Customer Reviews

I Would Have Wanted ItGot this front loader for my grandchildren who were coming to visit. While either grandchild could have this, I bought it with my 3 year old grand son in mind. Took a little while to assemble (maybe 3 hours, the instructions are poor and I made a mistake in the earliest stage and had the front wheel bracket facing the wrong way so had to find a way to press off one of the wheel hubs to turn the bracket around). When done it looks great, the bucket lifts and dumps, trailer car connects easily. I also got a kettler classic flyer car with my 6 year old grand daughter in mind. I had my eyes on the front loader. As expected, both grand son and grand daughter went after the front loader first - it just looks neat with functioning bucket and trailer car. It only took a few minutes, though for the 6 year old to switch to the classic flyer - it was faster, sleeker, and fit her better. My 3 year old grand son worked with the front loader for a bit longer but in the end, even he found it a bit small, and very slow. So, they both wanted to use the kettcar classic flyer and neither wanted to bother with the slow and a bit difficult to use front loader. I still think it looks great, though. 3My nephew LOVES it. My BIL hates me for the assembly!I got this for my nephew's 2nd birthday. His dad laughed me off when I warned of the difficulty of assembly, but he was NOT laughing when he called me at 11pm to curse at me for buying this toy.As I understand, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth at my sister's house the night of my nephew's birthday as they struggled to assemble this. But my nephew? He LOVES it; they can't keep him off the thing. At 2 he's a touch small to really ride it. He can operate the bucket and loves to pick stuff up with it. But he can't pedal it around and we have to push him. Hopefully this means he'll be able to use it for a few years before he outgrows it. 5I like it.. not THAT hard to assembleBased on the written reviews, I expect to spend the 4 hours mentioned before or more. Well, it only took me 1.5 hours. 0.5 before going to tennis and another hour just now. Good amount of that time was also spent trying to figure out some of the parts, where they go and the stickers. The assembling just by looking at the pictures makes things more challenging. You just have to layout all the parts in an open space (I only had a 4x4 feet of space to work with so that made things more challenging).Note the read tires and the chain were already assembled. I wonder if the other reviewers describing hard to assemble didn't get those parts already put together. My son still hasn't seent it since I just finished assembling it. I can't wait for his expression. I will try to post some pictures and maybe a video in the future. He has just turned 19 months but he is not in the short side so it might work. I just need to come up with a way to make something to push it until he gets his basics of pedaling down.----------------------------------------IMPORTANT, if you are leaving the stickers for the end, MAKE SURE you put the stickers for the hook prior to mounting the loader part or you will make things too complicated. The rest of the stickers can be put at the end.1) Mount the stearing wheel.2) Mount the two front tires.3) Assemble the loader part. All of it can be assembled before mounting it on the tractor.4) Mount the loader on the tractor, after you have already put the stickers on the hood. There is only one shaft holding the loader part to the tractor. You can unscrew it at will to make it easier to transport. 4Kettler Cat Kid TractorI put it under the Christmas tree and my 2yr old grandson covered his face with awe and wonder. He was excited beyond excitement. When putting it together we could see the fine choice of materials. The parts were crafted for complete safety. It is heavy. It will not turn over. It actually works!! In minutes my grandson had grasped the mechanism to pick something up in the bucket and then dump it. He plays with it every day and I have searched for other Kettler products to buy for him. The craftsmanship, the accuracy with the real thing, and the metal parts and large tires make it an excellent choice. His 8 year old brother also plays with it. It was a great purchase at an affordable price, and delivered securely by Fed Ex. 5Fantastic - except for the instructionsOur son loves this tractor! He drives lap after lap around the house and literally squeals with joy each time he dumps the contents of the scoop. Pedal power means no batteries & uses up some of his ample energy! The (German) engineering and material quality is great. As other reviewers have said, the only negative is instructions are far from simple and make it easy to do something irreversible in the wrong order. If you'd be happy doing something like changing a car's starter motor then you'll be fine; otherwise find someone else to put this together it for you.I ran though the whole assembly process without tightening any bolts and without hammering on the axle caps. That worked really well and saved a lot of time in the end.Top Tips: 1) The rear axle comes assembled. When you assemble the front and trailer axles *leave off one axle cap* until after you have assembled everything else. Put the caps on as the very last thing before the stickers. 2) The lump of plastic the front axle attaches to *cannot* be fitted once the wheels are in place so fit it first and then hammer on the axle caps. 3) The top-hat shaped plastic spacers for the trailer wheels are the serrated-edge ones not the smoother ones (the smooth ones are tools for supporting the axle caps when you tap them home) 4) The top-hat shaped plastic spacer used in the wheel end of the steering looks like one piece in the picture but actually is made up of the short plastic tube and one of the 4 plastic washers. 5) When you assemble the front and trailer axles *leave off one axle cap* until after you have assembled everything else. Put the caps on as the very last thing before the stickers. I know I said that already but its really important! :)Incidentally the ad says "Kettler" but if you are looking for a Rolly KID toys tractor this is one. (or at least the box ours arrived in was branded "Rolly" all over) 5My son was not happy that it took him so long to put it ...my grandson's legs are too long for the peddling and steering at same time. He is only 3 years old. I wish the seat was adjustable so his legs would fit. My son was not happy that it took him so long to put it together (midnight on Christmas Eve-LOL) This same child that has been putting my household items together since he was 7. The tractor and scoop worked wonderfully and was easy for my grandson to figure out. He loved the wagon on back also. He scooped leaves and snow and then dumped them in a different pile. 4Don t be too scared to assemble. Put stickers on first.Seems like the tractor is pretty good quality but that the loader mechanism might be abused by young boys pretty quickly. Put it together on Christmas Eve after reading nightmare reviews on assembly. It took every bit of almost an hour, but definitely not three. We ll see how he likes what Santa brought him tomorrow morning. Put the stickers on before you assemble it. 4Great toyMy Grandson just loves this tractor. It does enough things to keep him engaged. Assembly would have been easier without him around, but generally it went OK. The instructions can be a bit confusing but if you look at all the pictures it is a pretty straight forward task. Grandma and Mother did the build! 5Well built toyVery well built, very sturdy. Like other reviews, it took me more time to put together than it does with other toys. The instructions aren't as bad as some of the reviewers stated, and it was 'hard', but it did take a lot of checking and double checking to make sure I was doing it right. There were several occasions where I'd check the piece, check the instructions, double check with the picture on the box and still question whether I was doing it right. Overall, took about an hour (I may have had a beer or two while doing it, so that could have added a few minutes). My 3 year old son loves it, has no problem using it. His 3 year old cousin can sit in the trailer and pedal her around. It is tough... almost impossible.. for him to pedal on soft ground such as mulch, sand, or grass. Only real negative I have about the design itself is that the turning radius is pretty small, I wish it could make tighter turns. Now if only it came with a broom to sweep up the piles of mulch I'm continually finding on my patio and drive way. 4It is fun for him to sit on and pretend he is ...My son received this for a Christmas present from his aunt. He loves anything construction related. It is fun for him to sit on and pretend he is on a job!Pros: It has a lot of moving parts Can pull things in the back Holds up with a lot of kid wear and tearCons: takes up a lot of space better for 3 and up 3
