Would be perfect if it lasted!This was a really cool product and my little boy loved it when he got it for Christmas. Unfortunately it only lasted a few days until it stopped sucking up bugs and no longer worked. The light will still come on and it seems to be trying to work but it doesn't. I've even replaced the batteries but it still doesn't work . Totally bummed out since the construction of it is actually pretty smart with a magnifying glass that flips over to let bugs in and out and let you get an up close view of the bug inside. 1it works fine to suck up hitchhikers in our RVNot sure what some people are expecting with this thing. It's a toy. It's meant to be a toy. It's not a DustBuster... Anyway, it works fine to suck up hitchhikers in our RV. Works best on larger insects like beetles and moths. Harder to grab ants and "no-see-ems". Replaced the original batteries and it worked better. Worth the money in my opinion. 4It Does Suck Up BugsThe motor suction power seemed to be a little more powerful than the backyard safari brand of bug vacuum. I purchased the bug vacuum to fight an invasion of Japanese beetles. For being a kids toy, it is successful about 70% of the time for capturing the beetles off my plants. It hasn't worked well for flies. I imagine that it would work for a spider.As for kids toy entertainment, my son thinks it is fun to use. If you are concerned about the well being of a bug or insect, injury could happen to the bug or insect. A few beetles lost legs. 4Doesn't Suck enoughThe concept of this is perfect, when coupled with the compatible bug zoo, you can suck and then capture bugs with no chance of mistake.The problem is, the sucking power is barely enough for a tiny moth. I tried a common housefly and with or without the nozzle, an inch or two (or closer) away wasn't enough to capture them.I'm about to re-wire the thing for more power and see if that helps.Don't expect this to suck, it sucks! 1Greatest bug catcher everGreatest bug catcher ever. Vaccums up bugs without hurting them. Easily comes apart so that you can view the bug through the middle portion of the gun where the bug is captured. Magnifiying glass on the middle section to view the bugs is creative and useful. My daughter spent an hour running around the house looking for bugs, inside and outside. She had a great time in the evening, catching all the tiny bugs flocking to the light on our porch! 5Suction stopped in 5 minutes. Faulty design.The Bug Catcher looked like the picture and if the suction had worked, it would have been good. Our 5 year old suctioned up an ant and then the fan that caused the suction just stopped. After putting in new batteries, it worked a few minutes and stopped again. The light worked fine. I could make the fan start up by hitting the fan area against my palm a few times only to have it quit about 15-30 seconds later. The plastic fan s center pin was a bit short and didn t stay connected to the little motor. A design fault. Despite the fan s malfunction, the 5 yr old wanted to keep the toy and did capture a few spiders to look at. I suspect the toy will eventually be used as a space gun to capture aliens from space. It wasn t worth the $25 paid to other seller when unavailable from Amazon. I should have paid closer attention to the 1 star reviews. 1Broke in 5 min.Got for my son's birthday, opened it up played with it for 5 min. And now the vacuum does not work but light turns on still and makes noise. Very disappointing, would give no stars if possible 1POOR BUILD QUALITY. BROKE IN 2 DAYSThe magnifiyng glass that spins inside broke litterally the first time I spun it. My son really wanted it so I decided to keep it. Second day he had it, it stopped working. I had to open it using a screwdriver and found the switch on the trigger bent back. It was pretty delicate so I tried my best to unbend it but it was already cracked. The trigger felt funny since the beginning. It rained both days so my son didnt even get to use in on insects. Smh. Poor build quality for something young kids will be using outdoors. Either we received a bad unit or its POOR BUILD QUALITY. Check out Ebay instead. 1Takes the YUCK out of catching bugs in your homeI am terrified of bugs, I'm the person that screams when they see a beetle and I am always hoping someone is nearby so I can bribe them to kill that bug! That all changed when I found this great little bug catcher. First of all the design is fun and it makes you feel like a kid again just holding it. I have caught and released a few bugs with this, its more humane that killing them. If you want to kill them because your afraid it may come back than you simply vacuum the bug and than release it in the toilet and FLUSH. If your a bug hater like myself this is the tool you have been dreaming about! Simple to use and very effective. 5DEAD ON ARRIVALNEVER GOT IT TO WORK ONCE OUT OF THE BOX, LIGHT WORKS, BIG DEAL, OF ALL THE SUCTION TOYS I COULD HAVE SELECTED, I GET THE DUD. I GOT IT FOR ME, AN OLD DISABLED MAN, WHO IS BEING PESTERED BY THESE LITTLE KNATS THAT HOVER AROUND MY NIGHT LIGHT, JUST WANTED TO GET THE LITTLE BUGGERS, BUT THE TOY WAS TOO CHEAP, FROM CHINA. REMEMBER WHEN MDE IN JAPAN WAS A NO-NO, NOW IT'S MADE IN CHINA JUNK. I REPLACED THE CHINESE BATTERIES AS THEY TEND TO LEAK AND RUIN CONTACTS AND APPLIANCES, BUT NO GOOD IS STILL NO GOOD. WILL NOT WASTE MY TIME AND ENERGY OR GAS TO RETURN THIS JUNK. BUT TRY A DIFFERENT VENDOR. 1
