Customer Reviews

I recommend an alcohol rinse and let them dry out thoroughly ...I purchased 8 of these Dry Bones miniatures to try them out. This review is written based on the full sample of figures that I bought, not just one. These miniatures take acrylic and watercolor paint well without a need for priming. They seem to pick up a lot of factory dust, I recommend an alcohol rinse and let them dry out thoroughly before painting. The detailing isn't as fine or sharp as pewter minis, which I expected so it's not a disappointment. My only real knock on them is that the taller, leaner figured miniatures have some trouble standing, and 2 of them were bent in the packaging, which now seems to be permanent. The shorter figures (gnomes and dwarves) are great. All in all, I think they are an excellent option and the pricing is outstanding. They are also available in my local gaming stores for about .50-$1.00 more, which is still very reasonable. I can't say how well they will hold up to heavy play, but the initial quality is better than I expected. 3Rogue/RangerThis is a plastic mini that stands at 1.3 in high. She is not as detailed as the pewter version, but that is to be expected. She was a gift for my husband (for our D&D games). This is the first plastic Reaper mini that he didn't prime first before painting. He usually uses white spray paint to prime his minis but found that on the plastic ones - the spray paint caused them to become sticky and the color paint had some trouble sticking. So far he does not have this issue with Callie. He's not finished painting her, but I have attached pictures to show his progress thus far. 4Just as picturedBought for gfs first dnd game :) she loves it. 4Works great for my RangerI purchased this from a local gaming shop to use in our Pathfinder Campaign as my Tiefling (Rakshasa-born) Ranger. I was looking for a tough female with a bow, and this fit the bill. I don't paint my minis (not yet at least, I'm too afraid I will ruin them) so I can't speak to how easy she would be to pain or how well the paint sticks. What I can say is that she didn't require any trimming out of the box, stands on her own and unfortunately the long lower end of her bow is warped out so that it appears more like a staff than a bow. I haven't been able to get it to bend back properly, though I'm considering putting her in some boiling water for a while and then trying to reshape it. On the whole I spent two dollars at the game store to get this figure and am quite happy with my purchase 4Pew pew!I just wanted to show off my paint job. I love her!I think they suggest you wash them prior with soap and water before painting. That removes the solvent they use in the molds to easily take them out. No primer needed but I used some anyway. Finished it off with a light spray of decoupage.Oh, I also like to tape my mini to a bottle cap so I can easily hold it while painting. No smudging with your fingers.I did have to use some tiny fingernail clippers to take off a bit of excess plastic but was easy. 4Right onMade of cheap plastic, but great for beginning painters like myself 3Four Starsenjoying my rogue archer :) 4Detailed, Lightweight, Easy To Work WithPretty detailed, lightweight, and durable. If this kind of model gets dropped, it isn't gonna totally break like some pewter models would. She's flexible but when I got mine, her bow was twisted and bent. Submerging her in boiling water for 10 minutes, straightening by hand, and chilling in ice water overnight fixed the issue easily. 5
