Customer Reviews

Five StarsGreat kit, well made a lot of fun to build 5Beautiful model kit. This is a really nice model of the Titanic. I really like the way the pieces are already colored. That being said, I do have a few minor complaints. One being the peices that the propellers attaches to are molded in black instead of maroon like the rest of the bottom hull. Two there is a section of deck that has the deck plank pattern but it is white instead of tan like the rest of the deck pieces. Three, the Grand Staircase Glass dome housing is done in tan instead of white. Other than the color issues I can't complain. I really love the brass colored propellers that are included aside from the standard black molded propellers. I also like the fact that the portholes and some of the windows are open. You can install battery operated miniature led lights into it if you want to. There are openings in the deck layers for you to do so. It's basically the same Titanic model kit that does come with LED lights, minus the lights. Assembling it is a little tricky in regards to the cranes and bollards. As well as the other smaller pieces. The only things that are missing are the support cables for the funnels and the telegraph wire that goes from the foremast to the rearmast. But seeing as how the model it's self is not that big, roughly 14 inches when assembled, I can over look it. 5Nice kit, high qualityIt was purchased as a Christmas gift for a 12 year old grandson. He found the kit being of reasonable challenge and the finished product has excellent detail. The parts quality is very high and the kit only requires reasonable dexterity. . 5Model looks very good when completed-I was pleased with how the model turned ...A very challenging model to build. Many very small pieces, hard to separate from parts trees. Parts did not always fit together well, unusual for a Tamiya model in my experience. Directions are clear. Model looks very good when completed-I was pleased with how the model turned out, given the challenge it was to build. Model is approx. 15 1/2"Lx6 1/2"Tx1 1/2"W. I recommend this model highly, but the builder will need to be patient and have a lot of experience building plastic models-this is not a model for a beginner... 4A wonderful looking kit with some fit issues.I just recieved the kit and have begun working on it. It looks like it has real nice detailing and and will be easy to work on, however, there appears to be some rather major fit issues with the decks lining up and fitting with the hull. This will be a real pain in the butt to work with and I hope I can make it work. This is a big model and mistakes and fitting issues show up more because of it.I may post a follow up review once it is finished. 3Good pastimeThis was a very good model to pass the time with. 1/800 is not a common scale so you pretty much have to use the parts you are given instead of purchasing different aircraft or other parts but that was fine for me. I was looking for a 1975-1980 version of USS kitty Hawk and this was it. Put it together and it looks great. I have it enclosed in a wood and glass case and am very pleased with this purchase 4BEST TITANIC MODEL KIT Superb kitVery detailed and requires a lot of skill especially the small vents and rope rigging. The best thing about this kit is that it can be lighted!! I chose not to do it but if you drill the proper holes this model is sturdy enough to be lit well.It is a good size weight when build and requires no paint and only glue.I use crazy glue and that helped speed up the process. Some parts needed to be shaved off with xacto knife but thats normal. This is an ultimate version, affordable and fulfills your inner titanic craving lol. 5Exactly what i was looking forThis is the exact model i was looking for.The parts are pre painted, but i will paint it my way.It is an updated kit that came out in the 90's.the ships hull is 2ft in length. So this is the big kit not the more popular smaller kits.Very detailed kit the instructions gives suggestions on how to paint certain parts. 5A good kit of a great ship.A good model of a ship that led a Battle Group my frigate was a part of in the early '80s.An odd scale, so it will not fit exactly with my other ship models. Details are fair, not on a par with newer Tamiya kits, but better than most vintage kits. Some folks are too picky when rating less-than-top-tier kits. Take them for what they are, not for what you want them to be.Includes a good mix of aircraft types, though not all should be used together. The RA-5c, A-6A, F4 Phantom and A-7 Corsair would be used for Vietnam War through late '70s service, the F-18, F-14, S-3 Viking and EA-6B would be used for more modern service. The defensive missiles and guns andcships boats are somewhat poorly done, but that is common for most ship models. Being ex-Navy, I do pick up on poorly detailed equipment. Overall, it is a decent representation of a great ship. 4Great purchase if you like a challenge...This ship is the cheapest already-colored Titanic around. This is a huge perk, because many $15+ models are not painted and would need need to paint it different colors. Focusing on this version, it is a great ship to look at. There are some problems that I want to address here.1. The shipping time is misleading, making you believe it'd arrive in about a month or 2 when it'll come in about 5 days after cleared payment, leading me to think that I didn't need the cement or glue for it until the day Amazon specifically said that it'd come.2. Some parts of the ship will cause problems for bigger pieces, even if you do follow the included instructions of how to put it together. For example: Some of the bow's pieces will affect the fitting of the 'boat deck' part (bow'll sink down); the stern is not much different.3. Takes time to put together, depending on your skill level on putting models *ships* together.4. Unless you clip technically every moorings (plastic part holders) on every part of the ship, you're going to have problems putting this ship together. These are the only things to consider when purchasing this product. Other than the following four, I really love this vessel. One optional thing you have is too paint over it, which should only be done if you want this model to look like the actual RMS Titanic that sank on April 15th, 1912, but in my opinion, how can you beat an already-painted RMS Titanic? (For those that would love to repaint it, the instructions will tell you the type of paint you'd need.) 4
