Customer Reviews

Good feel, pleasing look, somewhat offputting scentOverall these compare well to other plastic card brands (Bicycle, ACE, Cartamundi) that I have tried. My evaluation is in large part due to comparing against these.1. Color/look: I like the vibrant reds. One beef I have against some brands is that they dull the reds (ACE) or they overdo them (Cartamundi). The blocky letters on the royal cards and aces takes a bit of getting used to, but it's just different, not bad.2. Feel/handling: these shuffle great. They also have a bit of grainy texture to them, more or less similar to the Bicycle cards. This helps the cards not to overslide too much (though they will always slide more than paper cards). *But* beware that this texture has a bit of a sandpaper sound effect when shuffling or when rubbing two cards together. Personally I like it, but some loved ones prefer a smoother, quieter card, like ACE or Cartamundi. Thickness is just right, too, comparable to Bicycle and ACE, and not so thin as the Cartamundi (which feels cheap, almost like a sheet of paper).3. Packaging: I like that these come with a slim two deck holder. I'm pretty sure these will become my travel set as they'll pack better than others. I bought two sets so I could have an all black back, and another all gold back set -- each intended for Canasta play. The case isn't super fancy, but it should be solid enough to last with proper handling and care.4. And now, for the not so pleasant... that scent when you first get them out of their packaging and shuffle them for the first time. Bicycle cards minimize this scent (gone in a couple of shuffles), and ACE take a few shuffles and played hands to kick out the odor. These are stronger than ACE in odor, more pungent -- I am sorry to say, bordering on TOXIC. Cards with a black backing seem to smell the worst. EDIT: My recommendation is that you wash them in warm soapy water, rub them with your fingers, and dry with a towel, laying out card by card before first play. In my experience, that knocks off most of the scent. You may have to repeat a second time, but after that the cards shouldn't smell. All in all, happier than I was initially -- raising review to four stars. 4Fantastic cardsThe cards are very well constructed and hold up well over vigorous use. My cards have been shuffled and bridged 1,000's of times already and show no signs of weakness or problematic edges. They are quite slick as compared to a paper-based deck, but use and familiarity for a new user can quickly adapt to ensure these are a comfortable and enjoyable product that will be expected to last. Fully support and recommend these cards. 5Held up better then KEM brandLove these cards. Easy to see the cards, easy to shuffle. The backs are easy to see the difference for the times we are playing poker and rotating decks, we have a friend that is color blind and struggled with other decks we have used. They don't feel really slippery, and are easy to handle. They are long lasting through weekly poker nights. They have also lasted through an oops spilling of liquid on them and people with greasy potato chip fingers. Still as easy to handle as when we got them, 6 months so far. Have not gotten bent up like other types of cards. Will definitely get this type of card again when getting a replacement. They have lasted better then really good Bicycle cards that had gotten harder to handle and bent a bit after a few weeks of consistent use. They lasted better then the decks of KEM brand that after (longer then bicycle) quite a while did get kind of cracked. 5Loved they feel and how easy they were to shuffleI have never had a deck of plastic cards so these were a new experience for me. Overall I liked the feel of them. They were extremely easy to shuffle right out of the box and they looked great. The only downside is that they seem to trap a layer of air between cards and will tend to float when you put one on top of another playing a game like solitaire. I guess they are make to play poker on a nice felt table. Still 5 stars but they are not the best option for all card games. 5COPAG vs KEMI've been playing cards for many years and decided to switch from Bicycles and Bees to cellulose acetate plastic; ie: KEM and COPAG. I purchased one set each of KEM arrows and COPAGs; both are poker (regular) size. I received the cards a few weeks ago and have had some time to play with my poker group and gauge opinions. Interestingly, our group voted 50/50 KEM vs COPAG. What I can offer is specific differences between the cards which you may find helpful. I've also included the specs of a Bicycle deck for comparison.KEM.014" card thickness.700" deck thickness, w/o jokers2.5"W x 3.5"L deck dimensions8.75" surface areaCOPAG.012" card thickness.625" deck thickness, w/o jokers2.483"W x 3.465"L deck dimensions8.604" surface areaBICYCLE.011" card thickness.580" deck thickness, w/o jokers2.48"W x 3.475"L deck dimensions8.618" surface areaAs you can see, the KEM deck is almost 12% thicker and 1.7% larger surface area than the COPAG deck, and 21% thicker and 1.6% larger surface area than a Bicycle deck. 21% thicker than a Bicycle deck is a big deal if you're a smaller-handed dealer! Here are my personal thoughts; The COPAG's feel slightly better when shuffling as the deck is slightly smaller, less weight and easier to handle for short fingers (like mine). The KEM's numbering is smaller and much less blocky, and appear more like a traditional deck. The COPAG's have larger (not Jumbo) lettering which is blocky. Both decks have visually pleasing and symmetrical backing designs. Both slide easily on felt and are very easy to riffle/shuffle. The COPAG's have an attractive blue border around each face card picture, unlike the KEM's black border. However, the red ink used on the KEM's hearts and diamonds appear darker and a little higher quality than the COPAG's. My cut cards more than fit the bottom of my COPAG deck. The opposite is true of the KEM deck, as the cut card is just a hair smaller than the deck. Also, the COPAG's will fit inside any paper deck box, like Bicycle or Bee. The KEM's will definitely NOT fit in a standard deck box.If you're switching from a paper plastic-coat deck like Bicycles, Bees or Motors, you'll find the most physical similarities with the COPAG deck. Alternatively, you'll find the most visual similarities with the KEM deck. The KEM deck has a well-known image on the ace of spades and is probably the most recognizable deck around (ie; Rounders).Cost wise, I spent a few dollars more on my KEMs than I did the COPAGs. If I were to choose only one based on price, feel and aesthetics, I'd probably go for the COPAG deck.Oh, I asked my wife which she liked better (as an uninformed observer) and she couldn't really tell the difference between the KEM and COPAG decks. She did like the feel compared to a paper deck though. Then she beat my flopped straight by sucking out on the river with a low flush (I love you dear).Bottom line, choose either one and you'll be super happy you upgraded from the popular paper brands. I hope this helps in your decision! 5Very sturdy, great shuffle, quite slipperyJust as I expected from other reviews, these are quite slippery - in our dry climate, they even spin about a bit from static electricity. They have a fairly strong chemical smell; people who are sensitive to chemicals will probably want to outgas them for at least a couple months before use. But these are a _dream_ to shuffle, very flexible; and with frequent play over a few months, aren't showing any wear or tear, as a few previous cardboard decks did. I read these would last and not tear, and so far they have not, not even one little bent corner, and we are hard on our cards. 4Best decks of playing cards I have ever ownedI did some research between Copag, Kem, and other brands before purchasing these. I didn't have a lot of experience with these types of cards before but I did play with some Kems that were many years old and I was impressed by the durability of the cards so I thought I would invest in a similar set myself. So far I couldn't be happier. These cards are easy to shuffle, super water proof, stain resistant, and seem like they will last for a long long time. They have already survived a couple of trips to humid spots and spent many days by the pool being used with wet hands, in the sun, etc. So far they look as good as new and even my kids love using them (my 9 year old has been teaching himself to shuffle because he says these cards are really easy to use). Very happy with this purchase. I may try some other brands in the future and if so I will update this with any comparison but so far the value/quality ratio on these cards is off the charts. Great product. I am ready to play some Euchre! 5Everything I had hoped forThese cards were exactly what I was hoping for when I began searching for plastic playing cards. They have a bit of extra weight to each card, which feels great in the hand. After more than 15 hours of play so far they are as fresh and crisp as when I opened the box. I was somewhat worried that they would be obviously plastic and that the old-school feel of playing poker might be lost. Not so. Unless I told someone, they would just think that these are exceptional cards that somehow seem better in every way. And no, I wasn't paid or given any product for this review. I just have an appreciation for those items we use on a daily basis that are occasionally made really really well. 5I friggin' love these cards! Awesome feel with consistent characters!I friggin' love these cards! Awesome feel with consistent characters!I tried the Da Vinci cards and though they felt fine, my wife and I thought the characters were inconsistent. The '10' had narrow characters but the '8' was a wide character. So strange.I cannot comment on the Kem cards. I might try them some day for an extra $10 but I am extremely happy with these Copaq cards. My wife and I use one set to play Gin Rummy so I purchased a second set (other color) to replace the cheap set that came with my poker chips.Everyone seems to really enjoy them when we play family poker.NOTE: I am not being compensated in any manner for this review (always wonder about some other reviews!). 5COPAG 1546 plastic playing cards: strong, durable, and a very good value for money.I play a lot of card games - mostly solitaire - and, as a result, I end up wearing out a lot of card decks. (I much prefer playing solitaire with real cards to playing computer solitaire; I have always loved the "feel" of a deck of real playing cards in my hands.)I decided to try out a set of COPAG plastic playing cards after watching several very positive online video reviews of them. I found a two-deck set of COPAG 1546s at Amazon at a great price, so I bought them. So far, I have been completely satisfied with them.To me, it's clear that these COPAG 1546 cards are vastly superior in every way to paper cards, and they hold their own very well against other brands of plastic cards. They slide and "fan" easily; they're wonderfully flexible; they shuffle effortlessly; the colors on both sides of each card are more vibrant; and they don t appear to be susceptible to breaking, cracking, or warping under normal use, as are some other brands of plastic cards. And, at around $10 for two decks, I think they are a pretty good buy.I've already given both decks of my new COPAG plastic playing cards a good workout, and every indication is that they are as strong and durable as they are attractive. I'm sure I will get many years of use out of these truly excellent cards. Highly recommended. 5
