Great teaching toy!We purchased an annual pass to the zoo and wanted to introduce a few animals to our little one beforehand so she can recognize them easier. At the time she was almost 18 months and within a week, she knew all of them and was able to spot them at the zoo. My little one rarely puts things in her mouth so while these are small toys, I didn't have to worry about it being a choking hazard. I still do supervise her when she does play with her just in case. I'd highly recommend TOOBs and especially this set. 4and I know they'll do double duty as a fun toy. The "tube" is great storageThis arrived quickly and was well packed. The animals are so cute! We recently visited "Disney's Animal Kingdom" and she was super interested in the safari animals (up until then she had mostly been into farm animals). I checked out the "Schleich" sets, but they were above the price range I was looking for. After looking at some blogs I found a mother that used these (TOOB) animal sets to play matching games with them and animal picture cards. I thought this to be such an engaging activity for my toddler. The price of the 11 animal figures was the price of just ONE Schleich animal figure! DONE DEAL! They are obviously not as realistic as Schleich, but they are still very nice. My daughter loves playing with them!! She will get that much entertainment out of miniature plastic animals?" Then I thought that many recommendations can't be completely wrong, so I ordered them.I couldn't be more surprised and happy with the result. My daughter pretend-plays with them every day. In the bath, in bed, in her play kitchen, in the car, everywhere. She absolutely loves them! She already knew the names of each of the animals, but they have definitely fostered her creativity as she has developed personalities and voices for each of them as they go on adventures around the house. We have had the safari babies for about six weeks now, and she has not tired of them like she has many of her toys that light up or make noise. I bought them to put in the middle of clear soap bars I will be making for the grandkids to encourage them to wash their hands. They are almost too big for that, but I believe they will be perfect because once the kids start feeling part of the body they will never forget to wash after going to the bathroom. 5surprisingly high quality details for the costI wanted my toddler to have some nice, realistic animal figures, and looked at the Learning Resources Jumbo Animals sets and Schleich figures, but those are larger and come at a much higher cost per figure, so I thought I would buy a couple Safari Ltd TOOBs and see what I thought. If I weren't happy with the quality, I would buy Learning Resources and Schleich figures in the future. But no need! I love these. There are a few small painting flaws on a couple of the figures, but for the price, I am MORE than happy; I am thrilled! I will definitely buy many more sets as my daughter develops more specific interests (anything from primates to insects to undersea life to animals from specific continents/climates to dinosaurs... and so forth). Also, not only do I enjoy them, but more importantly, my daughter enjoys them! I only took out a few at once, but she immediately examined them, brought them up to me (as if to ask what they were), and carried them around with her looking at them. I will say she is much younger than the target age... She is 21 months, and they very clearly say for ages 3+, but for me this is a case of knowing my child... She has never been much of a teether/mouther/chewer, never really put things in her mouth she shouldn't, so at 21 months, I am not worried about her playing with them. I would not leave her alone with them in the backseat of the car, just to be on the safe side, but as long as I am in the same room, I am just fine with her playing with them. 5Cute!My kids love these (age 3 and age 1). Their favorite is lining them up on the edge of the bathtub and then playing with them in the tub. They are kind of annoying bc they hurt like crazy if you step on one by accident, plus they are a "scatter toy," meaning that they can spread around the house very quickly and the small pieces can get lost. Later, they show up in the most unexpected places and dusty corners. But maybe that's just at my house. They are good quality and fun to play with. 5I used these to decorate the top of my daughter's ...I used these to decorate the top of my daughter's birthday cake and other mothers marveled at my "creativity". They were cute and just the right size for the top of a 9"x13" cake. I made little habitats for each creature and let my girls place the animals. Win win!! 4Great party favors!Used these for a party animal birthday theme. We put some on the cake and used some as party favors. So cute and the kids loved them! 5
