QualityI like the safe paint. I like the feel of the wood and I believe children get more of an impression the "doctor's tools" are the real thing. Toys are toys and most are plastic and children like to play with our grown ups things and therefore ,this product creates more interest and playtime. I reasoned the kits with the best tools are liked better and fewer items create a feeling of ownership and encourage children to keep their medical tools together. 5Stethoscope poorly designedI loved everything about the kit... except... the stethoscope not designed well! It's the most fun part of any doctor kit and this one doesn't work. It does not have the bends that allow it to stay in the ears; pretty straight and my 2 yo keeps struggling to keep it in and play doctor checking the heart simultaneously. Wish I could return it. 2Not Really Made With Children in MindI was excited to receive this item because the items were made out of wood. I bought it for my 2 1/2 year old son to see if I should order more for my childcare service. I will not be purchasing more.Pros:* Many of the items are made of wood* The syringe actually moves up and down so a child can pretend they're giving shotsCons:* Most of the items are not very interactive. The medicine and ointment tops don't unscrew, the stethoscope is hard to reshape in order to put in a child's ears, the otoscope is solid so a child is not drawn into the action of actually looking into another's ears* There is a wooden pad which makes no sense because a fake pen/pencil isn't included. Its only a matter of time before it is written on with a real writing utensil* A tongue depressor is included which in my mind encourages children to check their "patient's" tongue which seems to me like a very easy way to pass germs around*The case is actually made of some type of paper/cardboard so I don't imagine it will last long...only time will tellI think I will actually end up getting rid of the wooden prescription pad, otoscope, tongue depressor and the ointment and instead putting in some gauze, a small kaleidoscope to take the place of the otoscope, an empty tube that my child can screw the lid on and off, and a handmade blood pressure cuff. As of right now he actually plays less "doctor" than he did before when he used random objects around the house to give me a check up. 2Great quality, attractiveI purchased this after my LOs last pediatric well check. It was a disaster! I should have expected he'd be resistant to everything, having grown so much since his last appointment.This set includes everything the dr used at a typical visit. I play this with my 2.5yo son, using his stuffed animals as patients (much like Doc Mcstuffins) so he gets used to the process. He likes to check ears, eyes, and throat, but his favorite is administering the 'shot'.I think he'll be much more comfortable at his next appointment, because he'll be more familiar with everything the doctor is doing. We'll probably bring this with us, so he can use his toys at the same time.I'm not enamored with the pill bottle, since he's much too young to ever take medicine in pill form, and I don't want him to think he can play with it if he ever stumbled across a real bottle. So I removed the fake pill bottle.I still think it's a good value without that, and really like that the kit is wooden instead of cheap plastic. It feels sturdy and good quality, and so far no chips in the paint.As others have stated, the case is not wood, but thick cardboard. I actually prefer that so it's light enough for him to carry. He has a tool set in a wooden box, and has a hard time dragging it around. So far the cardboard is holding up to toddler wear and tear so I have no complaints with it.Overall I'm very pleased with how attractive and sturdy this doctor kit is. 5Falls ApartThe box fell apart immediately and most of the toys did too. The wooden toys are quite sturdy although beware of pounding on the walls and potential injuries that can occur from play. 2Our new favourite! Better than the plastic kindWe love this. We don t use the tongue depressor though..that s gross and just adds to things I need to clean. The thermometer we stick under the pit of the arm {just an idea for those of you who also try to reduce amount of things needed to clean}The wooden doctor script is one of my daughters favourite parts of this too! Half the time of play is spent referencing her notes and asking her patients their ailments It s really cute and a nicely crafted set. Big Xmas winner 5These are great for 4-5 year oldsI got two of these for my preschool class, who were very into medical play, and they absolutely loved them. Decent quality...all wood. I prefer to use more natural items (avoid more plastic junk), so this was the perfect purchase. The items have lasted through A LOT of use and are pretty much totally intact (one cap of the wooden tube came unglued eventually, but it was easy to fix and the cardboard cases are a bit worn). Totally recommend this! 5Great for all doctor pretend play!I do wish the box wasn t cardboard as my toddler loves to stomp all over everything (including this) but with that exception this is a really fun and cute set that is a daily beater in our household and has been going strong for six months or so now. 5Great for imaginations!My boys (2 and 5) love pretending to be dr's with this kit. They've started pretending that the pamphlet that comes with it is the medical chart and "read" off the illnesses that everyone in the family has. I also love that Maple is a woman doctor, but there is nothing overtly girly about the medical kit. It's almost like they're suggesting women are just normal doctors! 5
