Customer Reviews

My 9 year old constructed it easily, except some parts which required extra pushingMy 9 year old constructed it easily, except some parts which required extra pushing. However, one problem we had initially was that it came with two left arms and no right arm. If you look at the assembly diagram, you would guess the wrong part number because the assembly diagram is mirror imaged, so the part number for the left arm is actually the number for the right arm, and vice versa. However, the parts have numbers etched onto them very small, so you should use the number on the part, if necessary, rather than following the diagram. I contacted the distributor, Elenco, and asked them for a replacement right arm, and it arrived promptly, so the dinosaur is now fully assembled. My only other complaint about the dinosaur (besides the mirror-imaged diagram) is that the its jaw is not articulated. Otherwise fine. 5Great Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton! What else can I say that hasn't already been said. Great Trex skeleton model, great detail, great scale! Nice solid base!I was inspired by another Amazonians painting their Trex more of a museum brown Patina, so I gave it a go. I like it much better with the new paint. I would paint it before assembling, I didn't so a little heavy handed in some places... maybe more chocolate covered. ;-)I used an Esspresso satin paint from a rattle can.I used the same on the Raptor model. One can will get you both done. 5T-Rex Petting ZooShortly after viewing the latest Jurassic Park dinosaur extravaganza, this item suddenly made sense for a home d cor item. Assembly is straightforward as long as the assembly numbers for each part are kept facing the same direction. A stout metal spine and large assembly poster is included. A few pieces, in this case the forearms were challenging to attach. Several of the holes for the metal pin sets used for some vertebrae parts required a little reaming to allow fit.A glue gun adhesive in several areas keeps the entire chain of parts together well. For example the skull attachment to the metal spine and the last piece for the tail also attached to the metal spine. Finally the assembly components for the legs to the metal spine. The completed item while not museum archival quality looks primal. The model balances well in the base. The material used to produce individual parts is tough. Here T-Rex, T-Rex T-Rex... nice dinosaur. 4LARGE T-REXAs a dinosaur fan, especially of the T-Rex this model kit was a great find. There are over 50 pieces and this kit goes together very easy. I did glue mine together so it is permanently assembled. I also painted mine once assembled. This is a great looking kit and you can't beat the price. Similar kits are $100-$150. 5I. LOVE. THIS. GUY!!It s the coolest thing ever. He s ginormous. Being in RadTech I m into bones & x-rays. Being a mom if boys who were super into dinosaurs I cane to love them too! He is lightweight. I wouldn t give him to a child intent of physically destroying him. But an older child would love putting him together.Company sent him on time & well protected in packaging. 5Large and in charge! This is a phenomenal display piece a very detailed, quite large (three feet long and a bit under two feet high) model of the Tyrannosaurus Rex's skeleton. Any dinosaur fan should have this on display SOMEWHERE in their house... along with the Brachiosaurus skeleton produced by the same company, of course.Putting it together was fairly easy, too. All the parts are discretely numbered (in places unseen when the product is assembled) and the construction is simple enough that all you really need is the diagram included in the box, which shows the completed skeleton with individually-numbered bones. Assemble the legs, assemble the pelvis, slide all the spine and rib stuff in, stick the tail and head in, connect legs, connect arms to those little holes in the ribcage, and... stick this sucker on his display stand! The stand doesn't even really snap into the feet, either. The skeleton balances perfectly on the stand when fully assembled, just keep in mind that it's not SECURED to the stand when you try to move it around. The only difficulty I had, and I'm not sure this was a problem with the product in general or if I just was unlucky enough to have a piece that was slightly "off" in engineering, but one side of the pelvis really did not want to be inserted into the midsection. I had to lean my full weight onto the piece to get it to go in. In it did go, though, and I'm very satisfied with the completed model.Worth mentioning: you can probably disassemble most of the model if you really need to for some reason, but that pelvis is not coming apart once it's put together.Anyway... my inner dino nut is squealing in delight right now. Very cool! 5Wonderful skeleton, great detail and loads of fun to put together. A very good buy! This skeleton is just about the best thing you can buy, and the price is reasonable for the quality you get. I'll talk about the assembly, the details and the intended use of this product. The assembly was super easy, all the bones come numbered in such a way that is inconspicuous when the item is assembled. The product has a single solid bar of aluminum that anchors the vertebrae, skull and pelvis. The parts fit together so nicely that you can easily tell if you slid a bone on backward. There are four bags of bones that correspond to four major parts of the skeletal assembly, just slide the bones on in ascending or descending numerical order! I was able to pit this thing together in about 15 minutes and it was fun to see how all the bones fit together to create the skeleton. The detail of the product is spectacular, some people call it "museum quality"; close enough -but I wouldn't exactly say that. The details of the bones and the color scheme chosen makes it look incredibly realistic, almost as though you own an authentic baby rex skeleton! When the whole thing is assembled and viewed from a step back, you cannot see the plastic mold seams -giving credibility to the realism. Upon closer inspection you can see that the surface of the bones are textured plastic with a seam here or there, but once again, this item does not come off as a toy at first sight, you'd think this was part of a miniature exhibit. The obvious intention of this item is for educational and of course, entertaining purposes. The skeleton can be easily disassembled and re-assembled numerous times, allowing students or amateur paleontologists to really get a feel for the architecture of the skeleton, and how each bone plays its part. There are a handful of small bones that could possibly be swallowed by an infant, namely a few neck vertebrae, but for the most part the bones are large enough to handle easily, sections of the end of the tail are pre-formed vertebrae to insure the least amount of small parts necessary. This product is perfect for the ages listed in the description, and the fact that the whole skeleton "rests" on its base rather than "fits" onto it, allows for the handler to simply pick up the skeleton and handle it, then set the toes into their pre-forms in the rock base (which is hollow plastic, but very sturdy) -just keep it out of reach of bumping or nudging it, because the entire skeleton will just flop right off of its base, its heavy enough to possibly do minor damage to other objects, so just keep it in an area where the only time you touch it, is when you intend to handle it.The entire skeleton is very sturdy when assembled, especially if the end-cap bones such as the tail or the skull are fitted tightly onto the aluminum frame, keeping the vertebrae and ribs secured. Honestly if I were a high school teacher or something, this skeleton is perfect for educating students about dinosaurs, especially T. rex. I keep this thing on my glass coffee table, it appears close to model-detail-quality and fits perfectly among other artifacts and models I collect. I highly recommend this! 5Finally! A Realistic (and Large) Dinosaur Model!I love dinosaurs! Sadly, though, there are very few museum-quality replicas of dinosaurs for dinosaur lovers like me to purchase and proudly display in my home. Too many models are flimsy, unrealistic, or too small for bookshelf or wall shelf displays. This T-Rex by Edu-Toys Science Tech joyously met all my demands and expectations. Easy to assemble, this 36-inch long bony beast is fantastic! After assembling it and mounting it on a specially installed wall shelf, it never fails to garner much awe and attention of visitors to my home. This model is by far and away the best "small-scale" replication of any T-Rex found in museums. If you're into dinosaurs, but often found yourself disappointed by some of the less than impressive models out there (like me), then this is the model for you. 5Really an excellent quality model that is easy to buildI purchased this years ago on a whim. It is still standing proud and tall on display in my Man Cave, and is the center of many conversations. Really an excellent quality model that is easy to build, and beautiful to display right out of the box. I wasn't writing many reviews when I bought this, but wish I had submitted one on this fine piece of work way back than. Highly recommend to anyone interested in having a quality show piece in thier decor. 5Very Cool Model For The PriceYou can spend hundreds for these types of dinosaur models, or you can spend around $50 for Elenco's model. It looks impressive off in a corner. People wil look at it and think all kinds of flattering things about you. However if you have it displayed on a special table in the middle of your living room people may take you for a tool. It's easy and fun to put together. I was surprised at how well made it is.It's also an inexpensive and great gift for the "right" people. Kids will love it. People curious about the sciences will love it. I'm not sure whether pro bowlers, venture capitalists, or politicians would go for it, but who knows. The only complaint I have about it (and it's a very minor complaint) is that when you're not around people will mess with it. It stands delicately on its two legs and will easily fall apart when touched. But that's not a problem as the parts are sturdy and go back together in seconds. So don't get upset when you see it in pieces every now and then (and that WILL happen). 5
