Cute Co-op Game! The Fairy Game by Peaceable Kingdom is a cute game! My 3.5 year old really enjoys playing this game. The first day we opened it we played it 6 times in a row and she asks to play it everyday. I don't get sick of it either, which is great for me! my 7 year old son wasn't too excited to play "The fairy Game" at first, but at the end of the game he said, "That was really fun, mom!" Needless to say it is a favorite! The object of this cooperative game is to collect all 4 colored jewels before Mr. Winter freezes the flowers. If Mr. Freeze gets 4 snowflakes on any 1 flower he wins. If you, as a group, can collect all 4 jewels before a flower is frozen then you win! Co-op games have been a really big hit in our family. It's great to play with each other instead of against each other for a change. It has taught them teamwork. For ages 5+ (But my 3.5 year old picked it up just fine. She needed a little more help the first few rounds, but does great now.)2-4 Players15 minutesGame includes:Game board - A nice, sturdy board with cute artwork13 Snowflake tokens - sturdy tokens with a cute snowflake57 Fairy garden cards - 35 fairy, 3 unicorns, 4 wands & 15 mr. winter. Thick card with cute artwork on both sides.4 Jewel tokens44 Snowstorm cards1 Box - Very cute artwork and sturdy. The instructions are built in on the lid of the box. It's very convenient!Overall this is a fun game. Peaceable Kingdoms makes their games with kids in mind. The quality of all their games prove that. I would recommend this game to my family and friends for their 3-8 year olds! 5Fun game - Teaches working together.I have a 5 year old granddaughter and we play a lot of games. (sometimes Grandma just has to sit after running around so much) This game is a unique idea. Sometimes children are so competitive and it creates a problem if they lose. In this game players work together - no winner or loser. I think it's great to teach cooperation instead of competition. The colors are vibrant and well, FAIRIES! My granddaughter loves it and the directions are simple. 5Amazing game for fairy loversThis was a gift for my almost 4 year old daughter. She loves fairies and loves this game. We play this game daily, multiple times. The first time we played she thought I want to win. It was great for her to learn that we all win together. She even loves to play by herself and pretend I'm playing too. This was a definite win in our house and so glad I bought this for her. Hurray for this game! 5Peace at LastI love that we either ALL win or ALL lose. Perfect for my 5 and 6 year olds. No more anger, jealousy or claim to colors or figures! It actually took my more competitive kid a while to realize that she didn t get to pick a flower or a fairy.... Instructions are part of the box, so you won t ever lose them. ;) Nice artwork, quality and good investment for happier family activity. 5Our favorite Peaceable Kingdom Game!My 4 and 6 year old love this game and we have literally played it for hours... which means I, as an adult, can STAND playing it for that long ;) We have some other Peaceable Kingdom games (which are all great), and this is by far our favorite. Multiple opportunities for cooperative teamwork throughout the game (eg. unicorn cards, strategy for saving gems, etc.) and each round players have different opportunities to work towards the common goal based on the cards they draw. Players experience the challenges and potential for losing to Old Man Winter, but with 3 of us typically playing, we tend to come out of it with our teamwork pulling out the win. Great game overall, and I can see us playing this for years to come. Highly recommend. 5This is one of our favorite games to playThis is one of our favorite games to play. The object of the game is to collect all the jewels from the flowers and place them in the wand in the center of the board before any of the flowers freeze. You shuffle the cards and each player takes one card at a time from the stack, so each player has their own hand of cards, up to a limit of 5 cards at a time per player (if you already have 5 cards, you have to choose one you already have to discard before picking another card). You collect a jewel by getting 3 fairies of the same color flower and jewel. Unicorn cards allow you to give one of your cards to another player (so if one player has 2 pink fairies and another player has one pink fairy and a unicorn, that person can use their unicorn to give the pink card the the other player so they now have 3 pinks and can collect the pink jewel). Wand cards allow you to remove one snowflake of your choice at any time. Mister Winter cards require you to draw a card from the colored snowflake stack and place a snowflake on the corresponding colored flower. When any flower has 4 snowflakes, the flower is frozen and the game is over. I like this game because, since each player has their own hand of cards, it's a cooperative game in which you are doing more than just taking turns doing the exact same thing as the other players, if that makes sense. Usually we just have 2 players, but we've played with 3 and I've noticed it is more difficult and requires a little more strategy since the cards are spread to more players (like instead of one person getting 2 pinks and the other getting 1 pink and a unicorn, with 3 players, each might have a pink, making it harder to trade and consolidate). I'd imagine 4 players would be even more difficult. But it's still a great game and one of our favorites. 5Too complicatedThis game is cute but it is way too complicated for the targeted age range. I work with families and have used the game to encourage family play time and without fail no one understands the rules. Even I get confused attempting to explain the rules to the family. I watched the explanation video on YouTube and didn't find it helpful at all. A young child's game should not need an explanation video!!! There is no reason this game is so complicated. Keep it simple. Now when kids want to play with it I allow them to make up their own rules. Save your money folks. 1A little to complicated for young kidsI first got the B004HVKAAI Hoot Owl Hoot game here on amazon, and really loved it (although I did buy different game pieces and used a spinner app rather than the cards.) I really liked that it put the players on a team versus the game itself rather than versus each other. I work with kids, some of whom are on the autism spectrum and some of them simply do not handle losing very well. I do try to incorporate some little disappointments (such as losing a game) into their therapy as it is indeed a skill they need to acquire, but they don't need to do that every day. I have had kids up to 4th grade love that game.Anyway, since that was such a hit, I went back and got this. I thought it would be another great game where the kids didn't compete with each other. Well, this one isn't really as simple and cute as that Owl one. You have to get all 4 jewels before Mr. Winter freezes the flowers. If Mr. Freeze gets 4 snowflakes on any 1 flower he wins. If the team can get the jewels before that, the team wins. There are all kinds of different cards with fairies and snowflakes and unicorns and jewels and it just isn't simple. As an adult, I couldn't just look at the pieces and figure it out...I had to read the rules (twice.) I like when the games are more intuitive for kids. Also, I don't really like paper pieces. I appreciate that paper is the most eco-friendly, but for my use (with many kids sharing the game,) the pieces get ripped, bent, dirty, etc. really quickly. I will have to create my own rules for this...sigh. I might buy little acrylic gems and plastic snowflakes (though they are a choking hazard if you have young or "mouthy" kids, I don't) and change the cards to some sort of spinner app. Even I would rather put a shiny little snowflake or gem on a board than a cardboard drawing of them! :) I probably could have done that without buying this at all, but I didn't know that until I got it. Plus the game board is cute and I don't mind patronizing a brand where they created the idea.I won't get rid of this as I like the winter theme and the cooperative nature of it, but feel (at least for my use) it needs a lot of modifications to make it more simple and visually motivating. 4I love these Peaceable Kingdom gamesI love these Peaceable Kingdom games. It teaches your child to work together and you don't have to worry about winners and losers! This is a very cute game and lots of fun. The game is very exciting also..... My 4 year old is always worried about Mr. Winter freezing the flowers! I highly recommend. 5For family game night we play this one a bunch of times! I'd go as far as to say I love it.I bought this for my kids, a boy aged 4.5 and two twin girls just turning 7. They're kind of in that stage where they get upset when they lose. This game encourages everyone working together toward a goal. The instructions are a little convoluted but once you play it a few times everyone catches on. The art is beautiful and the pieces are high quality. Between this one and the mermaid game by the same company, this one is their favorite. They love getting the fairies and especially the unicorns, which makes it a little difficult to give them up (object of the game), but that's more on my kids than the game. When we do lose we just kind of go "oops! Oh well. Want to try again?" and everyone excitedly agrees. No tears or fighting or grumpy walk-offs. For family game night we play this one a bunch of times! I'd go as far as to say I love it. I will be looking into the company's other games as this one was a huge hit and it brought us closer. Thank you for the great product.Tip: make sure you shuffle reeeally well. We learned the hard way that the discard pile usually has a lot less of the helpful cards than the problem cards, and it can cause you to lose in record time without even a chance. 5
