Customer Reviews

Great way to get kids to exercise! My children love playing with this kite! We received it as a Christmas gift. It is a great way to get your kids to run and exercise without them even realizing it. My 6 year old can run fast enough to get it going on days it's not windy, but my 3 year old can't unless there's some wind. We like to take this to the beach, and usually there's enough breeze that you can stand there and it will fly high! It is very well made and much stronger than those plastic pocket kites. It's well worth the $2-3 extra dollars! 5Five Starsfun kite 5This kite is poorly designed to the point where it ...This kite is poorly designed to the point where it simply twirls around in a downward motion before it collides into the ground. Stay far, far away. The positive reviews here are likely paid for. 1Fine kite, could be betterDidn't buy from Amazon, but I have the same kite. Works fine but definitely needs some solid wind, probably 8-10 mph sustained would be ideal. Biggest piece of advice is to add a fishing swivel to the connection between the flying line and the bridle connector. When I first used the kite, reeling it in would introduce a TON of twist to the line, which made the kite want to do spiral flips and things, and also ended up tangling the line up so much. It was terrible. I added the tiny fishing swivel and the problem is gone. The tail seems to also add some instability due to the length, I tied the end of the tail up near the back of the kite to shorten the tail and that helps a little bit.All in all, fine kite that is relatively easy to fly, super portable, and packs up tiny. I keep it in my backpack for some lazy flying during lunch or off the parking garage rooftop. 3Charlie Brown's nightmareThese kites are poorly designed. Too heavy for a light wind and too unstable for a strong wind, and the strings and tails get really tangled up. Look for something else. 1Three StarsIt doesn't really fly well 3Inexpensive Miniature Pocket Parafoil Kite, 3 StarsThis is a small, foldable, very compact nylon 'parafoil' kite, which means it does not have (or need) any rigid frame. So it's a sack of fabric which inflates itself in the wind. Makes it vry portable to just cram in a backpack or a pocket and go.Clever design, and there are a lot of almost identical parafoil kites available now from a range of manufacturers. One excellent vendor of high quality parafoil kits I like is 'INTO THE WIND', based in Denver, Colorado...they are worth checking out. Now, about this kite:PRO'S: Extremely lightweight. Packs very flat in its own nylon drawstring bag, which is generously oversized to allow for getting all the kite, streamers, cord etc back into the bag.Nylon and stitching are all fine. The winding spool is flat and rectangular to conserve bulk. It's well sewn.No kite is indestructible, but this one seems decently made.CON'S:Each of these I've seen comes with the entire kite in just one "main body" color, then with the little winglets in white (body colors are medium blue, lime green and a Tang orange). Aesthetically that's either a plus or a minus, so that's very personal. Each of the colors is fine, but this is not a 'rainbow' design like some of the competing brand's pocket parafoil kites. The other Con is that the design allows the strings and streamers to get tangled more than some competing kites. This may or may not happen to you. Also, the streamers are not solid ribbons of nylon or myar like other brands, but indivisual lengths of string with some small triangles of fabric attached here and there. Much more likely to tangle than the ribbon designs. This isn't obvious until you open it up and get it in the air.Currently this retails around $10-$11, shipped. That seems a fair price. For a few dollars more, if you comparison shop, you'll find competing brands with larger sizes and more colors for around $18-$22. Your choice. There are a lot of pocket kites out there now to choose from. This one is fine, if you don't need a lot of color and you don't mind having to untangle the string streamers (which can become a nuisance). Of course you can improvise your own ribbon streamers easily enough if you'd like a DIY project.Pocket Kites are a lot of fun. If you're new to kites, do go check out INTO THE WIND's wide range, the variety is wonderful.Hope this is helpful. Happy kiting, everybody. 3Very colorful and easy to useVery colorful and easy to use! My grandsons were enthralled, and could get it to fly just by running. They will learn how to fly it standing still eventually. Love the color and solid construction! 5Flies well - with modification - but tangles easily! We received two as a gift - not sure if purchased from Amazon or not. Tried to fly them on the beach on a very windy day. Winds were at least 15-20 mph sustained. First one only wanted to spiral a few feet off the sand, then quickly became hopelessly tangled. Second one was only a bit better until a passerby gave me a tip: take the bag the kite came in and tie it to the end of the kite's tail. Voila! It went into the air on the very first try and absolutely refused to come down! If you have one of these, definitely try this (but I'd probably use something other than the bag if you want to still be able to use the bag for storage). However, the first time I tried to bring the kite down it got so hopelessly tangled that it was done for the day. As another review states, the design makes it highly likely to tangle when reeling it in, and nearly impossible to untangle in a windy environment. Two stars because it really did fly very well - once. Can't rate it higher because 1) it required a modification to fly, meaning the design was flawed, and 2) I'm not sure if I'll be able to untangle it enough to ever use it a second time. 2Pocket KiteThis is great to keep in the picnic bag and we have used it often. Sometimes the strings get tangled on a very windy day but can be untangled when we get home and have time. I would recommend this kite. 5
