Customer Reviews

Very fun decks! The product shipped on time and the box as well as its contents were in perfect condition. As for the decks themselves, I really enjoy both of them! They are a little advanced so they may not be the easiest to use for beginners, but they are extremely fun to use none the less. The Elspeth deck is a very quick rush deck while the Kiora deck is a very slow but powerful deck. They seem unevenly matched because more often than not the Elspeth deck will rush the Kiora deck before it can get anything out on the field. But when Kiora survives for late game then the reckoning commences! 5FavoriteThis is my absolute favorite duel deck. I kept mine partially together and added In a few cards to make it a little more competitive. Was very glad to have played this dozens of time with my husband and taking a break from our usual routine and same old decks. I only wish that it came out waaaaaaay earlier. Elspeth is a beast and Kiora isn't too shabby. If nothing else you get two fine ladies to play with! 5Worth it!This is a really enjoyable set to play. The beginning of the game can be a struggle with Kiora's deck, but if you can make it for a while, then the deck comes into it's own.We did end up switching out Kiora for a different planeswalker though. She is too difficult to defend against Elspeth's deck with the way her deck is built. Elspeth is a BEAST though. My partner uses her in his own white deck, and I always die a little inside whenever he gets her into play. 5Great for casual players and beginnersI'm a casual MTG player who finds it tedious to go through hundreds of cards in a starter set to put together a deck, so these duel decks are a Godsend to me. I find the Elspeth vs Kiora combo especially fun to play for casual players or beginners. The decks practically play themselves. The Kiora deck is designed to ramp up land acquisition quickly so you can get tanks like a 7/11 Leviathan with trample out on the battlefield early, while the Elspeth deck is designed to put an army of soldiers out on the battlefield to overrun your opponent, especially once your soldiers are beefed up with abilities and enchantments. It's not an exponential growth deck like some red Goblin-based decks, but it's still easy to get a good sized army out on the battlefield quickly (as long as Kiora isn't forcing them back into your hand). I find the Elspeth deck a bit stronger and easier to play while the Kiora deck requires a little more strategy, but it's a fun combo with rare cards that result in some pretty epic battles. 4One of my favorite fuel decksGreat way to introduce magic to someone. It's fairly cheap; you won't get too many good cards. The decks are fun against each other and easy to play. 4Good deal but unbalancedI've gotten a lot of fun out of this game for what I paid, however, Kiora really struggles in this one. Her creatures are huge, but she has far too few cards to slow the pace of the game to actually get them out. Kiora has a couple key cards her deck is built around, whereas Elspeth is very flexible and can beat you multiple different ways. 4Good! Very good!Used cards in Kiora s deck to improve the Merfolk deck that came in the Merfolk vs Goblins Duel Decks and fought against Elspeth s deck and I gotta say- it gets interesting. Still have to try them both against the Goblin deck from the previously mentioned duel deck pack, but they are lots of fun and a great way to kill time. 5This is an absolute must buy for anyone who wants to see how fun magic is.This duel deck is absolutely everything I had hoped for with some added surprises. Elspeth vs Kiora is my second duel deck set, but it is by far far more fun then Jace vs Vraska. and that's saying quite abit as I still love playing my Jace deck on a regular basis.(gave my wife the Vraska deck) I want to write as full a review as I can, from the box it ships in itself, to the deck's gameplay. I have been looking forward to this for a very long time, and I am over joyed to finally own this master piece.Kiora: Before I go on to review this, let me tell you that I nearly died from the sheer awesome factor when I found out this was to be released. I started playing MTG last summer, when I believe Theros or Born of the Gods was the current set. Upon getting hooked on MTG from a co-worker teaching me, then building me a mono-blue deck as a gift, and first deck. He told me "Learn to play with a blue deck, and you can play anything" fast fwd to hitting the local gaming shop, and I bought my first deck. seen a deck box of Kiora. (the original art) and bought it, and swore I'd get the card and build a deck around her. and learning her lore, Kiora is exactly up my alley. And man, did they deliver. Kiora is a blue/green deck built around controlling the flow of Elspeth's relentless onslaught, while laying down extra lands to pull out your krakens, leviathans and other vicious nasties faster. With cards like the tidal wave, which removes all other creatures from play except for krakens, octopi, and leviathans, to really sneaky and nasty combos to help you gain an upper hand. (the draw cards and play extra lands, while you have the nasty snakes which gain +1/+1 for every card drawn does make this deck a very solid option) It may take some extra skill, and a touch of luck, but the fun factor is off the charts. And I find when my wife and I play, Kiora usually wins. The new art for Kiora is nice, and is actually alot flashier then Elspeth in my opinion. If your a dork like me, and like lore flavor in decks, there is plenty to be found. Just wait til you see "Temple of the false God" which also features Kiora in it, to other cards that have Kiora's quotes for flavor text, it's got it all. The only card that could have made this deck better would be dropping sea lock monster for sea worm. I can't understand why they even put it in there. except as a blocker. kind of a let down. but that's my only complaint for this portion of the deck.Elspeth: This is the surprise I mentioned. If you couldn't tell I wanted this "vs" deck soley for the Kiora deck, with the intention of giving Elspeth to my wife, and forget about it. And I won't lie, the Elspeth deck is nothing short of epic, and amazingly fun to play. Elspeth revolves around summoning out soldiers, in a very short amount of time, and turning around boosting them every which way you could. Gaining counters for other white creatures, for attacking, for general principle. (Lol) Then setting them up with vigilance. Elspeth herself is a super fun card to play, though the wife or I have never actually been able to use her yet. This is a solid deck. Not only does it have the ability to mow you down in a riddiculous fashion, it has really frustrating cards that prevent all damage, and sending Kiora's minions back into the murky depths from whence they came. Again, the deck has plenty of flavor, and replay value. I can honestly say if I keep playing it, it may become my favorite over the Kiora deck. The box it comes in is flashy, and the deck boxes look nice to. Also included is a manual, explaining the lore, and it could make a nice poster to. 5Great product for introductory playGreat product for introductory play. So far ive turned 5 of my friends on to magic by playing these duel decks. I started to get players into draft from these. Some serious fun from this stuff( elspath, i mean come on.) Looking forward to whats at play after this. Shadows over innestrad and eldritch moon are such a blast, keep up with the fun creativity, ill stay loyal! 5Beauty and power, plainswalkers that you must own.Two great, powerful plainswalkers, plus enjoyable decks. You'll get enough playable, valuable cards from this set to make it worthwhile for the collection, even if you don't intend to play as-is.As a fan of the card artwork over all else, I really enjoy the alternate artwork versions of Elspeth and Kiora, and the other included cards too. Simply beautiful. 5
