Customer Reviews

Inviting, Simple, Safe, and Educational! My almost-two-year-old daughter lit up when she saw this toy! I placed the peg board in front of her and just left the pegs in the open box for her to choose which ones she wanted. The design is simple, yet inviting. With no instruction or help from me, she grasped a peg and poked it right into one of the holes. She has room to increase her fine motor skills as the holes are tight (no doubt to hold the pegs securely--also awesome), and the suggested activities will be very beneficial to her early learning. My daughter still (sometimes) puts objects in her mouth, and these pegs are large enough that they don't pose a safety concern in the slightest way. The only issue the mother of a young child could have is the potential for messes if the pegs get spread around a room...but that is inevitable with any toy that teaches sorting and building. I can also say that it's easy to make sure all pegs are present--there are five each of five colors! This will make a great activity basket! 5IncompleteI love Lauri materials but this is a bit of a disappointment. There are 36 holes yet only 25 pegs. I am a preschool teacher and when the children use this pegboard, it disturbs their sense of order as there are not enough pegs to fill each hole. They say they are "missing." The children are right! I know the pegs are also meant to stack but the children also like to fill the holes. Instead of having five red, five orange, five yellow, five green, and five blue pegs, it should have six of each color so they can line up pegs in rows of matching colors. Also, it should have six purple to complete the rainbow and fill every hole. But that is just my two cents. 3Durable Multi-use GameMy son got this 'game' at 18 months...he's almost 3 now and this is still one of his more heavily rotated toys in our homeschool. Initially we used it just for colour recognition/sorting and basic motor skills, but now they are a nice tool for counting and adding/subtracting. In between, itches been great for open ended play- 'building ice creams', towers, trees and magic wands..It is a durable set and still beautiful after a year and half of heavy use.I wish there were more pegs (the board has 36 holes and there are 25 pegs) and the box needn't be so large, hence 4 stars. 4Okay toy, limited appeal. Maybe better with more pegs??Added this set to have something new for grandchildren's visits. Ages 2.5-6. In independent play, the oldest makes tall tower(s), the youngest stacks separately by color, and the middle one does all of the above, plus uses the base. With interactive play, some of the other suggested uses can be fun, but it's not proven to be their first choice of activities. Not as versatile as hoped, but it is an ok toy. If it had more pegs, it would give opportunities for more play. Would recommend for 2-4-yr olds. Not enough challenge/interest to invest in for older children. 3Good toy for hand coordinationI got these pegs for my 12 month old baby because she is an occupational therapy and the therapist had been bringing them over. They're really good for her hand coordination and my child likes using them. I also like these because it helps her learn colors and we actually bring these in the bathtub or in the outdoor inflatable swimming pool. I love toys that can be used for more than one purpose and these are great item. 5Good for Developing Fine Motor StrengthThis is a great developmental toy, especially for kiddos with fine motor challenges, because the pegs will stack up, and it can also be used for teaching concepts of colors and patterns. We've had it for 3 years now, and finally, finally, our son is able to get the pegs into the foam board. That is actually my only criticism of this toy, the peg holes on the foam board are bit tighter then I think is necessary and can make it pretty challenging if there are a lot of fine motor challenges. We have been using this for the entire 3 years though, because we have been working up to that point, and because the pegs were easier to get together individually then to push into the foam holder, there was a time when he was putting them together like a giant spear and running around the house with it, which added an element of use to this toy I hadn't considered, but since it made my son happy, I thought it was cool. 4Great for post-stroke rehabilitation! This stacker set was a gift for my uncle - he is a rehabilitation specialist, working with post-stroke recovery patients. Even though it's considered a children's toy, it makes a great rehabilitation tool. His adult patients have fun using it, and it can be quite a challenge to stack more than 2, which makes this a very useful multi-session tool. The pegs themselves are sturdy, have a good weight and bright colors - great purchase! If you found this review "Helpful", please click the button below. 5Tight fitting piecesMaybe it's just me, but I find these legs very hard to push together and pull apart. I have a developmentally delayed almost 3 year old and a 1.5 year old and neither can actually push them together. They can pull them apart, with effort. They seem to fit too toghtly together. I have tried wiggling and working with them for a while and they haven't loosened up much. More frustrating than fun. Our occupational therapist has the shorter pegs with a wider top and they are much easier to handle and play with. 3Great toy for kids of different agesI have a one year old and a three year old autistic son and both my kids love this toy so much! We've had many therapists who've had similar toys but I'm happy we got this one in particular. They are a large size so I'm not worried about my one year old choking on them. My kids can also play together with this toy. You can stack them or sort them my color or make patterns or designs. The blue board you out them seems pretty sturdy too I was worried my son would try to take a bite out of it but he hasn't yet. 5We returned this game. Got it for our 2 ...We returned this game. Got it for our 2 year old's birthday because she loves stacking stuff. I found that the pegs were a very snug fit and she had too much trouble fitting the pegs into one another. Frankly, I also had a hard time fitting the pegs in. 2
