    Great Scrabble Board... BTW: It's BIG!This is a great scrabble board and it is BIG! Before purchasing I was bit put off by some the reviews that I read on here; one in particular that called into question the quality of this product. Well, I couldn't be happier. The board rotates easily on it's lazy-susan coaster and the board and grid seem to be manufactured with quality in mind; that is to say, that the print on the board is clear and bright and the grid fit's perfectly against the layout. I don't see any issues with lifting of printed matter, misaligned grid and the like. The tiles are of excellent quality; no issues with the way/manner in which the lettering is printed on them. In contrast to one review I read that stated that rotating the board would knock the tiles out of the players holders is simply not true; the board sits high enough to clear the tiles in the holders. Overall I would recommend this product; just keep in mind... it's big! 5Big, yes. Quality, no.If you are looking for "big," this product will satisfy you. If you're like me and also wanted "quality" for your $120, don't buy this. Yes it works - it's big, it spins, and the tiles stay in place. None of the pieces give you that quality feeling. not the board, tiles, tile stands, not even the velvet bag for storing the letters. 2Purchased for my Mom as a birthday giftMy Mom is in her 70s and has always enjoyed scrabble and likes to play against my kids (who are in high school and college). She now suffers from low vision. I first saw this in the Sky Mall catalog on a Delta flight. But I found it for substantially less on Amazon. The thing we liked about this versus other low vision versions was the actual tiles and the Board were substantially larger. In the other versions, only the writing/print was larger. This version also maintained the color contrast. Other low-vision versions I shopped were black and white. The only downside we have seen with the game to date is that the Board does not fold for storage. I would recommend it to all who are interested. It was delivered quickly and the box was in good shape (it was new). The board rotates and the squares have ridges (to keep the tiles in place) We were concerned that the ridges might be problematic for Mom's dexterity, but she did not have any difficulty with picking the tiles up from the Board. 5A bit too large and bulky for usThis is a beautiful board, but there were a couple of things we did not like about the product. First, the letters on the tiles which are 1" squares. The letters are different sizes. For instance the Q's are placed a bit lower than the O's. So, when you look across your tray you don't see a straight line of letters. That may be a small issue for some, but we think it is easier to make a word(s) when looking at a straight string of letters vs. up and down. We were trying to understand why they made them as they are and it is likely because of the score number located at the bottom. It may interfere with the overall making of the letters. But, whatever the reason, we did not think it was worth the money when the letters aren't placed in the same place on the wood tiles. We measured to see if the letters were all the same size and they are. So, it is a matter of placement on the tile. Other than that, it would have been a fine purchase. I would not recommend this to someone that plans on moving it around a lot. It is bulky and a bit heavy. But, if it is going to live in one place, it would add to the overall ambience of the room. We play on our bed, so it was not the best for our needs. We would have likely kept it though had the letters been placed the same. We did return the game for that reason and because it was too bulky for our needs.Again, if the placing of the letters would not bother you, the game is a beautiful piece and could give hours of fun enjoying one of the best games ever, Scrabble. 3HUGE!!!! Scrabble board!!! Awesome!This huge box came to the door....WOW and it is HEAVY! Some folks said it was cheaply made...uh NO WAY! I am very happy with this board. The board has big tiles that are easy to read, the board turns easy and there is no smell of chemicals. I feel it was worth the money I paid. Great Father's Day gift, Mother's Day, Birthday gift or any Special Event or Holiday . 5Worth the moneyWe bought it for my grandparents, who after loving the game for many years were beginning to have a hard time with the traditional sized pieces. The pieces that come with this game are quite a bit larger with a lot bolder letters on them, and we were happy that it made it quite a bit easier for them. With the bigger pieces it does make for a much larger game board, but it has a spinning base that makes it easier for someone to place the pieces. The game itself has a nice wood finish around the edges.All in all, it was worth the money and it will make for some good Scrabble games with the grandparents! 5Absolutely Amazing Fun!!!Purchased for my 80 yr young friends birthday. We play almost daily. His hands are comprised by arthritisbut not the rest of him, this large board with its large tiles& wire cages to hold the tiles on the board are so perfect enabling him to play without help, retaining his dignity. Unfortunately , he beats me too often- a small price to pay for the joy I get in playing with him & others. 5The larger tiles, rotating board and overall quality of this game make it a vastly superior to the standard issue version.The larger tiles, rotating board and overall fine quality of this game board make playing Deluxe Scrabble a vastly more pleasurable experience than playing the standard sized version (to say nothing of the travel editions).One small caveat, You can't get replacement tiles for this one. So, DON'T lose the pieces. I had the good fortune of having only lost a blank and the letter I. Access to woodworking tools made it relatively painless to make the replacements myself. I did however order a second copy of this game before I decided to try to make the pieces myself. I could fairly easily reproduce the letter "I" and the number 1 with a fine point Sharpie and some masking tape. I'd hate to have to try to draw any of the curved letters. Having the second set in reserve guarantees that I'll have a pristine set of tiles for some time to come.Note to Winning Solutions. Offer replacement tiles!This is a fine looking game and can be left out as a work of art! (unfortunately, that's probably how the pieces went missing). 52 Minor Issues - Upgrading Review from 3 Stars to 4 Stars!The gold grid is raised up in 2 spots, which encompasses about 12 squares total. We will try to fix it ourselves by putting some superglue on a Q-tip and running it under the gold wiring to see if that will secure it. The gold frame is actually 2 pieces together (2 1/2 board sizes). Quality could be improved by getting this into a one piece grid, as the seam line is obvious.The other item is that when you swivel the board, it makes noise. And old rickety sounding noise. Does anyone know how to fix that? Some type of machine oil maybe.We love it otherwise. Yeah the wood is not perfect wood. You can see the uneven surface on top of the wood, so what I mean is, the wood is not completely smooth, but rather has some dips in it. It's more of an aggravation due to the price we paid. If we had paid $49 for this, then no problem on these items. But for $109, the price is a bit overreaching.We might still try to swap it out. We will wait a week and see if the squeaky noisy turntable settles down.Update: I used a cotton swab with a bit of everyday glue, and it worked! I'm much happier now that the gold grid is in place!Updated update: Upgraded from 3 stars to 4 stars. We really love the way it looks and it's been very practical. Overall, I do think we have played enough to have had our money worth out of it. Looks nice and matches our other furniture accents which are also in the cherry/rosewood tradition. 4Scrabble Giant Deluxe Edition is TRULY giant AND deluxe!This product was purchased for use in a nursing home game room. The oversize board and tiles appealed for use with the elderly. I (the buyer) did not really read all the details of the set, and thought it would compact from its full size by folding, but it did not. It is a beautiful wooden board set on a turntable, and is nice enough to leave out on display all the time. Unfortunately, this was not possible at the nursing home and we ended up having to return it. But that said, if you have the right space, it is worth the investment. The tiles are oversized and the board has a grid that holds them in place. The wood is just lovely, and everything stores nicely. The seller accepted our return graciously. We would definitely use them for future purchases. 5
