Customer Reviews

A Fallout Shelter Full of LaughsVery fun game, love the humor behind the cards. Don't get the second expansion though unless a die hard fan. It's a very small booster pack, like a small pack of football cards/Magic the gathering/ect. Not worth the $15, even if the pictures are much more detailed, which they are. Try to get it cheaper elseware if you can for no more than $10. Also mixing these cards with the Cthulhu cards is pretty entertaining. 5For the Wasteland Munchkin in you! This rendition of Munchkin introduces a new way to lose - the Apocalypse! This version plays out faster than any other version I've played, as the game actively changes when the Seals start to open. If you've veered away from Munchkin because of how incredibly long the game can take, but you miss playing, Apocalypse is the right way to go! 4An A+ version of munchkinI have munchkin cthulhu, fu, Bites, Zombies, and Impossible, and I have to say I really like this version a lot. The cards are very interesting and I think that it brings something new to the table with the seals. Playing all the different versions of munchkin some of the versions such as munchkin bites can get a little less interesting especially if there isn't a group of people playing. However this one stayed interesting and I feel it's one of the better versions. As always I think it helps to have a group there to play, and if at all possible be in a really goofy mood and you'll love it. I would recommend this to friends and family. Also I really like the new box dividers, it can get a little irritating to have to sort the cards before you play especially with the original munchkin and all it's various expansions. :D 5Great, but to fast.I love Munchkin, so when I got this set I was very happy, but I quickly found this set moves to quickly. This set adds in a new deck of cards called "seals" (witch of course have seals on the back of them). The seals do all sorts of neat and nasty things, including adding a level to the monster level per seals open, as well as having lingering effects even after there played. The problem we found is that even after many games, we have only once ever gotten more then 1 seals open at a time. The game simply moves to quickly (unlike the other versions I have played). I find it odd tho because there's a handful of cards that are only useful if you can open 7 (opening 7 ends the game, much like if every one becomes a cultist in the cthulu version).A neat addition as well is the disaster cards, that work exactly like curse cards from the original set. Tho there is a very pain in the neck card of "Disaster proof tent" that may soon be removed from our set just because its so overpowered. The cards all have the apoc logo on the back of them, so if you mix them you can easily see witch ones are form the apoc set sadly. The cards them self's are classic munchkin humor tho much to my enjoyment.Overall, if you already love munchkin, you will enjoy this set very much and its wacky new rules. 4Good game - typical Munchkin style... but doesn't really mix well with other gamesSo I have read about how combining multiple munchkin sets can make the overall game more enjoyable. So I purchased this along with a card add on set (Cheat with Both Hands). When I opened the small expansion - the cards looked identical to the original, and I quickly combined them. However when I opened the Apocalypse.... the cards (both sides) look completely different. I really can't mix the sets together, and instead had two piles, and allowed our group of players to choose either pike they wanted. All the cards played well together, I was just hoping that I could mix them all together, and have one massive pile. Oh Well.. Four stars for that reason - otherwise great game, even if you played standalone, or mixed.... 4Their are also a lot of good items in this oneThe addition of the seal rule makes this game way different than the other munchkins. In the three times I've played a player has yet to win by lvls. there are a lot of high bonuses, but you need them to beat the monsters that gain a plus 1 for every seal and play and also gain strength through the seals continuing affects. Most of the monsters also do not have the will not pursue you clause if you are at a lower lvl. Their are also a lot of good items in this one, and the addition of vehicles which are nice. This game also does only have classes, so no races, factions, accents to help you out. The sheep impact exp is also a great addition. All in all this is an exciting unique yet still the same fun munchkin gameplay. games also can go faster than the original. I own the original, pathfinder, and apocalypse, and it would be difficult for me to decide on which one I like more. Although these three are more fun to me than the star and booty box sets. 5Great expansion to the originalBox content has a total of 180 cards:92 Door cards (Class cards Blogger, Kid, Militia & Scientist - There are no race cards in this expansion)76 Treasure cards12 Seal cardsOn the side of the box it says Ages 10+, 3-6 people (I'm sure you could have more if you combine more expansions) & it takes approximately 1-2 hours to play.Make sure you have something to keep track of your level (we use 10 sided dice)This is a great addition to the original, it can be played either stand-alone or as an expansion - Myself, wife and two kids all enjoy this game with it's humor although, some cards are somewhat crude, an example of such: an enemy called Lady Tata (has large rockets as a bra), also have cards showing blood and mild swearing. Using that information you can judge for yourself if you have children and want them to play or not.If you've played other Munchkin games this one has Disasters which are the same as Curse! cards in the original. Also there are Seal cards which are a new twist added to help fortify the appending doom of the apocalypse, they each have an effect when opened but if you have 7 open at once the game ends.Like I said, my family enjoys this and it helps expand on the original so we don't feel like we're getting the same cards all the time. 5Awesome Munchkin setI like that it's more than just a theme-change. All Munchkin sets are a lot of fun but what I really like about this one is the addition of "seals of the apocalypse." There's a new small deck of cards that adds a little environment to follow (like dungeon expansions for Munchkin, Munchkin Cthulhu, and Munchkin Zombies). The catch is that when there are 7 seals open, the game ends and the most powerful munchkin (not highest level) wins the game. The down side of this rule is you may have someone playing that is purposely opening as many seals as possible because he has a ton of items in use. ...but that is very munchkinly and kind of the object of the game. Overall, it's a lot of fun and one of my favorite Munchkin sets. Also, I have the Mars Attacks booster that adds 2 more seals and 13 other cards. I suggest getting that too. 5Mixed with Zombie PackWhat's better than an apocalypse? A zombie apocalypse!! The apocalypse box is heart as a stand alone game. The seal cards adds fun and creativity to your stratagy. Unfortunately the seals can beark too often or rarely appear. Making the game sometimes a little frustrating. We mix in the zombie pack and use the dice rolls for opening seals and found that to be a perfect mix for us. Hope you enjoyed both games mixed or individually as well! 5Love it but has a major lack of available expansion packsLove it, be sure to get the sheep impact expansion.Update:After 2 years this is still my favorite game. The only issue is with one main expansion and a couple very small expansion packs, Steve Jackson games is ignoring this version of munchkin. This version is in major need of another large expansion pack. I know my cards like the back of my hand and I would like something fresh to add. The original version of munchkin has an insane amount of expansions. Why is apocalypse so neglected? 5
