Customer Reviews

Learning resources animals are such a great value compared to other brandsWithout exaggerating my daughter has played with these very day for the past 2 years. She loves them. Learning resources animals are such a great value compared to other brands. She has several of the sets and they all get constant playtime. I am sure she will be playing with theses until she is at least 6 and then I count on them being great for school projects. 5Love these toysOne of the few durable/age diverse toys that we really love. Makes excellent presents. Has withstood 3.5yrs with my destructo child and will live for the next. Also a good size. It's a softer but durable type of plastic that i like. Some of our other animal toys are a harder/solid plastic and my kid gnaws on those and chew them up. He's been able to do very little damage to these. Their only weakness is bathtime- don't let your kid play with them in the bath. They've got all these little detail grooves that make them catch mold and they aren't water tight. (hollow) 5Definitely not as pictured but okayI was hesitant to purchase these for my daughter because of the mixed reviews but our local children's museum has these and she absolutely loves to play with them. I've included a couple of pictures so you can see what I'm talking about as far as quality/looks go.Honestly I'm a bit disappointed in these jumbo jungle animals. The size is perfect for my toddler (almost 24 months) and they do have a nice weight to them which is why I'm giving them at least three stars. Simply put- they don't look like the picture (on here or the "activity guide" they come with). The paint job is extremely inconsistent, the faces on some are a little off, and they have huge seams where they were put together. The giraffe is extremely difficult to get to stand up and our tiger leans quite a bit on flat surfaces. My daughter will play with them of course but for the price (about $20) I don't think they are worth it. From a parent standpoint they aren't dishwasher safe and unfortunately you can't submerge them because water will get trapped inside according to the care instructions. Overall I think they are just okay but I'm not sure I would ever give them as a gift or purchase another set. 3jumbo, they bend like thick rubber, durable, and perfect for play!so I worked at a big daycare were they had these nice jumbo rubber animals. they were sturdy, an jumbo an the kids at the daycare loved playing with them. I do beleive these are the same ones! they are like thick rubber instead of hard plastic or heavy like the scheilch figures wich i prefur because my kids are crazy an throw things lol. but just because there rubber does not mean there not durable. I think some people assume they wont last but they will. the kids expeshaly the boys at the daycare were very very hard on these guys . but they have been at the daycare for years an still going strong! played with by several kids on the daily. I just love them! I cant wait to get more animal sets by them. I got these to start an animal collection for my 13 month old for christmas. she will be about 17 months almost 18 months by the time christmas rolls around but I no she will love them! an there heavy an sturdy enugh to were they are going to hole up well an well made, but light an just squishy enugh to wear there is no way shes gna get hurt by them or ruin them. anyone who says they are not well made simply because its not your typical hard plastic are mistaken. the rubber bends an just bounces right back unlike hard plastic that breaks an can cutt you. they allso make a great sensory toy because I noticed kids are more drawn to these animal figures way more then they were the expnsive heavy duty animals similar to scheilch. there also allot cheaper price wise an bigger for lil hands. I gues you could say the paint job is not fantastic but I think people wereover reacting on some of the reviews about the paint job thing. I feel like they compare it to the sceilch figures far too often and they are more for collecting an putting up on a shelf then playing. these are for play an im almost posative your lil one is not gna care about the paint job, because you its still pretty good. you dont even notice unless you place them next to scheilch figure. 5Possible reason for mixed reviews. The first set I ordered came missing the gorilla. Because I had gotten them at a cheap price (12$ on sale) I almost didn't exchange. I'm so glad I did. Please read as there were significant differences as you can see in the photos.the original I received size size were great. But the quality and "paint" job were awful. The seams were horrible and misaligned and the paint was so cheap looking. Honestly dollar store quality. However my son loved them so I exchanged for a new set since the one I order came missing the gorilla. The new set was so different! Much better quality wise. Although the the animals were slightly smaller than the original set, they were solid sturdy heavier plastic (original was light and could be squished). Also the paint design was so much more realistic with the replacement. I'm not sure what's going on with these items but they were almost like 2 completely different brands...but they both said learning resources. Take a look at the pictures and see what I'm talking about.Key points:Original order animals wereLargerLighter softer plasticsqueezableSeams and paint job poorReplacement order:Animals slightly smallerFirmSolid hard plasticSeams matched up, almost couldn't see themPaint/design more realisticThe original not as nice order came in a much larger box as you can see in the photo I uploaded. 3Great size! The kiddos love them! Perfect for teaching!I bought all of the Learning resources animals in the last 3-4 years. I have used them to teach my grand-children the names of the animals along with touch and feel books and Baby Einstein-Noah on YouTube. There are noticeable seams however for the size that they are and the teaching/playing possibilities are endless I feel they are of good value. The pictures are of a 15 month old who can give me the different animals as they are called. She cannot say the names of the animals as of yet but knows which animals they are as they are asked for. My other grand-daughters were 2 and 4 when I first got the set and learned the same way. 5Terrible QualityVery very dissapointed. With such great reviews I thought this was a no brainer. The person who painted my particular animals either had to be half asleep or have never seen a tiger before. I opened the box and was shocked to see how terrible the quality of painting was. I will include photos. If these were a third of the price they still would not be worth it. Such a brilliant idea (jumbo sized animals) carried out in a sloppy manner. Save your money. 1Reviews seem mixed but we really like these.I'm a little surprised at the wide variety of reviews for these. Perhaps the sets are not consistent? All I can review are the ones we received and we are very happy with them. These figures are larger than I had expected. The Giraffe is 13" high and the elephant is 12" long. The colors are bright and vibrant and reasonably realistic. My little one is hard on her toys and so far these are holding up very well. I'll update this review if she starts to wear them out! These are not cheap but I found them to be a good value. As with many items on Amazon it pays to watch pricing on items like these. This set and the farm animal set both ran as recent lighting deals at almost 50% off. Score!Note: I see a lot of people trying to compare these to the Schleich animals. The prices are roughly similar with Schleich being slightly higher per figure. I ordered three Schleich animals that I think will be good to match with this set. I'll report back on how they compare!Update: I purchases three Schleich animals. I was curious as to how they would compare to the Learning Resources sets and I figured a few more animals in our collection couldn't hurt! Here is my overall comparison:Price - Learning Resources seem to average out as less per animal.Quality - Schleich animals are much more sturdy. Apparently they are solid while the Learning Resources animals are hollow. Honestly there are advantages to both here. My daughter is 3 years old and I prefer the softer Learning Resources animals. They are soft to the touch and fairly flexible. I feel they are safer for toddler play both on your child and on your furniture! The soft Learning Resources animals are not going to damage small hands or your coffee table. The Schleich animals are hard enough to do some damage if smacked against your furniture or you child!Size - Learning Resources animals are larger. Once again I find this better especially for younger children.Realism - Schleich wins this hands down. The detail of each animal is better with Schleich and the colors seems to be much more realistic. If these are for education purposes especially with school age children Schleich may be the way to go. On the other hand the brighter colors of the Learning Resources animals may be better for preschoolers. Now that I have had the change to compare both brands I still prefer the Learning Resources animals for preschoolers. This seems to be the target audience for these sets. For older kids you may want to look more seriously at Scheich. 5I'm shocked at the poor quality of your jumbo animalsUpdate: I contacted the company and within 2 days they had explained the error in defective kit (changing manufacturers) and promised to send me a replacement.Original review :I'm shocked at the poor quality of your jumbo animals. The farm set was somewhat ok (the painting on the horse was so sloppy) but the jungle set is horrible!I can't take them away from my 2 year old to return them. What is the solution?1. I've never seen a red tiger.2. The elephant has pink paint splatter3. The giraffe looks like his skin is pealing.4. The lions butt is glued on crooked! 3Not the normal quality I expect from Learning Resources products-very disappointingI thought these were supposed to be really great so I was excited when my price watch showed a price dip so I could snap them up for my daughter. They're "solid" like the other animals I've seen. These are hollow plastic--the benefit being, I suppose, that they are light-weight. They are not molded together well and in addition to pieces like the tails barely staying notched in place, you can see huge glue spots and color variation where the heads connect to the bodies, for instance. They don't stand up properly on their own (think of a table with one leg slightly shorter than the rest) and the colors for the tiger in particular were incredibly off: think neons. The other thing I'd like to reiterate from the description to make sure other people see it, too, is that these really are jumbo sized animals. They will not fit comfortably into a toddler or young child's hand. My adult-sized hand didn't fit around the elephant to give you some perspective. I'm most disappointed by the quality of these animas. I expect more from Learning Resources. 1
