Another enjoyable RavensburgerAnother enjoyable Ravensburger puzzle. Took MUCH longer than one of their 1k pc puzzles (longer than three of their 1k pc puzzles). I would rate the pieces interlocking as "very good" whereas on their 1k piece puzzles I would rate interlock at "excellent". As others have mentioned this puzzle takes up a lot of space. And the loose pieces take up LOTS and LOTS of space. We ended up putting pieces in cardboard box lids on a rolling cart as well as having them scattered on the table. Colors from the picture on the box to the actual puzzle varied considerably in some cases. Also, because it isn't a photo, the exact same color would crop up in different places. In a high res photo, you never have exactly the same color. Also, some of the fish looked like the same fish copy-pasted and resized and scattered all over. The scale of various fish/critters is a little wonky too. But overall it was a solid 3.75-4 star puzzle. Expect to spend many enjoyable hours with it. 4After reading all of the great reviews and product descriptionI'll start by saying this was my first time experiencing a Ravensburger puzzle. After reading all of the great reviews and product description, I couldn't wait to put this puzzle together. However, my excitement quickly went away once I started working the puzzle. The product description touts this so called Softclick-Technology, what a joke. By far, and its not even close, this puzzle had the loosest fitting pieces of any puzzle I have ever dealt with. It was a real pain to assemble and move any section of four or more pieces without everything falling apart. I remember the old Big Ben puzzles, you could assemble a twenty+ piece section and easily move it into place without the pieces coming apart, not so on this one. Also, on several occasions when working this puzzle, the loose fitting pieces lead to the wrong pieces being easily matched up. This was bad because it had me second guessing myself every time I thought I had the right two pieces together. Another irritating aspect to this puzzle was the size ratio versus the picture on the box. Ravensburger really needs to add a poster. The actual puzzle is about 6 times the size of the box and only adds to the frustration when trying to identify where a piece goes. The only thing nice I can say about this puzzle is the colors are vibrant and the overall look of the picture was nice once the puzzle was completed. Maybe I got a dud, I don't know, but I have another Ravensburger puzzle that I bought at the same time so we'll see. 2Thoroughly enjoyed this for the better part of the monthI thoroughly enjoyed doing this puzzle. It took me from June 18 to July 5 to finish and I worked quite a number of hours every day on it. Sorting the pieces by standard colors didn't give me a good start though, except for the yellow that did allow me to get somewhat of a start. When I redo this puzzle at a future time I'll sort by patterns rather than just color. I used 12 sorting boxes plus a stack of six small trays. Because of puzzles so large if you get stuck in one area you can move to another area come back to that later and keep on working. Hardest part was the dead center of the puzzle in Bluewater area . Definitely recommend 5Still working on this puzzleMy family is a fan of Ravenburger puzzle and when I found this 3000 pc puzzle, I had to get it.My family loves it, in fact we have been working on it for over three weeks, it's spreadout on our dining room table and we are slowly working through it.Raveburger again comes through with a great puzzle whose quality is out of this world! 5Beautiful puzzleThis puzzle is great. Note (It is huge) This 3000 piece puzzle is a giant 32"x48" and it was clearly noted in the description. I had to run out and purchase a piece of plywood for it so that we could move the puzzle around and not lose the dining room table for 2 weeks. The picture is great and the pieces are a good quality. I would recommend this brand to anyone that likes puzzles. I intend on looking into other puzzles from this company. Again for the puzzle person I highly recommend this puzzle. 5Very well made puzzle, but this one is a mite toughThere are lots of fine gradations of color on these pieces, making it a real challenge to even pick out, say, the sky-blue ones out of the 3000. In fact, I've spent like 20 hours and it's hardly started. But if you want a really tough, rewarding, attractive puzzle, look no further. Printing is excellent. Cuts are very clean and solid -- they claim that the pieces actually "snap" into position, but that's overstating things a bit. 5Not perfect, but quite good and fun.My first puzzle over 1,000 pieces and it was a mostly good experience. The wide variety of colors helped the difficulty; I believe I'd done a 1,000 piece that felt harder because of the lack of different colors.The matte finish helped with seeing them in the light. However, probably 10 pieces were bent right out of the box. One, which I posted a photo of, was basically bent in half. More than a week pressed under my desk lamp and it came out pretty well.It took me just over 3 weeks, though one week was the last of school before winter break (didn't touch it) and then one week was during winter break and I worked on it a lot.I think the puzzle glue made it glosser and as it has a shine now that it's hanging on a basement wall, but I had little issue with shine/glare while working on it.It's listed at 3,000 pieces and 48x32 inches. I found it to be 3,168 pieces and nearly a half inch short in each direction (47 9/16 by 31 9/16).UPDATED: Took nearly a year to notice, but interesting that this puzzle is cut as two halves, rotated 90 degrees. That is, count over to halfway (vertically) and if you split the puzzle there and rotated 1 half 90 degrees you can put it on top of the first half and all piece shapes will match exactly. 5No poster. Logo blocks a small portion of the cover.I found this puzzle to be annoying. There was a puzzle piece logo on the top/middle of the box cover that blocked about 20-30 pieces of the puzzle. The dark pieces were difficult to tell apart, whether dark gray, dark purple etc, and there were a lot of them. I didn t mind the blues and light grays. Last and most importantly, there is NO POSTER, which resulted in a lot of guess and checking. Anyways, I finished the puzzle last night (pic attached). 2A real challenge -- not for the noviceVery challenging puzzle -- and largeIt took me three weeks to finish and took up 2/3 of large dining tableYou will need trays to sort pieces to complete this puzzleThere are multiple fish of each type in the photo -- so determining which one was difficultThere were also 4 pieces on the side that fit in two places -- strange -- this never happens 4Exceptional Quality, Took 15 DaysTook me 15 days to complete this puzzle -- worked on it off and on, mostly alone, like 3 hours a day -- more on the weekends. It was not as challenging as I had hoped but the quality was exceptional. So I will have to get an 18000 piece Ravensburger or something.I could not find a table large enough and had to work on it in parts -- first splitting the edges/frame vertically then once pieces started to collide, I split into quarters/corners. Removed large contiguous finished sections as I went in order to get more space. There are some very difficult sections: the whales (all black/grey), the turtle (really confusing and many textures), and the large section of blue water in the middle. In the end I was missing a single piece which I eventually found by looking under all my furniture.Pro tips for myself next time to save time:- carefully sort out the edge and corner pieces in one pass, instead of 2- initially bin the pieces out further, at least 10 bins based on possible sections of the image (I ended up doing a lot of sub-binning, which adds time)- If you are having trouble with the edge/frame, carefully go back through and check for incorrect pieces. I had this issue pop up a few times due to how close some of the colors/shapes are.CONS:- several pieces came stuck together already, they should scramble it up better- the back of the pieces are blue, which is not very convenient with all the blue in the image, but I guess you'd run into same problem no matter what the color... actually bright PINK would work- it should come with a sheet showing the image, the one on the box is not large enough and parts of their logo obstructs the view (although there are tiny images on the side to compensate)- from the way it was made, every piece has a twin which is identically-cut twin but fortunately the colors are very different... perhaps this is unavoidable as there's a finite of distinguishable piece shapes possible- I half-expected that it would come with a fold out board to work on which would extend normal table size, but it didn't- they could have done an even better job removing the particles of cardboard from the manufacturing process (still, it is way better than other brands I've tried)PROS:- image is beautiful- parts of the image are very challenging, without being frustrating- great experience overallNow I have to figure out to hang this up... plan is to laminate the back of it, and use heavy-duty 3M velcro hangers -- if that doesn't hold then resort to puzzle glue. 5
