Customer Reviews

Great gameThis is a great game. My kids love to play and it's a game that is also fun for an adult/parent to play too. We've had it for years and all 4 of my kids have enjoyed playing it. We like it so much that we bought it as a gift for another family. My kids started playing it at age 2/3 and now that my youngest is 4 he plays it easily with his older siblings. 5As an adult I think this game is dumb and has no real funAs an adult I think this game is dumb and has no real fun. My children however think this is the best. 5Great game for younger playersThis is a great little game for younger children. My 4-1/2 grandson loved playing it, and it's easy enough that I'm sure the 3 year old will love it too, and be able to play with only minor help. It's really good for teaching/reinforcing numbers and counting in a fun way. It's not a cooperative game, but it's also not competitive; there's no competing against the other players, there's just finding your own way to the finish line. I was surprised that after playing the game last night, it was the first thing my grandson asked for again this morning. And my grandson was very impressed that it was created by a 1st grader -- I'm hoping that thought will stimulate his own creativity! It's not a cooperative game, but it's also not competitive; there's no competing against the other players, there's just finding your own way to the finish line. 5Better than the most popular preschool gamesBought this game for my niece who is turning three in a month. On a rainy evening when we were bored I decided to open it and play it with my four year old son. He loves it. It is a little more complex than chutes and ladders or candy land and teaches more math. The game can go really fast or you can end up in what feels like an endless loop. The materials are solid and nice. My son likes it and I will be buying another for my niece's birthday. Overall it's a good preschool game. 4Great as a first board game for the preschool setMy 3-year-old's favorite game; perfect for after-dinner screen-free family entertainment. Easy enough for pre-readers to play without help. And very pleasantly gender-neutral! (I guess the ladybug game pieces technically have genders, but if you're just referring to them by color, then they're all just bugs.) It's been a wonderful tool to help the kid learn about taking turns in order, following (easy) instructions, and counting. The only oddity is that some games are really fast and some can drag on for a while if you get stuck going around over and over again in the ant/aphid loop...but you can avoid this by modifying the rules so that you only have to pay the ants once. I definitely recommend it as a super-beginner board game! 5We love this game!We received this as a gift for our little people and we have played it oh, so many times. It is great- easy for little kids to understand without being able to read. They need to be able to count, or have assistance moving pieces up to 6 spaces. It's based on luck (no strategy involved) so anyone can win. The game board is brightly colored and the artwork is fun. We have bought it as a gift and our friends absolutely loved it too. Highly recommend! 5Wonderful for four and five year old boys.So fun! I read them the story first, and that was definitely important! They really got into the adventure of it. And we all shared our leftover aphids for lunch when we made it home! We ignored the rule that requires everyone to get stopped by the praying mantis and the ants. And we only stopped if we landed on it. That worked well with a four and five year old. Not too many upsets that way. But it was the first game they ve played, so I don t actually know if that would have been upsetting. 5Creative, colorful and FUN game.My four year old loves this game and we enjoy playing it as well. It is the game he always requests to play and we have lots and lots of games. Its not boring like so many children's board games. It is very creative, colorful and fun with the bug conditions that have to be met before proceeding. There is a quite a story which the game is based upon and we love the garden theme as well. Very impressive that it was created by a 1st grader who did it as her school project. 5Too hard and frustrating for the ages of the children who are supposed to be playingI played with an "almost"-4 year old and an "almost" 6-year old. When the 4 year old fell into the praying mantis and did't have what it took to get out and had to go back to the start,, she was done. When the 6 year old got into trouble with the ants and didn't have enough aphids for the ants, he was done. There are not enough opporutunities to pick up enough aphids before meeting the ants. It is a very frustrating game for these little people that are supposed to be able to play it. The visuals are beautiful, as everyone else said, but the game is NOT for 4-6 year olds. 1Great game!I am so thrilled with this purchase! My five-year-old daughter and I discovered this game at our library and loved it right away. The game is not that repetitive (unlike Candyland) and my daughter constantly counts her aphids. The seller was great too, as I thought I was purchasing a "gently used" game, but it was brand new. What a great purchase! 5
