Customer Reviews

All around amazing servoBought this for my buddy and he put it in his truck, went crawling over the weekend and he loves it. I also have one in my crawler that i have had for almost a year now and i haven't had any issues with it at all. These are strong servos. I would recommend this servo to anyone thats is having issues with thier servo in whatever rc you have 5This is really dissapointingIn all my years using amazon I've never had a problem with the many many products I've bought ...but this is the worst product I've purchase ever I bought these yesterday and today I put it on and within the first minute it stopped working I mean come on that's just not fair.... 1Takes a bigger screw than the originalHave not had a chance to really put it through its paces yet, but have a lot of confidence it will do well, at least far better than the servo that cam installed on my Blackout XTE. Cable is long, much longer than the original on my car, so getting it routed through right was a bit tricky, but it worked fine. Plugged in and was all good. One thing I have noticed though, this servo takes a larger size screw to attach it to the steering horn and servo saver than the one that is on the original servo. I am still looking for a screw that is the right size and threading but it long enough. Basically, it takes a screw the size and threading of the mounting screws, just in a longer version so that it can go through the Horn, Saver, and into the Servo. Given that this one is metal gears and rated at 15kg and the original was plastic gears rather at about 3kg, I am sure it will perform much better, especially with the larger tires I put on my Blackout. 4ALL of their products should have this instead of the 3kg that it comes withSo yeah, I got my son into the hobby. Naturally he hit a few things and the cheap stock servo broke. "No biggie" says I, and I order a replacement 6kg...you know, to "beef it up". Freaking 6kg lasted about the same amount of time as the stock. Finally I had enough and went to this beast with ALL METAL GEARING inside. Haven't had a break yet.So yeah if you're reading this trying to figure out what replacement servo to get, spend the extra money for this one because you're going to end up having to do it anyways, i promise. 5Good cheap analog metal gear servo.Good cheap analog metal gear servo that works as it should. Bought bc I could get quickly at a good price use with SkyQ 25T M3 Metal RC Servo Arm Horn. You can now get digital for this price but for my particular application did not require digital. Nice upgrade from plastic Spektrum plastic servo and servo saver steering system. 5Not for monster trucks.A great upgrade from the stock 3g servo, but not suitable for trucks. I had this in my Blackout and it broke on the second run after I cartwheeled it once. I also put one in my drift car and it's better than stock but leaves a bit to be desired. If you're new to the hobby and want to upgrade the servo in your car or boat, this is an affordable option. If you're looking for something that is durable and needs to be reliable, I'd keep looking. 2Good but no screwJust came to say this servo works great but doesn't come with hardware. At least on the Blackout SC, the stock servo horn screw didn't fit. I noticed others had the same problem so for reference it is M3-0.5x16. I got 3 at home depot for $0.50. 4You either need this now, or you will soonJust buy this, even if your plastic gear servo hasn't broken yet (it will). I'm new to RC and have a Redcat Blackout brushed and a Redcat Caldera brushless. I went through several of the cheaper 3's before I realized you could get this 15 with metal gears. Just buy it, you won't regret it. Works well, lasts much longer (so far hasn't broken) and I think it responds a little quicker. I also got a 5 pack of SkyQ 25T M3 servo arms, they work well and don't break either 5Very FrustratingIt is frustrating when you order parts that arrive without the needed hardware to use them. I have ordered from Redcat this servo and its mounting platform for our 3 Everest 10 Rock Crawlers to give them rear axle stearing. The mounting platform package does not include the screws that are needed to mount it to the Everest 10 frame....and the servo does not include a servo arm to connect to the stearing arm. So neither product can be used as they are shipped.I've purchased hundreds of RC servos over the past 30 years and this is the first one that has required me to make an additional purchase of a servo arm. While the parts appear to be of good quality, I will not be picking Redcat products as replacements in the future simply because Redcat has decided to not meet the RC industry standard of including the needed hardware to make the part functional. 2Excellent Servo!Excellent, (it should be) the standard replacement for the Redcat 3 kgm steering servo even before it blows, and it will blow.First of all, let me explain terms: To me, a servo STARTS at 15kg. Anything smaller is most likely plastic somewhere. It only takes one plastic gear to muck up the whole works and they're almost as thin as watch gears. You do the math... I had a 6kg blow just testing a servo saver on it in my hand. Brand wise, you even have to check the 15's. So, as far as Redcat goes, before you even start, every servo not at least a HexFly 15Kg should be replaced even before you use it. I don't care if it's just a throttle servo on a nitro. That servo also controls your brake! I had a 3kg blow just turning a car around on the street! And, if you dress your vehicle up with aluminum, you're putting serious money into it. Don't crash it because it has a cheap plastic servo in it, no matter the brand. That's the main reason I don't use Futaba, ever try to find one even rated at 15kgm, let alone with all metal gears? They're out there, good luck finding one however. At 30 dollars these 15kg HexFly's are a good quality, very heavy duty servo and exceed much more expensive units. At 15 dollars, buy as many as you can! LOL I run up to a Spectrum 6040 Titanium Digital and these HexFlys are excellent steering servos for cars/ trucks/ crawlers. Anything 1/10th scale. All metal gears and very powerful. I've never had one of these fail and unlike Traxxas, they're all metal; Redcat/ HexFly don't talk a fake game; in fact, they don't talk at all, they just give you good stuff. I guess talk is cheaper then metal gears, eh?. LOLThe big heavy Ground Pounder's with their giant wheels, use a pair of these for front and rear steering without servo savers at all, and still they don't have problems with them. They'll bow the heck out of their solid aluminum HUGE heavy duty tie rods, but can't hurt the servos. I think that's all you need to know.I build very expensive cars and use these with confidence. They have no problem keeping up with the Gyro's. I also build very expensive trucks and the upgraded aluminum servo savers grind themselves to pieces before these go bad..Note: These come naked. What you see is all you get.Highly recommended 5
