    Rings were very disappointing!In spite of all the negative reviews, I tried these rings because there were two positive reviews that gave me hope. I was disappointed in this product and had to send them back. The blue rings did not work. The green rings only lighted up on one side. The red rings were hard to start blinking and turn off. The rest were hit or miss. Out of my first box of 24, 11 were defective. I opened the second box of 24 and found more rings to be defective. I have ordered similar rings since 2012 through Amazon without any problem and will go back to my former supplier. 1Great fun but some didn't work & odor strong - air out before usingSuch a fun item to have but watch the number you order. If you need a set number for a party, purchase a few more. 7 in my package did not work at all - even after several adults tried to get them flashing! AND, be warned, they give off a very strong odor! I had read that in reviews, so checked min on arrival. The smell was strong and gave me a headache! So, we unwrapped all the rings, tested them, then put those that worked outside within the open amazon box for several afternoons in a row. They eventually lost the odor. I would not have wanted to give them to children without having aired them out first. 4These rings are pretty awesome -- and the flashing is super brightThese rings are pretty awesome -- and the flashing is super bright. The big drawback is that they have a very strong smell to them -- almost like nail polish. It practically knocks you over as soon as you open the package. The smell is so strong, I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep them to give out at a children's party. I've left one out of the package for a couple of days to see if the smell will fade, but so far, it's hanging on. Other than that, these are really pretty cool.UPDATE: After leaving these out for over a week, the smell went away. We used them at the children's party and they were a hit. The flashing lasted all day. I'm upgrading this from two stars to three stars. 3I Won Halloween This YearI gave these out for Halloween and they were a big hit. The lights were bright and flashy with many colors to choose from. I do however, have a few complaints and/or concerns. First, I found that the ring hole was so large that it didn t fit any of the fingers that such an item would be intended. As an adult male with large hands the rings fit me. The material is super stretchy so I just stretched it over two finger on my kids. Secondly, as they are so stretchy the circuit board becomes easily twisted within the ring itself making it difficult or impossible to turn the ring on or off. With some manipulation, I was able to get circuit board back in place and rescue a few. Third, care must be taken with toddlers because this soft, chewy ring contains a few button batteries that are dangerous if swallowed. I bought two packs, 140+ units and had about 10 bad rings that didn t work, not too bad a failure rate. Despite the few flaws in this product, the kids really loved them. I definitely won Halloween this year. 4Box of DudsI've given this company 2 chances, and both times they have sent me a box of dudes. Nothing is more embarrassing than being forced to hand out rings that don't flash to over 75% of your kids, while the other 25% walk around and rub it in their faces. Thanks Rhode Island Novelty. You've made my clients cry again. 1Buyer BEWARE!!!!If I could give this item a zero star I would!First there were so many mixed reviews on this product, it was hard to judge to buy or not to buy.Well do not buy.... all of the cons listed on other reviews held true to my order.Most of the rings were defective, either they did not work, they did not turn off, or they turned on by themselves and the battery drained.But the WORST part of it all was the smell.... I thought come on people stop exaggerating; but nope they were not...The smell was so bad, it made me nauseous and gave me a headache. The odor is worst than gasoline, or formaldehyde its that strong.Whatever chemical is used to make these is really bad, and I would not suggest children use these at all.I ordered another brand/vendor for extras the same day I ordered these for our party, and it was a totally different experience. So yes I have something to compare it to..... 1VERY STRONG ODOR!I usually order these to pass out to children on Halloween along with candy. I feel these are also good for safety as others will be able to see the kids as they are crossing streets etc. while trick or treating. I was very disappointed when these arrived as they are individually wrapped and when I opened them they have an extremely strong odor. They smell like Epoxy or Airplane glue! I am very nervous about handing these out to children and knowing it will be touching their skin. I would not recommend these for anyone especially children! 1Not nearly as bad as some other reviews were suggestingAs most people have already shared, all of the jelly rings have a strong smell. Just know you're going to spend 10-20 minutes unwrapping them to air them out. Out of the box of 72, only 2 were completely DOA. A few others were dim, had an LED not working or required some physical manipulation to get the batteries and button aligned and functioning. I'd say 69 of them were usable as party favors. Not nearly as bad as some other reviews were suggesting. At this price, I'd order again from this vendor rather than roll the dice on getting them direct from China.I've ordered higher quality ones with more diverse shapes and better quality mechanics and electronics but these are half the price. Beggers can't be choosers. I can tolerate that the debounce on the power IC is inconsistent. You just have to hold the buttons a down a second to turn them on and leave the button depressed at least a second to turn them back on or off if you're just going through them all to check them. 3all ours worked. big hit.each one worked, but we did have to work at a few. if you get one that wont light, try smooshing it around, the clip is in there somewhere. we got all ours to light and I will re-post after our event to say how many we knew of that did not stay lit very long. our trial one went on for an hour before we shut it off.follow up:we handed them out at Halloween, they went over BIG. now some kids came back saying theirs did not turn on, but if you see my photos, you can see the ones that came back (5 of the lot) came back because the kids broke the button mechanism off inside the ring. I took one apart to see what was inside and posted photos. the blue one works just fine, the pink one the kid broke. for the money, this was a great deal! some kids even took extras while not being watched. sneaky kids ;) will be doing this again next year, they were a bigger hit than the glow sticks. also as far as how long they run, we had one found the day after, still blinking away! someone dropped it outside. it survived and the 3 batteries inside still holding a charge. what more can people ask for for this price?update, we did this again, still a great idea! kids just love these, all kids, all ages. 5HORRIBLE CHEMICAL SMELL and inconsistent with colors advertised! I order Blinky rings all the time from a company (not through amazon) and I have NEVER had an issue with a smell. These rings have a STRONG chemical smell that filled my office and genuinely concerned me to breath the air around them without a mask. The other issue is these are advertised as a 72 pack of RED, BLUE, GREEN, and YELLOW. I ordered 3 sets of 72 and was counting on getting the colors advertised since I need more of the same colors I currently have for an event. I received 36 green, red, and purple. 35 blue, yellow, and pink, and 37 red. If you don't care what color you get or if they are safe to breathe then go for it. They are good colors just NOT what is shown as what you will receive. 2
