Five StarsIt works, just wish it was larger.in size. 5One StarThe magnification seems more like 3Xs--10X. 1Great!I ordered two handheld magnifiers by two different manufacturers. This is the only one I like. I like it so well, I'm going to order another one so I can have It handy bedside for crossword puzzles and reading. It is beautifully made, the 10X magnification is perfect and the balance is great. 5Works great for my purposes (read small print on various items like serial numbers)I should point out that my demands are probably far less than someone else using a magnifying glass for more "serious" purposes (stamp collectors? Scientists? ) ... but I suspect persons falling into that category would spring for a far more expensive magnifying glass anyways :)We've all been there at some point - you're dealing with customer service regarding some item.. maybe it's defective and you want to take advantage of the manufacturer's warranty... and there's that inevitable question - " Read me the serial number and model number off of it " from customer service.. and you look at the impossibly tiny and small print it's in and wonder how the heck you're going to read that :PThis is where this magnifying glass comes in handy :) and has saved the day for me already several times in that regard ... as far as how "good" it looks in terms of being "giftable" or part of a costume (Sherlock Holmes maybe?) .. it looks okay , I'd give it a 7 out of 10 for appearance but it's not a "beautiful" magnifying glass by any means ... for casual costume play or for say a child's use it might do the trick (though bear in mind the age of your munchkin too, this looks like a glass magnifying lens and of course broken glass can be dangerous ! ) .. 5Small TypeI ordered this in order to read the fine print on every dad-gum lable on every ding-dang product. When did they decide to print warning lables and directions in a negative point type? What isn't Times Roman 10 good enough anymore? Are they putting so much crap in our products that they have to print it in -5 Arial? So I ordered this and when it arrived the package was empty. I have no idea whether or not it works because the product wasn't in the package or the box. Maybe it was in the fine print that they only send empty packages but the type was too small for me to read without a magnifier. 1Splendid handheld magnifying glass for reading tiny print!I purchased this handheld magnifying glass to use in reading documents and other items with very tiny print and it works beautifully! The magnifying glass is exactly as described and pictured in the product listing. It has a gold metal frame and a rosewood removable handle that is nearly 3 inches in length. The glass lens is about 2-3/4" in diameter and the overall diameter of the gold metal frame is 3 inches. The magnifying glass comes nicely packaged in a box and a glass cleaning cloth is also provided. I could not be happier with this purchase! 5excellent 10x magnifiervery nice looking 10x magnifier feels solid has no plastic parts also and not too big and not too small. 5returned itDidn't like it Only had 3x magnification I returned it 1Limited Field of Clear MagnificationI read a large number of reviews abt this rosewood handled 10x magnifyer before buying. I agree it doesn't seem to be that much magnification. What is more frustrating/annoying to me is the blur outside looking dead center. I believe this may be in part to beveling from dead center outward. I would return it due to the blur effect but postage isn't worth it. I purchased this magnifier to replace a very cheap (price) plastic one. It was the smaller glass of a 2-piece set that I paid $1-2 for. The new one's magnification is no greater than old one (with a glass that is a little over an inch). Also th clarity is about the same except I don't have to look only dead center. I primarily wanted to use it to read small print without squinting. Constantly keeping what I'm reading dead center is disconcerting. I was influenced by reviews written by those needing this small-print reading assistance BUT I don't recall anyone mentioning this clarity issue. 3It's only 2x or not better than 3xIt's only 2x or not better than 3x. Not sure what made the seller consider this as a 10x? It looks good but that's not what I wanted it for. 1
