Great puzzle for preschoolersI debated getting this puzzle vs. others of the US since this one doesn't have individual pieces for each state. I ended up choosing this one b/c the graphics are better and I thought it might be easier for a 3-year old to do solo. Turns out to have been a good choice. My daughter enjoys putting it together and can easily do it on her own...just enough challenge to hold her interest without getting frustrated. As she puts it together, we talk about where we live and who we know that live in each of the other states and how close or far away that is from us. It's really not necessary to have 50 individual state pieces to learn the names and shapes of each state. And the packaging is great for storing b/c it stands up...young children can easily retrieve and open on their own. In all, it's a nice little educational toy. We also have the world map and it's a great puzzle as well. 5Great puzzles for toddlers through kindergarten!This is a great puzzles for toddlers through kindergarten (maybe even 1st grade)! I first came across it (and other Mudpuppy puzzles) at my local library. All the kids were attracted to this, including my son! He is 2.5 and really loves to put this puzzle together. He needs help at this point, but is steadily learning how to put the pictures/patterns/colors together, and having fun while doing it. The large pieces are easy for little hands to grasp and manipulate, and the puzzle is pretty large, so it keeps him occupied for a good amount of time as we work through the puzzle. I'd highly recommend this puzzle, and the other jumbo puzzles that Mudpuppy offers - we've had great luck with them! We also have a couple of their "pouch puzzles", and they're great for traveling. Enough pieces to put together, but few enough to keep up with all the pieces, and compact enough to fit in my bag for those times we go visiting. Try these puzzles out, you won't be disappointed! 5Bright, Big, Colorful and FunUnfortunately, Big Box stores don't carry a variety of larger piece puzzles, so I am loving Mudpuppy for selling on Amazon. My 3 & 4 year old LOVED this puzzle. The bigger pieces are great for my developmentally delayed 4 year old as they are incredibly easy to handle.And they are sturdy enough to withstand the voracious fumbling of my 3 year old. I ordered this and Animals of the World, both Mudpuppy brand. In my opinion, the best puzzle purchase since the Melissa and Doug Wooden Tray puzzles for infants/toddlers. Highly recommend - great image, great quality, and very durable. 5Amazing puzzle, just wish it was made to last, but it can with enough super glueMy three year old son LOVES this puzzle. He put it together more than ten times in the first couple days, by the third day, many of the edges were frayed quite a bit as the layers of cardboard were separating and the picture was peeling off. While it is much thicker than cheaper puzzles, they didn't seem to do anything to make it wear better by sealing the edges or anything. He loves it so much I fixed it by getting some super glue and literally gluing around the edges of every single piece with plenty of glue. It has been assembled at least another fifty times since then and is still holding up as a result. But I don't think it would have lasted more than a couple weeks without doing that. 3The best jumbo puzzles for younger kids (I bought a few)So glad I found mudpuppy puzzles. I've heard so much about Melissa and Doug but I love these even more. The jumbo puzzles are perfect for toddlers that are showing interest in puzzles. My 3 year old and 4.5 year old love these. They are more challenging than the 12 piece (once the mastered those once it was too easy) and find it challenging and fun each time. If you have a beginner is recommend their 12 piece puzzle first. My boys love that this puzzle has large pieces that fit together nicely. 5Sturdy, big puzzle. Perfect for my 3 year oldMy 3 year old son loves this puzzle! The puzzle pieces are big and made out of a thick cardboard material. The pictures are glossy and crisp. We were able to pull out all the puzzle pieces and put it together on our dinning room table with no problem. My son is able to do this puzzle all by himself and he has asked to do the puzzle almost every day since we got it. My son loves that this puzzle has 2 of his favorite things: construction and dogs.The box it came in looked like the first (top) picture. It has a big picture of what the finished puzzle is supposed to look like on the front and a smaller picture on the back. It also comes with a string you can use to carry it around.I wanted to give this 5 stars, but ended up docking a star due to the picture on the front of the box. We are trying to teach our son to use the picture on the box to identify the puzzle pieces. However, the front of the box has text boxes that cover the picture, so it makes it hard for him to figure out what piece matches where on the picture if it's a part that is covered on the top right or bottom middle portion. We ended up using the tiny little picture on the back of the box instead.But other than that, it keeps my son interested! 4Fun for toddlersI bought this puzzle for my 2.5 year old. He loves the design and putting the puzzle together. He will complete the puzzle several times in a day and is a great calm down activity for him. The one complaint I have is we've only had the puzzle 2 weeks and some of the design is peeling off on the corners. For a puzzle targeted for 2-5 year olds I expected a little more durability as toddlers don't always play the easiest.As some of the other reviewers I find the photos of the puzzle on the box annoying. The logos cover up portions of the design on the larger front photo. The back photo doesn't have this problem, but is really tiny and using that photo is a bit harder to teach toddlers with. 4it's quite annoying to have the company logo and product description blocking ...We bought this Mudpuppy puzzle for our daughter, who's had several other brands of puzzles because we wanted to try something different. As some others have pointed out, it's quite annoying to have the company logo and product description blocking parts of the large puzzle picture on the front of the box. Although the other side of the box contains the same picture, the size is much smaller, making it difficult for a toddler to be able to look at the details to complete the puzzle. In addition, the string to hold the box makes it hard to put the pieces back in. So, overall a poor design when it comes to the box itself, which may not seem like a big deal but when a toddler is trying to either put the puzzle together or the pieces back into the box by herself, details such as these do matter. I am also unhappy with the quality of the product. You can already see some of the pictures starting to peel off only after a few uses. Our daughter is fairly gentle with the pieces and we haven't had any issue with any of the other puzzles. That being said, she likes the puzzle and has learned some more about the different construction vehicles from playing this puzzle. 3Great puzzleGreat puzzle for younger kids. My 3 & 4.5 yr old love that the puzzle is large amd put together on the floor. They can also be used on a table, the size is great. The pieces are easy to handle. The kids mastered the 12 piece puzzles very easily so we decided to give these a try. They can now complete the puzzle and still find it fun after multiple times. I personally like these puzzles better than Melissa and Doug (which are also great). If highly recommend these to anyone. 5Quality ProductOur 2 year old was gifted a jumbo puzzle for his birthday and he loved it so much that we decided to order him another one. This was a great choice! The forest animals are extremely interesting for young children to look and talk about, making this a great puzzle for even children who have trouble with verbal interaction. The colors are vibrant and are great at keeping a child s attention. The puzzle is thick and well made, making it easy to place the pieces together. The box is sturdy, which is perfect for continued storage, and comes has the great addition of a robe for carrying. Would definitely recommend! 5
