Customer Reviews

Good for beginnersThe gun right out of the box performs well enough for a safety-oriented plastic dart blaster, but in the end 30 feet is mediocre. It really begins to shine when you open it up and fiddle with its guts, and you can tell they wanted to make it easy. No glue in sight, and all the components are relatively easy to reach. If you remove the air restrictors, plug that annoying hole near he base of the barrel, and replace/add to the main firing spring, your range will increase threefold. My one complaint is that one of the screw nubs holding the plunger in was too wide for its little cap, and it split when I unscrewed it. A little glue fixed that, though. 4My new LongshotJust got this gun! Have been trying to win a used one, but was tired of being out bid at the last second so I invested my money in a brand new one! Just opening the gun gave me joy! I own several Nerf guns now, this one is one of my favorites! Not sure I will use it since it was expensive, but just being able to look at it or hold it will be good enough for me! It will sit next to my Longstrike (White Out Series) on the shelf! I wish Nerf would make the mission kits again! I got into Nerf just this year so I missed out on all the good mission kits! Wish I had the pinpoint sight! Too bad people are trying to make a buck by selling them at high prices! I wish they would realize that other people would love to own one, but do not have the money to dish out especially with today's economy! I am not sure I will get into modifying my guns, but I have already painted one red dot sight white to match my Longstrike. It turned out pretty nice. This gun cost me too much to try and paint and if I messed up, it would be a costly mistake so like I said before, I will treasure this Nerf gun! I love collecting Nerf now! I was also surprised at how fast I received this item! Thanks to this company for not over pricing too much over the original list price and shipping it fast! I got it in just two days after ordering! If you have the money, I would recommend buying it now! I have a feeling the price is only going to get more expensive especially now since it is getting close to the holidays! It really is a nice looking gun! Well worth it! 5Cool but not a sniper rifleThe Longshot has a reputation for being one of the best Nerf guns there is. This may be true from a modding standpoint, but to be honest it is over-hyped. Granted, it is a good gun. The scope is adorable, if useless (because darts fall so rapidly, you have to aim far enough above your target that you won't be able to see them through the scope at all), but if you really need a scope to hit something with a Nerf gun you are doing it wrong. The stock is nice and adjustable, but is not removable like the Recon/Raider/Spectre stocks. It stores a clip, and because of the design I think it may be able to store any of the clips. The range of the gun is equal to other clip-system guns, and not as good as revolvers like the Maverick (so it is a sniper rifle only in appearance). I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is actually really accurate, possibly the most accurate Nerf gun (so maybe it would be a viable sniper if modded). It is bolt-action manual so don't expect a high rate of fire at all. The front is a detachable barrel extension with an extra one-shot, pump-action gun, presumably to cover you while you reload the main unit. As with all barrel extensions it actually hurts the range a bit. While I like this gun, it has some flaws in terms of construction. The bipod is rather hard to fold out, and when deployed you can't put on/take off the barrel attachment. The barrel attachment itself is a problem. Oddly, you have install the trigger by shoving it into a slot. I think this was supposed to be an easy step, but it took me about half an hour to do--it kept falling off or not fitting. The stock is also positioned so that if you store the gun upright with the bipod out, it will put all the weight on any clip you put in the stock, which is at least awkward.Overall, it is a cool gun, but if you are buying your first clip-system gun you should get the Recon or Alpha-Trooper instead. 4Longshot CS-6 ReviewDefinitely one of the most durable and best mechanical system of all the nerf gun's when it come's to range and power - especially if you mod for a hobby. Although I'm a bit miffed at the price - considering that I saw prices as low as 35 dollars at some store (then again, you don't know how may distributors those products went through).Overall, this was definitely the best nerf gun I've purchased in comparison to the newer models. What I liked:-Range-Power-Bolt action (easier to lock compared to other nerf guns - without modding them)-Weight: feels a bit more realisticDisliked:-Accuracy once you add the extension-The adjustable stock (can only adjust to 2 settings)-the grip when you put down the legs for the tripod-the durability of the streamlined darts - they wear out pretty fast 4Great gun, but the CS-35 with round clip is betterWe bought several Nerf guns, and just had our first family war in the back yard. This gun is reliable, and has a cool prop if you want to ground shoot. It looks awesome, but can be a little heavy for small kids. It shoots a few darts, but the CS-35 with circular clip is the best gun as it shoots farther, holds more, and allows for more play time. 4It jams a lot but as I read reviews, ...It jams a lot but as I read reviews, I see that is an issue for all Longshots, so not a problem with this specific unit. However, I read up on how to fix darts so they don't jam and hopefully that will help! My son loves this gun and it does shoot a very long distance. 4Lame, jams, and disappointingMy son HATED this gun, and we have nearly every one. The longshot is so disappointing. Jams constantly, slow mechanism, heavy for the weak shots u get. Inconsistent shots. The pathetic front gun handle snaps off all the time, who designed this crap? We ended up keeping the stampede instead. I think that all the glowing reviews here are probably fake. I read them and based my decision on those. If you get this gun, you too will be adding your poor review. The longshot has less power than the stampede, the hyperfire, even the nite finder has more power and distance. It's not so much the weak fire, it's the variable firing and accuracy. We ended up ripping off that stupid front gun, taking off the barrel, which just retards any power, taking off the stand ( too heavy), and trimming off all excess plastic crap that this gun has. Now a decent gun that jams only now 60% of the time. Avoid this dog of a nerf. 2Excellent sellergood product 5whatta-gunThe shipping time was a lot less then what Amazon estimated I'm pleased with that. The primary gun itself was easy to assemble and rather nice to look at. It's a bit awkward to hold but thats not a big issue. The feel of it is a bit less then expected since there was a loose screw in the one I received but that was easily fixed. It also feels a bit thin in some area's. The secondary gun (the pistol) was harder to assemble since the handle was hard to insert. The range of it is rather poor (shoots lighter than the Secret Strike AS-1). As many people have said, the scope is nothing but plastic on the inside, so its good for nothing but show without mod's. The primary gun itself fires rather loudly but that was to be expected (My Longstrike fired really loud too).Overall, I'd recommend it to any nerf fans (over age 10). The only thing is, be careful of the price since I got mine at a lower one then any of the currently listed prices (12/26/2010) and its not available at all in stores anymore. 5Best..thing..EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Got it opened it and modded the gun getting awesome results even out of the box it is great.A good thing to do is to salvage any parts you can from the front gun because it is pathetic and wrong to call it a side arm.Use the spring and barrel from the front gun and store them away for future use. This is a great gun and is used by beginners and pros alike. This is the most bang for your buck.now the long srikes counter part the long STRIKE has one major flaw it's firing system is that of a recon it uses a plunger system the perfect example of the watering down of these guns. The long shot is a great gun to mod given the fact that no parts are glued down in the main gun and the firing mechanism allows you to add more springs.Probabaly the best additional spring is the BBB the Big Bad Bow spring gives it great range at no cost damage wise to the gun. Thanks for reading and if I were you I would keep one Long shot in the box just in caseGotyournose out 5
