    Do NOT Last LongTwo of these nesting dolls cracked within 4 months of purchasing. They were used lightly, just taken apart and put back together, not stepped on or thrown around. The linden wood is too thin and not meant to take any pressure. I would purchase something else unless they will just sit decoratively on a shelf. 2Thumbs up.Very wooden. Very Russian. Very doll. 5Just What I Was Looking ForI ordered this for my five year old granddaughter for Easter. She doesn't like candy, especially chocolate which makes me wonder where I went wrong, so I always look for something different to put in a basket for her. This doll was exactly what I was looking for. There was saw dust in the dolls but I just used some furniture polish and a dust cloth and removed the excess dust. The last two dolls are a little tight and difficult to open but I did a light sanding and now they open without any problem. The colors are bright and the little faces are so sweet! The smallest doll is very tiny so I probably wouldn't give this to a child any younger than five or to one that puts things in their mouth because it could be a choking hazard. The paint is smooth and glossy and there were no chips or bubbles in the paint on any of the dolls. I like these so well I may order another set for myself! 5Would have been great but....These nesting dolls are very pretty. Very nice work and that is why I'm giving them 2 stars. However, the second doll seems to have been shellacked shut. It is impossible to open. Even my husband tried prying them. It is impossible. I think it is ridiculous that the purpose of this toy is to be able to be opened (by a child) and they cannot even be opened by a grown man. I bought them even though I saw that in someone else's review, and I wish I didn't because they cannot be returned. So, now I'm stuck with a set of nesting dolls and I can only open the first one. Totally disappointing.**Update: Amazon came through for me and made it right and I really did appreciate that. Thank you, Amazon. 2The quality of dolls is very good. By shaking I can hear there are more dolls inside but it just won't open. It disappointed me a lot. Plus the third doll has a crack. It is obvious it didn't happen while shipping. It was cracked before it was shipped. Even more disappointing. And policy doesn't allow a return. 1Wonderful for children(3-6years old)My 3 year old daughter LOVES these.... I remember playing with similar dolls when I was a child. Its simplicity makes for a great toy! Good quality.. the smallest one was hard to open at first but now it opens fine. I love them!I love these dolls. I bought them as a gift for a young lady who attends the high school where I work. She was born in Russia and adopted and brought here as an infant. She's very interested in things about her culture and one day I was telling her about my (treasured) nesting dolls and she mentioned that she had never seen them. I can hardly wait to give her these as a Christmas gift next week. They are just beautiful. The only reason I gave them four stars instead of five is because they aren't painted with as much detail as mine. If I didn't have the comparison, they would certainly be a five! 4Otherwise good purchase!My son loves these! He's 15 months and we follow Montessori path of learning. I'm giving 4 stars because when they arrived each piece was covered in lots of sawdust. My husband had to spend a long time cleaning them. The tiniest doll was a choking hazard so I had to put it out of reach. Otherwise good purchase! 4So sweetI bought these nesting dolls because I have always loved them, and because I was sad, after Christmas, having to put away a set of "nesting Santas" that I place on the windowsill every December, and thought that it would be a perfect time to buy a set of Russian ones. I am not aware of the tradition behind them (I should be), but these had the prettiest faces of the dolls in this price range. I am starting a new project this year, so I placed the dolls from littlest to biggest, hoping that they would bring me good luck as the momentum for the project starts to grow and as the year progresses. Santa has had his turn; now these little ladies grace the space over my kitchen sink, helping me to believe in woman power, and the sweetness of an approaching Spring. (I am writing this from a mountain covered with a foot of snow.) 5Some flaws, but cute overallI concur with another reviewer who said there was wood dust everywhere upon opening the package. Also, one of the inner dolls is a bit loose upon opening and closing (not a nice secure closure), and some of the dolls fit into one another a bit too snugly. That being said, I dusted the dolls off thoroughly and they look quite cute now, no splinters or anything sticking out anywhere...they could probably have been sanded a bit more smoothly on the inside but they're not a hazard, just a rougher feel inside than you might expect. And the dolls aren't so snug together that it's a big problem, if I place them inside one another gently instead of pushing them in it seems to work fine. It's just that one loose doll that's most disappointing (if you hold her from the top, her bottom part tends to just fall off). Also, other reviewers mentioned finding a Russian coin tucked in their dolls. I found no such thing, maybe this is a different seller...definitely made in Russia though, as there is a sticker on bottom with Russian text printed on it.I will say that I was very happy to get a doll that was yellow on top and red on bottom, since I got this to go with the book "The Littlest Matryoshka" for my five year old nieces, and they look similar in the book. I plan to have them read the book, and then go hunting for the dolls I will have hidden around the room, to "reunite the sisters" as in the book. Should be a fun Christmas experience! I doubt they will mind the small flaws too much!Update: They LOVED it! 3
