    Dense and smallWe bought them because of their high density and small size. Drilled holes and they added more accent to our son's car. His car came first within his den, 3 out of 4 times made records. King of the hill race, his car was 3rd and got the trophy. Car design + the COG distance + weights + bent axles + graphite = won the race. 5pinewood derby weights worked greatused these for our first pine wood derby and they worked so nicely. didnt think I know what I was doing but the my grandson came in 5th out of 30. The weights were very easy to use. I just drilled a hole slipped in the weight (I used 5 and our car came in at 4.9 which was great) then covered with wood filler. Nice. couldnt have been easier. worth the extra money. 5Easy to use.These weights are great. My son and I used them last year, and we are using them again this year. They fit perfectly inside drilled holes on the back of the car, making them easy to integrate into our design. We will buy again next year. 5Helped my son win his first ever pinewood derbyPut these in my son's pinewood derby car to make sure we just made the weight. Car went like a rocket and ultimately won the contest! Certainly have no complaints, therefore, with buying these! 5Most people don't need anything this dense. BUT lead is dangerousas described but we won the year before with regular lead weights. Most people don't need anything this dense. BUT lead is dangerous if you saw or grind it or even if the kids play with it afterwards and get it on their hand so that would be a reason to use tungsten or pain the lead weights. You can make a winning car with less dense weights - do a simple wedge and put weight balnced just in front of rear wheels. spend the time WITH your kid 4Great for Cub Scout Pinewood DerbyThese are excellent Pinewood Derby weights if you can drill. I can't but have friends that can thank God and they worked perfectly. What I do is... put a couple of these in toward the back of the car. But DON'T overdo it or they're stuck in there and you can be disqualified. I leave a little extra room for weight and then add a few pennies that I hot glue to the bottom of the car at the last minute. Just a little tip from an experienced Pinewood Derby Mom. :) 5Easiest way to add weight exactly where you want itThe small size and the fact that they stay in tightly in a 3/8 inch hole makes these really nice. I was able to place them right behind the rear axle in the car which helped my son easily win first place in his race. I put the car in a vise and clamped on a big gator tool v-drill guide to make the holes as exact as I could get them. I also used collar drilling stops so that the holes would not go too deep. When inserted the weights stayed in nicely all on their own. 5I wished I known about these a long time ago!After using zinc weights for several years, I bought these this year and I wish I'd known about them sooner! The density make it much easier to find room on the car to attach the weights. The only thing I don't like is that each weight weighs 1/2 oz and if you need less than that to reach the maximum weight, you're out of luck. I may use the putty version of tungsten weight next year. 4works wellthese little guys are heavy! sure beats melting lead. just make sure you drill carefully, putting a relatively large hole into soft pine will want to cause some tearing/chipping. 5We took first place !!!!Things have come a long since my original pinewood derby over 50 years ago - Based on advice from a seasoned vet we took a chance and lo and behold these made all the difference - We took first place !!!! 5
