Customer Reviews

Excelente calidadExcelente calidad 5Perfect!I love this little train! The prop goes around as the train moves forward or backward. The buttons on top of the train are so easy to control, even when the train is in motion. Before starting to move, the train makes noises and then continues to make train noise for about 15 seconds or so. It has good weight to it, and moves quickly on the track. Hape mastered the battery powered toy train with this one! 5Nice train .. couple of negativesVery well made . Propeller fins broke off but took months of drops from a 3 yr old toddler. Train runs great , just don t expect it to go up hill or over bridges ( with or without cars attached ) My son doesn t seem to mind and likes helping his train along . 3Gotta Have this Engine! While this little engine is not the best at hills, I absolutely love the whirring propeller, the ability to let it freewheel and the dazzling look of it! It pulls a decent train on flat track and at a good clip, and is so fun to watch chug along! I'd buy again in a heartbeat for a present for a train lover! It did go uphills at first, but it's battery power for that drained quick and then it could only go on level track. And the reason it could go uphills at all is that I put grippy tape on my uphill tracks, which by the way Thomas' Black Coal Hiro goes up fantastically! I have Brio tracks and accessories with a few Thomas features, and these are my first two 'other' battery engines. For those that are interested and willing to have yellow on their tracks, I bought yellow grip tape for embroidery hoops and laid it in the grooves of the track. It is a touch wider than brio grooves and takes some doing/patience but it makes hills more possible. Have yet to try it on double hill...Changed from four to five stars... even if it needs a bit of help uphill, it is my favorite train! I play the sound effects for my grandbaby when she needs a bit of light distraction. 51 year old and 4 year old fight over it. Summary:This train is pretty neat.. It has a good weight and feel to it. It moves pretty well although has trouble going up hills. It can also be used without wood tracks but has trouble on carpet. The sounds are very cool and borderline realistic. The speaker is pretty clear. The magnet holds onto coaches well. It goes forwards and backwards on the track, takes two aaa batteries, and with good use they will last a couple days so buy a multipack. Over all I m satisfied with it although it does have a couple flaws.Full review..My son got this as a gift for his 4th birthday and he absolutely loves it. He plays with it every now and again with and without the wooden tracks. I ll go over some of the major components of the train to help anyone considering the train.Movement.. it moves pretty well but it does have trouble on certain pieces of track, like tight turns, special track pieces, and up hills most notably. This is where the train loses its star from my review. I think this should be resolved, especially at this price point. Besides that it moves pretty well on most other surfaces besides carpet. It also has a switch on the bottom so you can unlock the wheels and roll it around yourself. This is a nice touch, especially because you can still turn on the train and let it play it s sounds and twirl the propeller while you push it around the track.Sounds.. the sounds are awesome, the speaker is very clear and the effects they chose sound pretty realistic. In forward it starts off with an awesome steam whistle and the fan starts spinning. After the fan starts spinning for a second the train starts to move as the sound of chuffing and a propeller start to play pretty loud through the speaker. Not too loud though. The attention to detail is incredible to where they have the timing of the movement or the train and propeller timed to their corresponding sounds. The sound will stay on for maybe thirty seconds or less and then shuts off but your train continues to move. There is a middle button that stops the train and when the train stops it makes this cool screeching sound timed to exactly when the propeller stops moving. Very fun. There is also a reverse button that sends the train going backwards and the propeller turns again while the sound of a propeller and a ding ding of the bell start to play through the speaker. Very satisfied with the attention to detail here.Batteries.. needs two triple a batteries and it goes through them pretty quick so you will probably need to buy lots. We used them up in a couple days of constant use. Keep in mind that when the batteries start to die the train will start shutting off (not just slowing down but completely shutting off) under strain. The reason I say to make note is that I didn t realize it would use the batteries so fast and this kind of behavior Made me feel like the train could be broken. Luckily it was not broken and with some new batteries the trains behavior returned to normal. Also to note, the battery compartment cover is made out of metal, I just feel like it s a nice touch.Durability.. our train has been played with by our four year old and our one year old. It has been tossed and dropped multiple times on multiple hard and soft surfaces and it still remains in tact fully and functioning correctly. Some of the paint has started to come off the bottom but that s about it. It has also been played with incorrectly. There is a little switch on the bottom so you can make the wheels go free for you to play with it as if it didn t have batteries and roll it around the track. Sometimes my one year old likes to force push it on the ground even when the switch has it locked to the loving wheels and this seems to have no effect on the trains function as of yet.Likeability.. we have probably a hundred different trains and coaches, and this one is now my sons favorite. Not sure how long that will last but he has been playing with it on and off quite a bit. In fact him and my one year old both love it and try to take it from each other. Both of them love to push it around on and off the track. I even like this train honestly. I love that the speaker is pretty decent and that the sounds are not only realistic (not repative and annoying) but they sounds super cool, the chuffing mixed with the sound of a propeller. I highly recommend for any train aficionado 4Piece of junkThis is the second one we ve ordered- the first had a threaded screw, so we could never open the battery compartment to put batteries in. This one won t move forward or backward, but the propeller works. 1Quality toyMy kids are crazy about this propeller engine. Definitely a good buy! 5Defective buttons on topSo....bought this back in July, trying to get the jump on Christmas shopping. But, here we are at Christmas and the buttons on top of this train do not work (yes, I did put batteries in it). This really sucks as we have a defective, non-working train and it is too late to return it. Morale of the story: don t buy Christmas presents early. Don t buy THIS train early as it didn t work out of the box. We are really bummed out. 1We like this trainWe like this train. It does not drain battery as fast as other trains we own. You can use it with battery and without. You can change that on the bottom of the train. The wheels getting disconnected from the motor. Our son likes to play it often without the electric motor. It than moves easily on the tracks when you push it with the hand. Nice made. Propeller stops without problem when you touch it. Does not keep rotating. The sounds are loud but nice. The buttons on the top are very easy to use.Two thumbs up. 5Fun Addition to ANY Wooden Train SetI love the sounds and propeller movement. This is a unique train as my son has so many but none that look, sound and move like this. The train needs 2 AAA batteries. You can flip the switch under the train to disengage the gear mechanism to allow free play (push the train around the track yourself) but the propeller still moves along with the sounds when you push the forward, stop or back button. This train fits on any of the brands that make standard size wooden train track and connects to any standard size wooden train with a magnetic coupling too. Very cute and fun! 5
