Works well, with a little practice. The focal point is sensitive, and close to the magnifier. I would buy again.When you use it, be aware that the proper focal length will be very close to what you are looking at. If you are too far back,it may appear to be in focus, but the image will be reversed. Try setting the viewed object on a table, if possible, and then slide themagnifier over it. The image should be in focus. You can then try to carefully lift the magnifier for an increased image magnification.It works pretty well, once you use it a few times, and get the hang of it. This magnifier will serve you better, if you keep it very clean,eliminating dust, and finger prints from the lenses. When not in use, keep it in the case, and also in a small plastic bag, for best results.I have been doing this with my magnifiers. I have several, and I also keep them together, in a plastic pencil box with a snap down lid. Thathelps keeps them clean. I also have a 30X, and I like that a little better, because it gives good magnification, and seems somewhat easierto bring into focus. The higher the magnification, the touchier they seem to be to get into focus, and the smaller the field of view. 4Use thread lock SOON!!!!?Works great!! I dropped it and the switch is not lined up but still works. After a short time the bolt holding it together came loose. I put it back together with lock tite. I consider that a manufacturer defect and suggest correcting it right out of the box. 4Not worth the priceHad this less a little more than a week before the screws holding the shroud fell out so it wasn't covered in my pocket. Subsequently one of the led stopped working. Payed more because it was stainless and thought to be durable. Proved to be anything but. Save your money and buy one 1/2 the price 1Really magnifies greatI d have to say it really magnifies a lot, really strong magnification. It s made in China. Seems as though it s well made. The case is junk though. Cheap plastic case. Mine arrived with the lid already broken. Had to have known it was broken when put in the box. There were no broken pieces from the case which being made of plastic would be something. I guess I ll keep it. Don t feel like sending it back for the broken case and end up getting another broken one. That s why 3 stars. If case wouldn t have been broken I would have given it 5. Shame though when you pay the extra money to get a good one with a case to keep it in and get a case that s no good and know it was shipped to you that way. Plus know that someone knew they were shipping a broken case. You can buy the same magnifier on Amazon for less. That s what I would do. 3This is a great tool. It s not just for Jewlery stores anymoreThis is a great tool. It s not just for Jewlery stores anymore... it s a great tool for antique hunters and coin people (numismatist). It is a great way to see microscopic dirt particles on ancient coins especially if it is a coin that is famous like Julius C sar denarius which has been forged several times. It is great if the coin looks to be too new or perfect, you can use it to see if there are microscopic dirt, and potentially save yourself from being taken. It is also great for finding markings on antique pieces. Some people may pass them over because they look like costume jewelry at places like goodwill. I have found some rings there that looked new and I used my loupe and found 5-6 silver rings and 2 9K rings. The 9K are Victorian. So always bring your lighted loupe to the garage sales and flea markets, you never know what you will find. 5I've bought a lot of jeweler's loupesThis one is terrific- it has decent optics, is illuminated and seems to be really well made. I use these to examine the stylus of a phono cartridge periodically during and after playing sessions. I've been through some of the cheapies, which would be fine as a disposable, replaceable item if the optics were better. This piece doesn't cost much more and the illumination feature makes it my go-to, even over a better, more expensive loupe that does have better lenses. I'd say if you need one of these things and don't want to spend big money on the really high grade ones (which can run into three figures), this one is a great alternative over the slightly cheaper but more inferior ones that are offered here and elsewhere. Thumbs up on this product! 5Works wellI'm using this to see insects on my plant leaves. It doesn't zoom in as well as a microscope, what is easier to use if I see issues then I can grab my microscope and take a closer look. Seems like battery life isn't that great 5Good loupe for hobbyistsI got this loupe so that I could verify that things I collect for my hobby (cards) are authentic.So far it has worked perfectly for that, and luckily everything I have appears to be the real deal!It comes in a sturdy plastic case, both the regular and UV light seem to work well, and it feels well constructed and not flimsy.I'm not sure if this would meet the needs of someone who planned to use this loupe constantly, but for someone with a collecting hobby who wants to keep their eye out for fakes, I think it should do quite well. 5Better than expectedNeeded something to magnify a small project I was working on I originally purchased a cheap pocket microscope but it was hard to focus and required two hands to use so unless I was about to sprout a third hand it wasn't going to work. So back I came and bought this. Well built comes in a little case built-in light and I can use it one-handed. project completed 5You get what you pay for.Its okay. It appears to be a dual lens, my buddy has a 10x triplet loupe and his works better than mine. LED light works great but hurts your eyes if you stare at it too long. In the colder weather here (using for rock hunting) it fogs up really bad. Screws constantly are coming loose requiring me to tighten them EVERY USE otherwise it just swings freely. Not terribly happy with this purchase. I will be investing in a $35 triplet. 2
