Awesome first setGot this for a Christmas present for my son, it was his first train set and its a great one to start with! The additional expansion sets aren't a necessity but do help to expand the train world! I got both the "B" expansion and the Beginner pack to supplement but I didn't need to at all. Definitely a great choice for wooden tracks. 5I like Brio products a lot but we returned this as ...Definitely don't buy this for under 3 year old as they will break it. I like Brio products a lot but we returned this as it was clear our 2 year old would break it easily. 2Usually a big fan, but not this timeWe had purchased the My First Brio train set previously, and our kid loved it, so we wanted to get something a little bigger. Honestly, I wish we had just bought expansion tracks instead, or a different set. The plastic bridge/tunnel is cheaply made, and there's nothing to really hold the tracks in place on it, so they easily slip off and cause frustration for little hands (and also for the parents trying to help). Unlike Little People or Legos, the character pieces don't exactly lock into the train cars either, so they fall out a lot. Honestly, the whole thing is just very poorly executed. Do yourself a favor, pick a better set, or just buy the track pieces and create your own path, because the wooden tracks are amazing, but some of the plastic extras are just junk. 2Great toyI bought lots of Brio train stuff when my children were quite young and they played with them for years. I bought this starter set for one of my young grandchildren, and it is a hit! 5Great starter set for my 2 year old grandson who ...Great starter set for my 2 year old grandson who had already been introduced to Brio s and found he loved them. At this age, he still needs help setting up the track, especially the mountain overpass and tunnel, but he loves to help and once its complete he plays with it non stop. Great price on Amazon. 5High-quality trainset with train cars that fit little peopleMy 3-gear old really loves this train set. The fact that little people can be put inside each train car is really great and something you don t often see in other train sets. This makes it where there is lots to do with this train set - not just watch it go along the tracks. The quality of the set is excellent - my toddler has thrown the trains cars across the floor and into stairs, has stepped on them, etc and yet they are as good as new 5MADE IN CHINA, Made of PlasticNOT the quality I remember as a KID. Now "MADE IN CHINA" which is sad to hear.The included metro style train is made of plastic and feels very cheap. Especially for a "high end" toy.The Tunnel , as well as the included stoplight signal, and suitcase are all PLASTIC, not wood.The tracks do seem similar quality to what I remember.Overall, still a good toy train set and I will enjoy this with my kids this year. I don't imagine there is a better product out there, so we will stick with our BRIO trains even though the quality and materials has declined a bit. 3Good starter pack, middling qualityThis is a fun starter kit for young train lovers, especially the mountain tunnel. It works with wooden Thomas trains (a must!). However, the product only receives 3 stars because 1) two of the trains only have connector magnets on one end; 2) some of the wooden track connections are poorly cut, making for too tight or too loose connections.I plan on buying more track for my son, but may not purchase the Brio B pack. The packs are too expensive to have poor quality connectors. I can get cheaper ones at IKEA. 3So worth the money...keeps my 2 year old quiet!Oh my goodness, talk about QUALITY. My two year old son plays with these things for HOURS each day. Throwing them, eating lunch and dinner with them. He doesn't want to put them down. He absolutely loves these trains. Matter of fact, i'm going to have to buy some more pretty soon because after building the figure 8 track over 100 times now, it's getting old...REALLY fast. Nevertheless, best Christmas present i've purchased in a long time. Would highly recommend to those contemplating whether this is a good deal...just do it. You won't regret it. 5Fun but not perfectMy 3 year old daughter received this on her birthday. She absolutely loves building train tracks and this was an addition to a set we own (Melissa and Doug). I knew she d love the passenger train and getting to put people in and out. The mountain/tunnel feature looked so fun too. The passenger train is neat BUT the people aren t easy to manipulate. If they aren t placed in the seats just so... their heads stick above the top and get stuck under the tunnel. My daughter has figured this out now but it seemed like a design flaw and was frustrating at the beginning. Also, the hands of the people stick out... so they often get stuck on the Melissa and Doug bridge because they are too wide. We ve opted to put our LEGO people in instead! 4
