Pricey and Chinese madeWas a gift for my sons birthday, he loves firetrucks at the moment. I know brio products are expensive, but man, this is alot of money for not very much. The cherry on top was that one of the LEDs on the firetruck didn't work. Took it apart and found that one of the LEDs legs had a bad solder and was completely separated from the circuit board. Fixed that and now it works fine but I shouldn't have to fix anything that's brand new. Disappointed.2Pretty awesome Fire Station set. It will bring several years of imaginative plays for children.Pretty awesome Fire Station set. Brio comes with other sets. This sets comes with two firemen, chainsaw, two tool boxes with hoses, one fire jelly, and a fire station slide. It was pre assembled and easy to plug in the slide. Set includes one wood track that can be connected to connect to the other sets and roads. One fire engine and one ladder trailer are included as well. Fire engine makes cute low decibel siren for about 7 seconds and turns off. Uses two button batteries beneath the engine truck. Roof top has helipad which can be played with a set with helicopter that Brio makes. Brio tracks are compatible with other wooden train sets made by other companies. It works with IKEA model and their trains sets. Plastics are sturdy and has wood surface on one side with texture. One fireman can ride in the fire engine. Ladder trailer has hose that is rolled on with string that can imitate rolling and unrolling. It will bring several years of imaginative plays for children. I enjoyed putting together. Can't wait to merge everything to existing train sets to table top city of imagination for my son who is 4.5 years old.5Cute and funCan I say I am a life-long fan of Brio? I grew up with Brio toys so when my firstborn arrived into this world, I gave him Brio trains and toys. Now that my second child is here, I am also exposing her to Brio toys and both children love them. But can I just say something? Having seen this toy brand evolve over decades, I must say I'm slightly disappointed that they are moving more towards plastic toys.For example this fire station. It's ALL plastic except for one piece of track. Granted, it's good plastic like the kind Playmobil uses (not flimsy) but it's still plastic. Brio toys used to be made entirely of wood, gorgeously painted in bright colors and able to last for generations. Now, the plastic doesn't last. I bought my children a Brio Starter set not two years ago and the plastic train that came with it already lost it's top. Another complaint is that these new plastic trains don't work with the old Brio tunnels because they are too fat.Complaints aside though, if you aren't experienced with the Brio of old, I think this new set would be a delight. Their toys are still brightly colored and inspire open ended play. Both of my children played with this set and easily added it to their regular train set. The little one especially loved the slide. She slides the people down them, but the trains also go for a ride down the slide too. The people can grip the sides of the car they sit in, but also the luggage too. The fact that the fire engine's sirens work is also a big hit - for both me and the kids because the sound isn't too loud and annoying but with just enough realism to delight the kids.So it's a good toy; it'll be played with often. I guess I just miss the good 'ol days.4Do Better BrioToo much plastic for a Brio world toy.1See Pictures! Compatible w/Other Wooden Track and Trains!BRIO has been a trusted brand in our home for many years. Their products last for years and years. We trust their quality and safety! This new BRIO Fire Station is a sturdy plastic with some wood. It can be used as a stand alone playset or you can incorporate it with your trains and other playsets you may own. Your BRIO Fire Station comes to you with two posable fireman figures, accessories, slide for your fire station, ramp, one piece of wooden track and two fire trucks. One of your fire trucks has lights and sounds to add to your imaginative play. The batteries are already installed for you. The fireman fit inside the fire truck and the trucks roll well on the truck. We have always found BRIO wooden track to be compatible with many other wooden train tracks. We have generic track, Thomas and Chuggington. They all fit well. The fire engines have the magnetic coupling so they can join together on the train track and head off to the fire. The only negative I have is the price point. For the $80 retail, I would like to see a few additional accessories - such as a couple additional firemen, bunk beds, computer/desk and even a Dalmatian! I trust the BRIO name and the quality they represent. I don't anticipate any issues with prolonged use of the set. I have uploaded several pictures for your review! BRIO School Playset4Such a beautiful set - the flames are our favorite addition to his fire truck and trains setsMy son has torn off the slide, he says his choo choos don t go there. OKThe fire pieces are slightly flexible and he gets so excited to have hot fire when we play.The firemen that came with the set come apart like Lego men so I used ES6000 to glue one sitting and one standing so he can t eat pieces. So far all the pieces have survived his rescue fire play pretty well. Well...the BRIO of old was all wood---this set has just ONE wood piece (compatible track--which is nice for owners of Brio wood train-track).OPINION:I'm mixed... We got our sons Brio wood pieces/kits back in the early 1980s. They played with these pieces for hours creating, designing, and playing various setting scenarios. These were well-made, finely sanded, and withstood all kinds of fun. However...wood IS heavier (to carry and pack up) than this plastic...and plastic is easier to clean off (if you do that). For JUST the Fire Station kit, I have my doubts how much entertainment and creativity a child would derive. The colors are fun, the added sound/light is fun... but without other pieces to create more of an environment...this kit has limitations...for $80. I'm sorry, BRIO, but there's no way I could afford or justify spending that amount for what's included.3KidsFun5Great itemMy 8 year old loved it.5
