Customer Reviews

Great Tool for Good Memory KidsMy niece is reading! Cognitive learning is amazing! People cannot believe I taught my niece how to read. Great investment. Find incentives to help promote activity (such as Cheetos or stickers). Don t say no or wrong. Say try again, it s a positive way to keep them trying and not get defensive. If they don t get it just give them the answer and move on. 5These are pretty neat....very helpful literacy tool. These are pretty great. Here's what we did with ours: I put the cards in our junk drawer and picked out about 10 of them. I punched a hole in them with a hole puncher and put a metal ring through them to hold them together. Then I put those 10 in the car and we study them on the way to my 4-year-old's preschool, which is about a 5 minute trip. Every day we add a new word. They are pretty great. The only downside to these is that there are words on both sides of each card. 4These cards allow children to become comfortable with common-easier words and progress to more difficult words ...I am on my second set of level A with my second child. The first child wore out the first set. These cards allow children to become comfortable with common-easier words and progress to more difficult words in level B and C. Don t give up if your child refuses to participate. We reviewd the same four words for one month to develop confidence. Now my children (2yrs and 4yrs) are learning 4-8 per week. They now love learning big words. 5Not a fanI bought this for my youngest. After having an older child already go through the same grades of the same school (as well as a different school) I now know there is no standard way to teach sight words. This deck is not helpful because different words are printed on each side of the card. So if I get my youngest s weekly word list and try to make a deck, it s impossible. He s not learning all the words on both sides yet, so it was impossible to just separate the cards for the words he was learning. And impossible to separate piles of got it and try again during practice.A better design is simply to print one word per card. I know it s not efficient and I know it s more costly. We gave up and did the same thing we had done with my oldest: hand written note cards. 2Sight Words - Level AI'm using these cards with my 3 1/2 year old who is starting to learn to read. There are 54 cards, mostly 2-4 letter common words on the front and back, 108 words total. The package states that sight words don't follow phonics rules, but some of these words are arguably phonetic in pronunciation. Still they're good to review often as they're very common words and he should be able to pick up on them quickly when reading a book.I'm also using them to help build sentences. Since he can't quite write the letters/words yet, the cards are laid out in a line to form a short sentence that he can sound out or pick up from memory. I also have a tabletop pocket chart from Smethport that they can fit into. These are used in addition to the level B and C set. Here are the words included in this set:a, all, am, and, are, at, ate, away, be, bed, big, black, blue, box, brown, but, came, can, car, cat, come, did, do, dog, down, each, eat, egg, find, fish, for, four, funny, get, go, good, have, he, help, here, I, in, into, is, it, leg, like, little, look, make, me, must, my, new, no, not, now, of, on, one, other, our, out, pig, play, pretty, ran, red, ride, ring, run, said, saw, say, see, she, so, soon, sun, that, the, there, they, this, three, time, to, too, top, toy, two, under, up, want, was, we, well, went, what, where, white, who, will, with, word, yellow, yes, you 5Good start but forgetting some very common words is unforgivableThese are good quality, sturdy, double sided cards. However, there are some very basic, common words missing, which is frustrating. Words like "if", "as", "by", "your". They included "make" and "like" and "there" but not "made" and "love" and "these". Very few colors are included. Good start but not all the sight words. And some are just unforgivable. 3... are getting a jump start before Kindergarten and these super big and bright flash cards are perfectMy son and I are getting a jump start before Kindergarten and these super big and bright flash cards are perfect! We are just a bit more then half way through the red (1st) package and he can t wait to learn them all and start in the next box. I know they re just sight words but they are well made and I highly recommend these! 5Not RecommendThe main problem is that it s double sided. I wanted flash cards that I could use all over the house. With these site words, you only get half to use. Basically, if you re looking to tape/put sight words on house hold objects, ie, you are forced to make a choice of which word you re going to put around as again, they are double sided. I for some reason missed that and because of that, I am only using half of the cards as the other side is not visible once put taped to objects around the house. They would be fine is you didn t use them as I do but there sadly is one more issue, the opposite side should have either a picture of the site word on the back rather than another random word. I hope that makes sense and helps others. 1Perfect beginner setThese were a good deal. Nice selection of sight words. My son is four. We put a couple on the fridge each week and point them out while working, prepping, eating, etc. We try to make a game out of it. Do you want more vegetables? "YES" or "NO" then let my son pick the card he wants. Some combos are more fun than others. Whether he learns them or not, we move on. Try to keep it light and fresh so it stays fun. They'll circle back in a couple months. 5Not what I expectedI thought the same word was going to be printed on each side of the card, but instead each card has two different words. My daughter is going into kindergarten and we were given a list of sight words for her to learn in a specific order throughout the year. Not having the same word on the front and back of each card makes it hard to sort the cards in the order we need them and also to sort them in piles based on what she knows or still needs work on. I m returning them and will probably just make my own flash cards. 1
