Great buy but I have some tips....Great book and system but I recommend that you plan on sitting with the child to help them go through the book together the first couple of times because I found that it can be a little overwhelming for them and easily discourage them unless you walk them through it well so they can see how it works exactly. They will be more engaged by it then and I believe they get more out of it and learn better, like the books are intended to teach them. After that, the repetition and working on their own a bit really embeds the knowledge for them. I bought this for my 3.5 yr old grandson who is very tech savvy already and quite sharp. :) I hope this review helped. 5ABC TimeI purchased this for my 2 and 1/2 year old to start leaning his abc's. The book is great and works great. I do not like that it does not work until it is programmed on a computer. You can't just buy the book and put it on the system and use it. This is a pain as our Internet at home does not always work and we actually had to wait to install it for the child to use it. One sad child there, got a new book and couldn't use it till days later :( 4Engaging, Interactive and Fun! Perfect for 2.5 Year Old. Money Well Spent!My 2.5 year old is extremely engaged with her LeapStart and this book. By the way, the one star review from the buyer who complained it didn't make sounds was obviously not informed it ONLY works with a LeapStart System. My daughter will sit with this book whilst I do the laundry or cook dinner. I wanted an interactive device for her other than the iPad. She is extremely apt with the iPad and granted we have lots of educational apps on it, I feel less guilty if she spends a lot of time with her LeapFrog LeapStart system. This book is fantastic for her age. I'm actually surprised she is engaged to this extent. It's the only book we own other than the demo that came with the LeapStart system. Money well spent. 5Not compatible with LeapReader 3DI got these for my LeapReader 3D and the audio part works well enough but disappointing, I found out that 3D compatible books are a whole other category. This severely limits the usefulness of the LeapReader 3D system as the catalog of 3D books is rather limiting. In all this is pretty disappointing.The 3D display merely requires a software update but LeapFrog has decided to skimp on it and this makes the experience really underwhelming. 3Don t buy Leapfrog productsDon t buy Leapfrog products! The stylus on this product regularly stops working and the company only allows for a 3month warranty exchange. After 3 months you simply throw everything away because the company feels no responsibility for providing repair or parts. Don t buy in the first place is the only solution. 1Stickers were cut wrong, kid hates the book nowThe stickers were cut improperly on the reward page. The pictures of stickers show up perfectly but the perforations are clearly from a different template so that when you peel off a sticker you end up with a totally wrong shape and no actual characters in your sticker. Imagine a round picture or Dory, but the sticker was cut as a large rectangle that only includes 3% of Dory and 97% background. 1Great Learning BookI absolutely love this book to help my daughter learn to read and write.She is three and has grasped how to write most of her letters due to me creating dot to dot letters for her to trace. This also does the dot to dot form and it does help a lot. It also has mazes and different cute characters. There is variety and it keeps my daughters interest, which is always the hardest to find. I would recommend this. 5I k now they will help him to learn to read and write while having fun too. My oldest grandchildren had them all several ...all of the Leap Frog products are for the same little 4 yr old who just started pre k this fall, I k now they will help him to learn to read and write while having fun too. My oldest grandchildren had them all several years ago, but have lost them over the years. I only have one more grandchild to buy this stuff for and she is less than 2 right now so I have plenty of time to find her favorites! I have given all 4 of my grandchildren Leap Frog books and pens they are well worth there price, for the learning fun and abilities. I will always stand by this product. 5A bit disappointing (coming from a big Leapstart fan)My 2 year old daughter is in love with her Leapstart and she can spend hours playing with it. I buy all the books available for her age plus the next level. When I saw this, I thought it's perfect since she loves Peppa, since I read the books to her, but I was disappointed with this one. It's not interactive. It's a storybook and she touches a button and it reads the sentence. The beauty of the Leapstart books, in my opinion, is that it's interactive and she learns cause and effect. This book sadly doesn't do that and my daughter hardly picks this book to put in her leapstart. 3Significant Problems with Audio (Missing Key Words: "Look for number ______" )While this particular book may be a good tool for learning with the complete audio, I have found in the time that I have been sitting with my 3 year old and doing some of the activities that the audio is missing key words. For example, it will say "Find the watering can with the number ____" and then it will keep demanding for you to find the watering can with the number when you touch the little blue tip box. Unfortunately, just guessing is not going to help my child with number recognition and I truly hope that the parents who really like this product actually have complete audio, and it's not that they don't realize that this elaborate product has some significant defects. Perhaps it's because we have a mac and it did take a little trial and error to get the downloading app to work on our computer. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but the problem is not with the download, the audio is simply missing the words. Not cool. The product is virtually worthless if it can't help my child learn.So, update: I informed the company, who said that they already knew this was an issue. I requested that they would let me know when they fixed it, and they said that would, now this was several weeks ago. How long can it take?I guess my next question is, if they already knew this was an issue, why would they sell a defective product in the first place? By the way, anyone else who has purchased the preschool math book has the same issue, if you haven't noticed, or are considering purchasing one. This has sown some serious distrust of the company and any other books they might sell. 2
