    Good sized board and piecesBoard is not really very good wood but suitable for a beginner player. The storage area is ample with elastic to hold pieces in place. Overall a very good buy. 4Low cost - low qualityIt s a low-budget low-quality set for beginners or kids learning the game. The craftsmanship was poor. Split wood on bishop and blemishes on board. The plastic liners inside fell out immediately because the glue job was sloppy. Made in China. 2It looks bigger in the pictureThe chess set arrived fast as expected from amazon prime.I actually was expecting it would be bigger before I got it, but I did measure the board when it arrived and it was as described in Amazon.The chess pieces were made of wood with below average carving skills as to quality and extremly light in weight. If you would just be looking at the pieces they do look good untill you pick them up and hold them.As a toy for my kid this is just ok. I decided to keep the set instead of sending it back because in Toys "R" US I visited recently, for the same price you get a smaller set. 3good buyVery nice and well constructed. A pleasure to play with. Pieces are of decent weight and height. Pieces can be stored inside with their own strap loops. 5Nice but with design flawVery nice Chess Set for families, not too fancy. The pieces have a good weight but are not heavy but we love the size. This is really what we were looking for in terms of quality, size and price point. The only thing is the latch is not aligned with the edge of the case, therefore when you open it up and lay it flat, it is raised ever so slightly on the one side. Not noticeable if you playing on the carpet or table-clothed table. However, on uncovered furniture it WILL scratch. Thought it was something we could fix after we received product since other reviewers mentioned this flaw, however, you can not. Otherwise, we are happy with set. 4Pretty good value, but a silly design errorThis is a very large board/box with large pieces. Makes for easy play, though the set feels casual. One big complaint: the latch mechanism sticks out below the bottom edge when it's open, so it does NOT lie flat on a table. And the latch part will scratch up your table. I ended up taking the latch off with a screwdriver. This is simply a poor design. 3Nice setPieces are a little small for the size of the board. Also no letters/numbers on the edge. Wood is of good quality and pieces are well made. 4Very Poor DesignI thought people who reviewed this item were being harsh with regard to the projection of the clasp. It became quite apparent that the clasp would mar the surface on whatever it was placed. 1Not badBoard is not bad. Actually it's very good for the price. The other reviews mentioning the latches is accurate. Remove them or play on a pad. Board is big and doesn't quite come together at the hinges when open. Still not bad. The problem I had was the pieces didn't match. The dark pieces were perfect but light pieces were way smaller and very poorly carved. No detail at all. I'm assuming I just got a bad one. Pieces are not heavy at all but thy serve the purpose and felt bottoms seem glued on well. Overall a good set. If the pieces weren't wrong I'd have given it 5 stars. I would recommend it but be aware the pieces could be wrong. If you want a nice big board this is good. Just buy nicer pieces. 3Exceeded expectations. Large quality set.This board is larger than most portable chessboards. It is about the size of a large pizza box. The pieces are correspondingly large.You will not complain that you can't see the board or the pieces clearly enough. And if you do, then it is time to get prescription glasses.The board in particular is of high quality. I was pleasantly surprised that it even had a scent of a fine wood.If you are looking for a large portable chess set at an affordable price, then I highly recommend this set.Pros:1)Large chessboard and pieces. The board is about the size of a large pizza box.2)Surprisingly high quality paint and wood. Refined looks.3)Foldable and portable.4)Very affordable.Cons:1)None I can think of. 5
