Not as cool as the commercialIt was an alright toy, but not as cool as the commercial made it look. My son spends most of his time playing outside and want this to explore the yard with and even though he brought it inside after playing with it every time it did not hold up for more than 3 months. 3Great for Outside Play/ Wish There Was a On/Off SwitchMy son turned 4 on his birthday, and he just had to have this Matchbox Treasure Tracker Metal Detector! Overall, this is a fun toy! He loves to drive it around the house. My main two concerns with the toy are this: first of all, you cannot turn it off, so it just keeps beeping until it automatically shuts off. Second, even though there is a knob to adjust the sensitivity of the metal detector, I think that it is picking up the nails under our carpet, because it keeps beeping over nothing. I do like that you are able to push the yellow metal detector ring up and just drive it as a truck. My son is really excited to play with it outside once it warms up a bit. The white sand sifter part can be removed and once you find your treasure (for example, in a sandbox) you can scoop it up with the sand collector and sift the sand through it so that your treasure can be revealed. This is a good purchase for a young boy or girl who loves to dig and explore. It also seems very sturdy, as my toddler has been driving it around and bumping it into things and we have had no problems. 4Cool sounds and lights!This is a very cool toy. Actually, my daughter wanted it. It would seem like a better toy for a boy, but she likes the idea of the treasure thing. The greatest thing about this truck are the sounds it makes. The sounds are great, that coupled with the nice bright lights that go off when you're over treasure makes for a great combination. The white scoop that you can see in the picture lifts off the front and creates a shovel that you can use to dig in the sand or dirt. I don't think you'd want to do much heavy digging with it because it would break, but its really good in the sand and loose dirt. Overall, its a really cool toy and my daughter uses it from time to time and has alot of fun with it. 4Fun to useThis is a fun little truck that holds up well. We've had it for years, and it is still going strong. I can't say that we've found anything too exciting, but it makes fun noises and is great for kids who like to push trucks around. So even if there's no hidden treasure, its still a fun toy. I would definitely recommend this! 5Needs one thing!!Would have given it full stars but IT HAS NO OFF SWITCH. It was great Christmas morning opening the box and playing with it. The first month I was able to deal with the repetitive noise. Now it is February I'm going crazy and the truck still won't shut up until you fold up the yellow metal detection area which my son refuses to do on his own. On another note. I thought I was going to have to hide jar lids under the rugs so he could find them and the truck could make noises. Turns out it's picking up on the nails in my hard wood floor and going off. 4Finders KeepersMy 4 year old nephew LOVED this! He spent hours on Christmas day hiding things and "finding" them. Perfect for children with a sandbox you can hide coins in. It worked a little too well, we had to turn down the sensitivity a bit in the house because it kept picking up the pipes in the basement. 5Seems to work, nifty little idea for kids.My youngest son got this for christmas. Its a awesome little toy. The shovel part is kinda flimsy, but I gave him a garden spade to use instead. Keeps him busy hunting for treasure. Seems to work, even though he hasn't found any treasure. Let me start by saying that my husband ...This thing is so cool! Let me start by saying that my husband is a pretty hard-core metal detecting enthusiast. Despite his best efforts, our five-year-old daughter really couldn't care less about his muddy treasures, but thinks it's pretty awesome to find her own. We buried some coins in loose dirt, so she could find something, and to test the truck's abilities. She got the coins and kept detecting, and she found a bunch of rusty old nails. So now my husband has a detecting buddy, and I have a decreased risk of contracting tetanus in the garden. It's a win-win! In all seriousness, this is an inexpensive, fun gadget. 5Not a real metal detector! Will not find nonferrous metals like Gold.This is an Iron detector not a metal detector!!Does not respond to nonferrous metals like GOLD!This will only find magnetic metal!It is an excellent well designed toy, no doubt about it. But don t buy this thinking your kids can find the gold earrings you lost in the back yard!! 4
