Customer Reviews

Same fun game as original, just different colors pictures - kind of lamePurchased the blue expansion pack. The kids love this game. So do I if I can find slow enough people to play with, haha. This expansion pack lets up to eight players instead of just four, which is nice in big groups.I gave it 4 stars because, how hard is it to think of 4 different pieces of farm equipment for pictures they put on the backs of the cards. It is the identical game as the original, just the colors of the pictures on the cards changed.Original game:Yellow bucketRed wagonBlue plowGreen pumpColors are the same, pictures are the same, but the color of the picture is what changed. That is pretty lame. Please update the expansion pack with different colors and different items, and I'll give it 5 stars.Expansion pack:Green bucketYellow wagonRed plowBlue pump 4Great game! This is a very fun game that can even be played with a two-person team if many people want to play. It's very lively and keeps the brain active. I bought this expansion pack because it said the cards were not duplicate colors of the original game cards. But this is not true. The original game I purchased years ago are yellow, red-orange, green, and blue. This expansion pack has the same colors, so the only way we can play with more than 4 people is to either mark the new cards, or try to differentiate between new and old cards when separating them at the end of the game. 4Wish it was easier to differentiate between expansion and original deck.So nice to finally be able to play Dutch Blitz with 5-8 people now! More of my family can play on holidays instead of taking turns. Makes the game even crazier and fast-paced to play! The only reason I docked off a star was that I wish the cards were completely different from the original set to make it easier to separate at the end of a round. It's the same exact pictures on the back of the cards as the original deck (water pump, plow, bucket, buggy), just rotated the colors. So same colors and same pictures as the original deck just made each picture a different color then what was on the original deck. At the very least they should've used colors not in the original deck to make it easier to sort through. But for one inconvenience it's still a great expansion pack. 4Play this fun "expansion" standalone for up to four players, or combined with the original for up to eightDutch Blitz is a favorite party game of mine, good for fast, frenzied fun in a group. It's very similar to Ligretto and Nerts/Pounce/Racing Demon/etc., with a few rules differences and the graphic design of the set to differentiate itself from the others. This expansion pack can be played standalone for up to four players, or combined with the original Dutch Blitz (in the green box) to accommodate up to eight. Each of the two packs comes with four decks of 40 cards, in four colors numbering 1-10. The backs of the decks help differentiate them into individual players' decks for the game, and make it easier to sort and score at the end of a round. The faces are brightly colored, with large easy-to-read numbers, and include figures of boys and girls to help mark the "suits" for stacking. The gameplay is frequently chaotic as players race to stack cards in the center of the table in number order, while trying to get their own Blitz Pile in front of them cleared out. Points are scored at the end of each round once someone's Blitz Pile is cleared, with players earning one point for each card they stacked in the center and losing two for each card left in their own Blitz Pile. Gameplay goes to 75 total points, which doesn't seem like much until you really get going and find yourself frequently finishing a round with a negative score. The wild swings in scoring, however, keep the gameplay interesting, and allow even players who are far behind in score to suddenly come out ahead. The only real drawbacks to the game are that the boy and girl icons can be hard to differentiate in the heat of the moment until you get used to the game, and that the game packaging opens at one end with a flap like many card boxes, but stores the cards side-by-side in two piles. This can make it difficult to store them without damaging their edges, and cause them to slide against each other while in the packaging and mix up the decks slightly. This is a game that should have had a plastic tray insert to hold the cards in place inside the box. 5Watch this.+1 to all of the comments about how lazy the developers were in creating this expansion. As others have noted, they took the four shapes from the original (bucket, pump, buggy, & plow) and just switched the four colors around (red, yellow, green, & blue). This is just breathtakingly lazy. The problem is that when sorting cards out at the end of a round, you can't just sort by color, you've got to determine if it's one of two shapes. Watch this... orange rooster, purple shovel, aqua corn stalk, & brown hat. I have just made the expansion better, and it took a matter of seconds. That being said, it's still a super-fun game, and six-player is a blast.Pro tip: everyone pick an animal noise and make it whenever you play a card. It amplifies the frantic ridiculousness of the game. :) 3The Colors Should Be DifferentI love Dutch Blitz. I mean I really love it. I played Nerts for years and then discovered Dutch Blitz which is essentially the same game but with cards designed for it. It makes counting much easier with the specialized backs. I bought this expansion so more people can play at the same time. The cards are the same size and quality as in the original pack.BUT...The expansion uses the EXACT same colors and objects (Red, Green, Yellow, and Blue) for the player markings. They do mix up the color/object arrangement so you can tell whose card belongs to who. But it really messes with your brain to have 2 Red players, 2 Green players, 2 Yellow players, and 2 Blue players. With all the colors in the word why wouldn't you come up with 4 new colors? That would make sorting the cards out at the end of the round SO much easier. It's still a great game. But it's frustrating that the colors are the same. It seems like such a simple fix.I still would recommend this game. Just be aware of the similar looking cards when you are sorting out points. 3The expansion pack IS different than the original. The people saying this expansion pack is the same as the original need to take a sec to LOOK at the cards before posting false reviews. Yes, both packs have the same 4 SYMBOLS on the back of the cards, but those symbols are 2 different colors depending on whether they are in the original deck or expansion deck. For example, the carriage in the original pack is orange but in the expansion it is yellow, the plow is blue in the original but yellow in the expansion, and so on.I have the original and I bought the expansion for my sister so we could have the game at either of our houses for game nights, or bring them together when we have large parties. The game came as described, shipping was fast, and it is such fun to play! Definitely recommend. 5Great addition to the original game.I was glad to find this product so we could add more players to our Dutch Blitz games. I am a little disappointed that the cards have the same images as the original set only in different colors (for example, the original set has a green bucket and the expansion set has a yellow bucket). It would ve been nice to have different images altogether. Still, Dutch Blitz is one of my favorite card games, so I m very happy to have a way to add more players to the game. 5Messed up packDisappointed. It came with the same yellow bucket card as in the original pack. Returning. 1SO Much Fun!Bought this after a friend taught us how to play. So easy to learn and so much fun! We bought the original deck after our very first time playing and the next week we bought the expansion pack so more friends could play! Don't let the plain face of the packaging dissuade you from getting this. It's a fast-past, funny game! 5
