Customer Reviews

Nice conceptI was in need of a tool that draws circles but doesn't leave holes in my paper, like a regular compass. The idea behind this product is great, move the slider to set your radius and away you go. The execution, however, was not very good.Like others have said, unless the slider can be clamped down to stay still, your circles will come out uneven despite your best attempts. Even if you only want this product for quick circles that look 'good enough', the rotating piece at one end where the picture shows someone holding it down with their finger isn't great either. It's very hard to spin this piece and as a result you have to use force to complete a revolution, which practically guarantees that the slider will move while in use. This can be remedied by the use of another pencil to 'pin' the compass down while the other pencil marks the circle, but since the hole in the rotating bit is larger than the end of a pencil it still comes out wobbly.I will say, though, that I like the mini-protractor on it. If I weren't so bad at drawing circles this would be a 5-star product. 3Works good! This product suited my needs with no complaints. Very good price, fast shipping, why not get the best from the best, from the A to Z Team! Highly recommended. 5Not very accurateI bought two of these and they were constructed the same and both had the same problem. The red slider moves freely and cannot be locked down making it extremely difficult to draw an arc correctly. It's about the same as drawing the arc freehand. I tutor Geometry and was trying to demonstrate constructing perpendicular lines, angles, & congruent angles and I could not do it with any accuracy. The red slider moved to freely and would not hold its position. I could not find a way to lock it in place and the instructions did not indicate there was any form locking mechanism. 1Rip-OffFor the price, this compass is not worth it at all! I brought and it didn't even last 1 day the circle thing that allows the compass to spin fell out every 5 seconds and the places where you put you're pen in to write move continuously. I would never buy this compass online maybe if it was a one-time use from the 99 cents store but i feel extremely ripped-off 1Needs practice to use correctlyThese were a great option for working in a detention facility where having the standard metal compass is not an option due to facility security. However, my high school students found them to be clunky to use and they didn't like them. I think with some time and practice they may eventually change their minds since it's better than the electronic versions which they didn't care for either. Our technology is outdated and clunky so I think this is going to be the better option for us. 4Fell apart within 10 minutes!I really wanted to like these! I purchased this after trying another one at school and loved how easy they are to use. I got these and within the first 10 minutes of using one, the red circle popped off. I was extremely disappointed at how cheaply made these were and how they don't hold up to use at all. 1Red slider doesn't lock into place = wiggly circlesI was hesitant to buy due to the reviews but I figured I would give it a try especially since it's inexpensive. Compass broke within a day or two. The re dslider doesn't lock into place so measurements were wiggly and off. My teen son couldn't draw a perfect circle, they always came out wiggly. My son's school has ones that were more sturdy and locked to make precise angles, circles etc. Even his teacher admitted they didn't make them like that anymore. Thankfully Amazon is amazing and I just returned it. 1Fragile and hard to use compared to another product near price pointI needed a compass (or two) that could be used on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil, so ordered this one and the Helix angle & circle maker at the same time to cover my bases (and hoping at least one of them would work). This one was slightly less expensive but significantly less value. Within a couple of minutes after removing it from the packaging, the red ring popped out when I put it down on the desk. Although I can kind of pop the ring back into place, it falls out very easily and the small clear plastic bit that it's supposed to be attached to is hard to find on the carpet, so I'm not expecting to be able to use it very long. Additionally, this compass is a lot harder to use than the Helix product. It is hard to hold the center in place while drawing an arc of more than about 180 degrees. With practice it might get easier, but why bother with the time and frustration of such a learning curve when there's a sturdier, easier-to-use product a click away?Just FYI, I have no problems with the red slider (where you put your pencil) moving too freely, as other reviewers have mentioned. It offers enough resistance that it doesn't slide unless intended. And, yes, it does work with the iPad and Apple Pencil. 2Waste of MoneyI admit it sounds useful and the concept sounds cool but in actual practice, it fails miserably. It's only function is to be able to rotate freely to allow making a perfect circle. It does not do that at all. It's too stiff to rotate. Just another product that goes in the bad buys bin.DO NOT BUY 1Broke before I could try it.Granted, I have hardwood floors, but dropping something from a desktop should not cause it to fall apart the way it did.If you're gonna buy it, I'm sure it works well, just... be careful not to drop it or treat it mean. Not gonna bother asking for a replacement because aside from the bullseye coming apart, it was very flimsy and I just need something that can take quite a bit of pressure without worrying it'll break. 1
