Customer Reviews

These sets are fun to buildThese sets are fun to build, with just the right level of concentration needed. I was able to do this one in under an hour while watching some television; it was pretty relaxing. Yes, they are surprisingly small, but I see that as a pro because I can display several of them on my bookshelf--which is already pretty full--without taking up too much space. As some others have mentioned, Nanoblock buildings aren't the sturdiest structures in some areas. The blocks don't really "lock" into place the same way LEGO bricks do, so little details (in this case, the trees and the front gate) can very easily be pushed askew by a finger while handling the set. Again, they're fun to build, just don't expect LEGO quality. Also I'd like to note that I probably wouldn't have bought this or any similarly sized Nanoblock set if they hadn't been on sale. $20+ is, in my opinion, too much for the small amount of plastic you're getting. I'm okay with spending $10-$15 on them, but anything more than that is a little crazy. 4Excellent Lego alternativeAt first, I was a bit skeptical on the Nanoblock thing. I'm a Lego fanatic, so I always dismissed any non-Lego building block. Something about the micro-scale style of Nanoblocks, though, caught me. After buying a few sets, I can say I'm hooked!Pros- Quality is much higher than expected (not quite Lego quality, but I feel they surpass Mega Blocks)- Builds are creative and very "outside the box" given the nature of the pieces- Display quality is amazing. They make superb desk or office toysCons- Small pieces may really bother some people (I have a pair of tweezers by my side just in case!)- The nature of the connections make getting things like trees or off-angled walls a bit of a challenge. I love it, some may not- Dear lord, if you drop a piece on the carpet, you're going to be punching yourself in the neck forever trying to find it. Be careful!I can definitely recommend this product to ANY fan of building toys. I really hope Nanoblocks are here to stay! 5A few hours diversionIt entertained me for several hours but I was short two tree "limbs." No biggie, but I had lots of extras for the others pieces, so it annoyed me. This was less impressive in real life than in the picture, but it looks good from a distance. Easy to follow picture instructions. 4Great little family buildWhen I saw this I knew I had to get it for my husband! He always wanted to visit the Colosseum and when we finally went he was like a little kid. It was a great experience for our whole family. I knew this set would bring back memories of the trip and I was right. When he was putting it together with the kids, we shared our best and worst memories and it was a fun night. He loved building the set with the kids. 5This is a great set! This is a great piece to put together. I have several of the nanoblocks-love them all. The only thing that was a little difficult was a couple of single rows of round blocks on each side. They were a little flimsy until you got the roof on and it connected them to the rest of the structure and they were a lot more secure. Took about 3-4 hours to put together. Would not recommend these for small children. A lot of fun for us big kids! These are smaller than the deluxe sets, but the deluxe are way pricey. Really enjoyed putting this one together. Great way to zone out for a bit. 5Poor design, really disappointing, picture is very deceiving.Really disappointed in this one. I was so excited when I first saw it. Putting it together however was terrible. Easy enough to put together but the quality of the build itself is terrible compared to older models that include pyramids Kawada has manufactured. Instead of building the pyramid up with blocks, you create 4 sheets and they lean against each other to the form the pyramid. They don't interlock so you have huge gaps in between each sheet. Not noticeable from a far distance but very noticeable even at arm's length. What's worse, is they suggest using a color changing block underneath and so we tried that out (we have 3) and the color makes the gaps in between the sides of the pyramid even more noticeable. If I had known the pyramid was not an actual pyramid but 4 sheets together with the sides not touching and noticeable I never would have purchased this. 2Like legos... but betterI own about 10 different nanoblock sets and I love each one of them. They might be small/tiny but they look really good and look exactly like the real thing. You should only buy this if you have a good amount of patience and good eyesight as the little blocks can be a pain to find if you drop one of the floor. It takes me about 1-2 hours to completely build a nanoblock set (it could take you more or less time based on your eyesight and how small your fingers are). This is easily my favorite set because of the level of detail in it and I would highly recommend buying it for either yourself or as a gift. 5Great fun for adult LEGO fansI just received this castle and it's my first Nanoblock set. I'm completely addicted to Nanoblocks and I want to get every one of the architecture sets now. I have been a fan of LEGOs my whole life and enjoy playing with my son and his sets. But for me, the best part is always the assembly. I had such a great time putting this together and it looks fantastic..The pieces were well sorted and bagged in logical groupings which made assembly easy. The directions were clear and easy to follow. I did find a tweezer to be a necessity. These are difficult to take apart and aren't as easy to play with as LEGOs. But I want to keep the display, so that is fine for me. Children might be disappointed by that if they have an expectation that this is a flexible building set. I would recommend this for older kids who have the patience and concentration for it. The manufacturer recommends 8 and up, but that may still be too young for some kids 5I have found a great new hobby! This was my first nanoblock project. It was amazing. I loved the size of the blocks. Quite a challenge to pick up. The directions are not complicated, you just have to make sure that you match up your colors correctly with the directions or you may have to go back and redo some of the pieces. I would recommend purchasing the nanoblock tweezers with this item. They will save you a lot of aggravation. They are notched on the end to help pick up and hold the blocks. It took a couple of hours to put together, but it really turned out nice looking. It's amazing when you get through to see how really great they look in such a small space. I would not recommend these for small children at all (for obvious reasons). I have purchased several pieces to work on next. I didn't want to wait for them to ship from Japan (30+) days, so I made sure that the ones that I purchased were fulfilled by Amazon. Got them a lot quicker. That's just a hint if you hate waiting on stuff. These are awesome to work on. And they do give you extra pieces that you can save for later to work on other projects or if you want to add stuff to the current one.I am always looking for new stuff to try and I really liked these because they were small and would not take up a lot of room. I am a zombie enthusiast and have several other projects that take up a good bit of room. This was the perfect size. Can't wait to get started on the next one. 5Beautiful little castle to display on my shelf!I recently discovered nanoblocks and purchased a small set at a local bookstore. I had a great time putting it together so was anxious to get online and see what other sets I could find. I was so pleased to find this set at a considerably lower price than it was in store! This is a fun set to put together, and I love the finished product. For those who have never tried nanoblocks be advised they are TINY. I would not recommend it if you have young children in the house or are apt to get frustrated easily. They are delicate, so it is easy to use a little too much pressure and knock down a wall you have been working on, but I enjoyed the challenge of it. I displayed the finished product on a shelf with the other set I completed, and I'm planning to fill the shelf with a few more sets as I complete and get more! 5
