Customer Reviews

Fun little kitThe kids had a lot of fun with this, but it wasn t as easy to follow as some activity kits. So, some of the experiments were not successful- but, still fun for the kids and they were able to perform them independently 4Easy for her to follow and do on her own ...My daughter (2nd-3rd grader) loves mixing up little edible potions. Easy for her to follow and do on her own without involving me. 5This was a gift to the Boys & Girls Club of Snohomish County, Marysville, WA Unit! This was a gift to the Marysville, WA Boys & Girls Club, for their Christmas donation program. Low income parents were able to choose gifts for their children at no cost to them. This is a Great program!Even as an adult, this Edible Chemistry Kit might be fun! 4It's edible, but not tastyIt kept me and my nephew entertained one rainy afternoon. I did have to go out and buy some additional items that I don't keep in the house such as red cabbage, plain antacids (if you can bum one off from a friend - do it!), orange juice with calcium, etc. It was interesting to see things gel up. The "Polymer Pudding" did not work for us (we tried twice and just ended up with a liquid mess).I was mostly disappointed with the results, while edible, were NOT tasty. They tasted kinda gross. 3I like that I didn't have to watch her do things ...My 9 year old loves little science experiments. She loves mixing things and seeing how things react. She had been asking for a long time if she could get a chemistry set. Last time she got a science experiment package, my boyfriend had to help because there were corrosive products, which I will never understand because it was for children. Anyway, I told her she could get one as long as I don't have to help and it's safe. She chose this set because it's edible and the items should be food grade safe. The pack came with everything she could need, including a teaspoon! That was huge because we just moved into our new home and we had been using disposable plates and utensils. I like that I didn't have to watch her do things step by step. I was right next to her as she did her experiments, but I didn't have to handle unsafe chemicals and have her watch me do the experiment, like the other she had previously. Although it's an edible experiment, I still did not allow her to drink the fizzy drink she made. It's a nice little set that your child can work on independently. 5Great kit! This is a great little kit, I've bought it for my child and sent it as a gift to others. So many fun projects and both my children (age 6 and age 13) had a good time with it. 5... cousin (7 year old boy) and it was a great activity for him and his dad to do togetherBought this as a christmas present for my cousin (7 year old boy) and it was a great activity for him and his dad to do together. 5Not what I expectedI purchased this as a gift but was disappointed. The item was very small. 2It continues to be fun, she explores something new every time she gets ...This kit has been a staple in our house for years--I think we started these experiments with my daughter before she turned 5 and she's 9 now. It continues to be fun, she explores something new every time she gets it out, and she has required very little supervision with it since the first couple of times we did it with her. We also used these experiments as the basis for an experiment with a mixed 1st-3rd grade class, and the children loved it.The Copernicus kits are well designed, accessible for kids and minimal work for adults. They do a great job of making the kits require minimal amounts of equipment or supplies from home. We have used several of their kits through the years and I would recommend any of them, no duds so far. 5Edible but not tastyI purchased this item for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas last year. When I received the package, I was a bit surprised at how very small it was(I'd say about the size of an index card holder). I was expecting a little more of a wow factor but the smaller size may appeal to some.Pros: She absolutely loved it and was able to do the experiments without assistance. There are enough supplies included to repeat experiments. The experiments provided a good way of understanding acids/bases.Cons: The 'edible' part is more that the mixtures are not toxic. They are far from tasty and neither my daughter or I actually liked any of them. There are some explanations provided with the experiements but think these could have really provided a little more information. My daughter had fun with the set so I'd say it was worth the price but I was a little disappointed overall with the taste and quality. 3
