Customer Reviews

One of the better puzzles I've doneI enjoyed this puzzle, it may be only level 4 but it was more difficult for me than the level 6 ones I've done. It only took me 5 minutes to get it apart, but I must have spent 2 hours on it over about 10 days, about 10 minutes at a time until I finally got it back together. I probably should have paid more attention when I took it apart. Regardless, I enjoyed the challenge of getting it back together.Unfortunately, as with all of these type of puzzles, once you figure it out, it is simple. After my kids are done playing with it, I will put it on my desk at work where many people will be drawn to it. Many people like the feel of the solid metal in these puzzles. 4Good puzzle, great quality. This puzzle is fun! It is smaller than I envisioned from the picture, but it is certainly a bit more challenging than your normal puzzle. Hanayama ranks their puzzled from a 1 (easy) to a 6 (hard) and this is ranked as a 4. It fits that ranking.I normally can solve puzzles pretty quickly, but this one took me a little while and the first time I did get it solved, I didn't know how I did it? Then you have to put it back together, and that is just as challenging. What I like is that this isn't a puzzle you solve once, and then you know forever how like some of them. This one you can solve multiple times before you really understand it. There are a lot of opportunities to get close to the solution, and still not get it.For the puzzle lover in your family, this is a good choice. I wouldn't suggest it to really small kids, but anyone over the age of about 9 can have fun with it if they're patient. 5Great puzzle, lots of attention to detail in constructionWonderful quality construction. This was my first Hanayama metal puzzle. I have purchased a few more since. You can't find a better quality, longer lasting puzzle in my opinion. Very happy with the purchase. It wasn't too difficult to figure out for me but a few other people I let try it struggled quite a bit. I would say putting it back together proved more difficult than taking it apart the first time. Once you figure it out it becomes easy but is still fun to take apart and put back together 5Really cool on the surface...And like lots of cool things, appear to break down upon finer inspection. This is for Donuts. I ordered 2 of these, one for me and one for my wife. While one allowed both halves to spin freely, the other's darker side did not fit together snuggly and so it did not rotate more than ~270 degrees. This makes it extremely difficult to get it started, which brings me to the other one.Was too loose. It was very apparent where to separate metal joints to break it down, and once all the pieces are apart it's fairly apparent how to reassemble. Now, had these two (or at least one) been more meticulously constructed, then it would make a great conversation piece/fidget spinner. But there's just enough imprecision that it's noticeable, so while I now want to try more of these, it's difficult to dive right in. 2A thing of beautyThis puzzle is a true work of art. l own and love many of the Hanayama cast puzzles, but the Baroq by Akio Yamamoto is in my top-three, at least. It's beautiful, contains several very elegant moves, and, while not all that difficult to solve for puzzle fans, your friends and family will probably struggle (to your giddy delight). But even more, it's just a joy to hold and manipulate long after you've figured it out. No fidget spinner has anything on this thing, which has a permanent place on my desk (or in my pocket wherever I travel).Mr. Yamamoto is definitely my favorite puzzle designer, and a real genius... I can't imagine the kind of mind that can come up with these things. Be sure to also check out his Radix and Vortex Hanayama puzzles, 2 more pieces of kinetic art that are a joy to behold, and hard to put down. 5My Favorite Hanayama Puzzle (So Far)Cake is my favorite Hanayama puzzle so far, and I own 6 with another on the way. Everyone says "It's Pac-Man!" when they see it. Cake is very much like Pac-Man, because I was horrible at both. This puzzle is hard, and I'm ashamed to admit I googled the solution. I rate this puzzle 5 stars despite the shame I feel solving it. It's a beautiful design and looks great in my growing collection. My roommate is smarter than me, so I give him my Hanayama puzzles to get a different gauge on difficulty. He usually solves them in minutes which is infuriating. I admire that he hasn't googled the solution to Cake, but it's gone about a week unsolved. I kinda miss my puzzle, but it's in good hands. 5The challenge is reassemblyExpectations: It comes apart in seconds; that has nothing to do with solving it. Think of it as a 3D jigsaw puzzle with 3 pieces. I don't think it's a spoiler to say that it's about lining up notches. One reviewer complained about that. It is very unlikely to be reassembled by accident. Doing it the first time took patience, close examination, and maybe an hour split over a couple days. Even then I couldn't solve it on demand; mastering it maybe took another hour altogether. Now I just enjoy the "feel" of disassembly and reassembly. One reviewer called it ugly; I couldn't disagree more. Recommended. 5I've made a terrible mistake......because I'm going to be spending a lot of money on Hanayama puzzles. This puzzle is brilliant. This is the first Hanayama puzzle I've attempted (it arrived yesterday along with Labyrinth and Quartet which I will review separately once they are solved). This is a very logical puzzle, and yet it's hard to see the logic until you've solved it, which is something I like in a puzzle. I took it apart in probably about 30 minutes, but then it took me at least that long to put it back together again. The second time was quicker, but I didn't fully understand it until the third time. Now, once you've really solved it and understand how it works, it's very simple to take apart and put back together, so at that point there's really no replayability in terms of solving it again. However, it's a very attractive piece and it makes a great desk decoration/fidget toy. It's quite hefty and feels good in the hand and the motion required to disassemble and reassemble is very satisfying. As a fidgety person, I am extremely pleased with this piece and I expect it will still get lots of use even though I've solved it. 5Very fun, great gift idea for anyone that enjoys puzzlesVery entertaining puzzle, I bought it for a friend in my office and the first week it was there just about everyone that walked by his desk stopped to try to solve it for themselves. Once you figure out the trick to solving it you can get to the point where you can put it together in a few seconds but it takes awhile to memorize the pattern as it really only goes together one way. It's a great gift that provided a lot of entertainment for everyone on the team. We had only one rage quit out of about 15 people, so it seems to be an excellent difficulty level for a group of bored IT people. Someone else brought in the Enigma and Padlock puzzles from the same company but both of those proved to be so complex only one person could solve them without cheating and watching videos on how to do it. The general consensus was this one was much more fun because you can figure it out on your own if you play with it for awhile and watch the way the pieces move. 5One of the very best Hanayama puzzles! This is an excellent puzzle, and one of my very favorites from those in the Hanayama line (I own several of them.) It's very solid, and looks great. The goal of these puzzles generally is to dismantle it and then put it back together. In this case, that first half happens in 1 second with very little effort, so the actual challenge is to put it back together. There is no "gimmick" or hidden information as you'll see in some of these puzzles. All information is just right there and you can use some combination of trial and error, tinkering, and logic to solve it. It's very satisfying when it "clicks" into place upon finding the solution. No, it's not the hardest challenge, but it's fun to tinker with, display, and share with others once you know how to solve it. 5
