But would recommend for anyone who is needing s good gift for ...I got this toy as a Christmas gift for my new niece and she is obsessed! She stares at it when it lights up and loves to fall asleep with this one next to her. My sister raves about how it can calm her down when she s upset and nothing else can. It plays soothing music and lights up the room with little stars. So soothing. I want one! But would recommend for anyone who is needing s good gift for a new baby. My little nephew (the order brother) tries to take it all the time. He is 2 so this could be for all ages! 5Very cute but defectiveI like that this toy glows, plays music and is from my childhood memory. I purchased one from Wal-Mart and later found that the one I viewed on Amazon was shipped without me doing so. But comparing the two, the one that came from Amazon seller, is smaller, doesn't have any stuffing around the voice box. 2Refurbished, Not Original PackagingThis did not come in its original packaging and is scuffed and dirty. This is our second glow worm, the first one lasted 2 years but now the face light is starting to go out. Our daughter loves it so I ordered another, but our original was bought in store. The music on this one is different and is not as smooth or relaxing. Will be returning. 1Gloworm: The MiracleI ordered this Gloworm over a year ago for my daughter who has been the worst sleeper ever since the moment she was even conceived. At 19 months she still doesn't sleep through the night. However, this Gloworm has been my saving grace. She finally took to it as her "lovey" at a year old and I haven't had to go in at night to calm her down and get her back to sleep since then because her Gloworm does the trick. When she wakes up she turns it on and goes back to sleep. My only complaint is that the battery life isn't great, and there have been a couple times when I forgot to change the batteries in time, which led to a few meltdowns during the night when it died. I have been using rechargeable batteries since they do lose power so fast with the amount that she uses the Gloworm, and I swap them every 2-3 days to try to catch it before it dies.I then ordered a 2nd Gloworm to have as a backup, just in case anything ever happens to hers. When it arrived, it wasn't in it's original display box, and the insert that holds the batteries and button didn't line up properly, like the Gloworm wasn't sewn right and the location where you're supposed to push the button didn't match up to where the button actually was. It would turn on and off if you picked it up and put it down or shook it, but then it would just turn on and off the second you moved it again and never actually stayed on. It also randomly began playing a couple times when no one was even near it (spooky!). If you actually pressed on it anywhere it wouldn't do a thing, though. My husband and I both tried to reposition the insert to get it to work properly, but it just didn't line up no matter what. I think it was probably a refurbished one or a return from someone else. I ended up exchanging that Gloworm without any issues and the Gloworm I received as a replacement was in it's original display box and works fine. 4Do not waste your money :(Seriously........ I m peeved. I ordered the pink and the blue (because 2 kids and can t get one without getting one for the other).... the blue one (although not what I remember) - works fine, back closes, turns on and off.The pink one is a VERY different story. I ve thrown the packing away (because : 3 and once she saw it that was it)... but the velcro won t close, the button sticks, it stays on and doesn t shut off.......... I m really annoyed that I paid MORE for the pink piece of junk than the blue one (which, for the record, is crap anyways.).... and now I have a toy that is a royal pain in the butt.Do not get the pink one. Period. Don t. 1GLOWORM changed its music recording so BE CAREFUL when buying a replacementMy 1 year old grand daughter carries her GLOWoRM with her everyday .... so i decided to get a backup in case some unforeseen incident occured that would not let her be soothed by it. The GLOWORM that I recvd was not the same as hers. The music was not the same so therefore, she wont use it. 1Would NOT recommend. Poor quality music.I absolutely loved the glow worm I had purchased 2 years ago for my first child (pictured in Blue) so I purchased another for my next child (pictured in Pink). This is NOT the same glow worm. Though the shell might be identical- the MUSIC is completely disappointing. The original glow worm plays soft classical tunes that sound high quality and smooth to the ear-while the new glow worm plays a different mix of songs and sounds somewhat fuzzy like cheap techno- very low quality sound. This was an extremely disappointing buy. Why would Playschool ruin a good thing?! I Would not recommend this version of glow worm. 1Best baby purchase out there!My 17 month old has been sleeping with her Glow Worm since she was a few months old and is still fascinated by it. We can put her down and turn off the light and she just lays there and looks at Glow Worm and babbles until she falls asleep. My daughter who is now 10 had (has) 2 of these as a baby; one blue and the other pink and this is a sad version of it. I purchased it for a baby shower gift and I will have to send it back. 1. It looks odd; definitely not the same face or body of the 2007 version I purchased 2. It has a weird smell. 3. The music is not what I would consider lullabies; my 10 year old said its a mixture of wedding and funeral music 3. Why is it in this plastic bag? Where is the original packaging? I could never give a item to a first time parent a gift that was in a plastic bag. Overall, I'm sad to say I may have to purchase the Seahorse, but I will keep an eye out for the better quality Gloworm. 1Defective or a counterfeit item. Grrrr!Defective? Knock-off counterfeit product? The velcro closure on the back will absolutely NOT close. You can stretch, pull, sweet talk it, swear and it's not going to help. This was ordered as a new baby gift. So, now what? Reorder and chance a second defective item and make the gift untimely? Sew it shut so parents can't replace batteries easily? This is definitely not the quality of the Gloworm my children had.In addition, I inspected the box and compared the product to the picture. Not the same! The mouth, cheeks, ears, stuffing-less body - even the box - do not match the picture. If you're of certain generations you'll remember the jingle "Oh, boy! It's a Hasbro toy!" Well, not anymore. I think for the Gloworm "It's as Hasbeen toy :(" would be more appropriate. 1
