The fur is soft, shiny and doesn't shed. The eyes could have been made a bit better but for the price, I can't complain. It would make a great addition to any gift. Anyone of any age can enjoy its company. I have mine sitting by my jewelry case =(^_^)= My little guy makes me smile every time I see him! 5so cute!Super cute! I bought a couple of these for my Sister in law's baby shower. Her favorite animal is the penguin, so I took balloons and made paper mache' "eggs", cut the top off the "eggs, painted them white and had these little cuties hatching from them! Such a hit at the party and then an adorable addition to the nursery later on! 5Pengie lost an eye but is recovering nicelyThis is an adorable, much loved little creature. He had an unfortunate encounter with an overly enthusiastic canine family member and sustained some serious injuries. He has so captured my granddaughter's heart that she is nursing him back to his furry little self and is planning on getting him an eyepatch. Worthwhile purchase for the delight she finds in him. 5So fluffy!So soft and fluffy, and very durable! Our little penguin lover absolutely adores it! 5Freaky looking eyesSoft and the right size, but definitely has some freaky looking eyes. The pupils are slits like a snake... just weird 3Pretty darn sweet.Our grandson LOVES any sea mammal, especially penguins. This coupled with Melissa & Doug's large adult penguin was such a hit and was quickly added to the troupe of stuffed animals that accompany him at bedtime. It is extremely soft and just the right size for a little hand. Our grandson has an active imagination so there is alot of "nurturing" play between the two toys where the adult (Daddy penguin) takes very good care of his little one while our grandson looks out for them both. It's a natural way to nurture the gentler side of a little boy.I shopped around and found this varied greatly in price venue to venue. I was able to purchase it for a great price so I was pretty happy in the end. It's well made and as I said very soft. 5Darling toy, soft, durableWe bought the baby after owning several "adult" Emperor penguins by Aurora. They are the best. Plush and soft, without that unpleasant "synthetic" hand-feel. They all survived several machine washings. I would put them in a mesh bag or pillowcase to wash, as one penguin's eyes got scuffed in the washer. I have only one complaint about the baby penguin: the black part of the eye eventually wore or washed off, making him look like he had no pupils, and I had to re-draw that part on with a Sharpee pen - the only reason for less than a perfect rating. 4A great way to share a love of wild birds with childrenWhen my grand-daughter turned four I sent her this little penguin to go with a "daddy" sized Emperor Penguin. She already had a medium sized one (which she calls the "mommy") so she has a whole family now. I also sent her a couple of books to go with the toys which will tell her about the real lives of these interesting birds. (I posted a photo of her with this toy under "customer images").Melissa & Doug Penguin PlushThe Emperor's Egg Big Book: Read and Wonder Big BookThese Birds Can't Fly (Rookie Read-About Science) 4My daughter's favorite toy!My three year old daughter purchased one of these at either the aquarium in the Smokies or at Dollywood and fell in love with it. She named it "Waddley" and it became her favorite toy. Somehow my now four year old daughter lost Waddley and after a long search (weeks!) I decided to get a replacement. My daughter cried because Waddley was lost and wanted her original back, but since we couldn't find it we decided to have one shipped in under the pretenses that he'd been found by a stranger and sent home. She was absolutely thrilled when her favorite toy finally arrived from Amazon and between jumping up and down and hugging her Waddley she said she never wanted to be separated from him again. I'll definitely be ordering a couple back ups, as well as a back up of the pink plush by Aurora that my two year old loves.In terms of quality this is a small but high quality toy. It has been washed several times and the only impact was that the fur became a little frizzled. Definitely worth a buy if you have a penguin fan in your family! 5
