    Purchased not as a toy, but works great.I wanted to make a gimbal for my GoPro camera, and need a small motor with a worm drive. I came across this Tamiya product and it fitted my needs perfectly. I hooked the motor and gearbox up to a RF wireless remote, and now from the cockpit of my plane I have the ability to turn the camera around whilst flying.Great little gear box. Suits my needs perfectly. 5The little motor that couldLovely little motor. Follow assembly instructions very clearly or.. else. Tube of grease that came with it was grossly inadequate and spent approx. 7 bucks (US) on getting another one. Gears heat up and start to smell without proper greasing. Great for DIY projects. 5The gearbox was somewhat easy to constructThe gearbox was somewhat easy to construct, as the directions were almost entirely pictures of the parts and how they went together. A couple of hours and it was together. One problem arose with the helical gear being held by a little post, B7, on the frame, B2. It isn t too stable and when the two frames come together, B1 to B2, the helical gear must be repositioned to insure its proper alignment. The gears are all plastic which should be expected for such a small price. The motors in these Tamiya kits vary in quality a lot. Of four kits ordered, one has a motor that draws 500 mA just to turn. I replaced it with one I already had.These are SMALL units. That is hard to tell from the package picture. The overall dimensions of the gear housing when assembled are about 2" high X 2" long X 1.5" wide.The "4 speed" advertisement does NOT mean you can "shift" the gears. You have to disassemble the unit to re-configure the gears to select a different gear ratio. It's not hard to do, but does require some fiddling. 4
