    Works GoodJust got interested in doing Rock Tumbling and so in searching for the supplies needed, I discovered these on Amazon. But I just gotstarted with the process, but I must say Step 1 & 2 worked really well and I have no doubt that the rest will work equally as well. 4Great Product!We started tumbling last year and purchased a tumbler from Harbor Freight. While we were there, we purchased a powder starter kit that they had on the shelves. We thoroughly read the instructions and at the end of the process, found some of our rock had scratches in them. All of the rock that were used were the same hardness. We checked for waste after the first and second steps, but still had scratches all over the rocks in the final step.We ordered this product primarily because it came with the poly plastic filler and could recycle the filler for later use on the same steps instead of finding our own smaller rock filler. Not only did the plastic filler make the rocks more smooth, we felt that the quality of the powder was much better that the sample box we bought at harbor freight! We will be sticking to this product from here on out. 5Plastic beads are a pain to deal with!Very disappointed!The plastic beads are a real pain to deal with. They hold the grit and must be washed and cleaned with every use. The size is smaller and more difficult to contain changing grit. The plastic hold s stattic charge and cling to your hands, to the tumbler, and the strainer.I have learned my lesson and will stick the ceramic beads.If I re-order Polly Plastics, I will use only the ceramic and not waste my money and time with the plastic! 1The media from Polly Plastics worked wonderfully for smoothing out some ordinary rocks he had foundMy son is a crazy little rock hound. We bought him a tumbler and he finally got to check it out. The media from Polly Plastics worked wonderfully for smoothing out some ordinary rocks he had found. We have some fancy stones wrapped under the tree. I am excited to see how they turn out with Polly Plastics after Christmas! We will be sure to order more as needed! 52 gripesThis is my 2nd time ordering this product and I have 2 gripes. First gripe - I did 4 batches of rocks, each taking a month or longer following the instructions that came with the grit. My rocks were not coming out even close to shiny so I kept making adjustments and trying again only to be disappointed again and again. Finally, I cross referenced the instructions that came with my tumbler to the ones that came with the grit. The last 2 steps my tumbler said to put in 3 times the amount of grit that the grit instructions came with. My last batch came out great! So I ordered again as I was almost out and kicked myself for not realizing that sooner. Hopefully now I know what I'm doing and will continue to have better results. 2nd gripe - my package arrived today but one of the bags had leaked all over everything inside the box. So I just spent the last 20 minutes cleaning everything up. Not worth the hassle of returning but definitely a mess! Hopefully I get good results going forward, chalk it up to rookie mistakes and a bad seal. If I keep having good results, I'll keep buying but may try a different brand next time with different packaging so its not such a mess. 3Great giftBought as a gift for my dad, he's recently been on a rock tumbling kick. He loves it! Will definitely buy again when he gets new rocks to polish. 5Final "polish" is more pre-polish than a polish Look for TXP powder insteadI agree with others, that the "step 4" will yield a satin finish and not a high gloss finish. I've since then found that TXP powder is what one needs to get a gloss finish, provided proper cleaning is taken between stepsand that was why another kit I ordered yielded a higher gloss finish.That said, this kit is still useful if you consider buying TXP powder to use as the final polishing step. 4Great for my 3lb tumblerCame with instructions in neatly packaged grits. They were enough for multi-uses. Perfect for my 3lb rock tumbler. 5New to TumblingI just received my first tumbler for Christmas 2018, my husband purchased extra grit from Poly Plastics to get me started. Then I purchased more as I have years of rock hounding I want polished. I'm a Jewelry Designer, so most of what I'm polishing will be used in my jewelry making, and as specimens. I have a lot to learn, but so far I've done 2 batches all the way through the 4 cycles, and am happy with most of the results. I do have some, that just are not polishing, even after cleaning and running through the polish cycle again. But, I'm positive it's because I am learning how long to run the cycles for different stones and hardness's. 5Don't pass this kit up!If you tumble rocks, this kit is wonderful! Nice thick bags for long term storage. Quality product. Rocks look fantastic after all the steps. I will definitely purchase again when I run out; which may be a while! Enough to easily tumble 40 loads or more in my small 4" 6" tumbler. Pellets can be reused... only thing that would make this spectacular... a note book; documentation for tumbles. Maybe even a book in regards to common identification rocks. 5
