    Awesome puzzle, great detail and cute illustrationsAwesome puzzle, great detail and cute illustrations. As mentioned in other reviews, it is not one piece per state. But that was not a big deal to me, the purpose was to learn the names and capitals and the state locations. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 because I thought it was a wooden puzzle, but it is actually cardboard. Not flimsy cardboard, but still, the wood-grain "look" is a bit deceiving if you're not reading the description carefully. 4Fun with lots of opportunities for learningSuch a great learning tool for kids! It's great for not only learning how to work puzzles but our grandson is having a lot of fun learning the different states. As he continues to learn, it's nice that the state capitols are listed behind the puzzle piece so he can learn that also. We have used it to show him where different relatives live and the pictures of items from the states are really good for helping him learn about the different states and he's only 4. 5Woah! Amazing learning tool!So. My daughter is 17 mths. I decided to go ahead & buy this product to introduce shapes & colors to her. I wasn't expecting much bc she's so young. The 1st day I received it we briefly played w/ it, she just messed around putting shapes & colors anywhere in any place. I slowly showed her which went where. She got a couple but other than that she just played around. By the 2nd day! She got almost all of the shapes in the right placement but 1! I was blown away! I know for fact if we did this for just a few mins a day she would be knowing them all, colors & shapes, very soon!The only reason I gave this 4 stars (almost 3) is bc this isn't a durable product. AT ALL. It's layered cardboard. She isn't quite 2 yet & got her mouth on one & bit down leaving marks (pics). I also showed how thick the product is (pics). I feel like they could be broken easily or ruined if gotten wet. I would've paid a lil extra for stronger durability, which is a necessity when using w/ kids.Overall, I would def recommend this! 4Capitals are on the puzzle boardOriginally I wasn't too happy about this product because it didn't have the capitals on the map. When I received the puzzle however I discovered that they are printed on the puzzle board. All the states have a white outline around them. Some of states make up one puzzle piece: Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont; New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachsetts; Pennsylvania and New Jersey; West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.; and North Carolina and South Carolina. I really like this puzzle and highly recommend it. 5Nice and educational puzzleSince we moved to USA, I have looked some ways to help my four year old to learn about the local culture. This puzzle has been a very nice choice. The puzzle is well built with light wood, and has the name of all the states on the puzzle-pieces. Once you remove the pieces, you can see the names of the capitals under them.The puzzle is very easy since the pieces have distinctive colors, and the pattern on the board after removing the pieces has the same colors. So if a state is red, my son just needs to look at the red "shadows" to see which one has the same shape. I think this is good, since it allows younger kids to solve it. The pieces fit well, maybe a little too tight once you complete the puzzle, but my son has no problems with that.My only complain is that the lines to show the names of some states (New Hampshire, Massachusetss, Rhode Island) are not aligned with the pieces, but this is a small issue in an otherwise great puzzle. And my son loves placing the pieces of the states we have already visited!Additionally to the puzzle, we also got him this book: America's 50 States, with interesting facts about each state. 5My Kids Enjoyed The Puzzle For Easter (Good Gift Idea)Personal Experience: This was a lightning deal purchase that I made for my kids' Easter basket. Very robust design and my children figured out the colorful state shapes relatively quickly. The puzzle fits well when all the pieces are aligned, I previously had a puzzle that didn't align unless perfect and it irritated my children. Some of the puzzle piece faces are smudged because my kids spilled water on them so I took off a star for that but the parts still fit together. A suggestion I would make is that you get something to hold or contain the pieces with the board because there is nothing provided. Overall a good product with minimal cons.Recommend: YesPros: Good construction Pieces match the shape and color on the board Easy for kids to handleCons: Top color faded on the puzzle pieces after a few drops of water Does not come with a bin or cover to keep pieces in place, when being transported kids drop stuff and 50 puzzle pieces can easily get lost 4A great purchase.My youngest grandson loves puzzles, and this was a gift. I was once a teacher, and I know that wooden puzzles hold up, and can help in teaching fine motor skills. This particular one also teaches geography. I would highly recommend this puzzle. (There are parents who can learn from it as well. It is amazing the adults who don't know US geography. A woman came to my house one day, and as we were talking she asked where I was originally from. I told her Missouri, she asked me if it was by the ocean. I politely said no, but felt she could find this puzzle educational. 5The Price is RightIt s ok. I bought it to use over the summer and introduce learning of the states and their capitals with my grandson. He just turned 5, has an excellent memory, but.... the pieces are not a tight fit so they shift. I think if it had the name of the state underneath on the board in Bold and then the capital as well it would be a better beginning learners tool to teach not only the states, but geography rather than him just trying to match a shape. I also think the couple that they put in as one puzzle piece, such as North and South Carolina should be separated. Each state should have its own puzzle piece to fit into its own area. It would definitely have worked better for us with the suggestions mentioned. But we will continue to use throughout the summer as a learning tool.The board itself is as described, a thick wooden base. 3I am surprised at all the 5 star reviews for ...I am surprised at all the 5 star reviews for this product. I guess I was expecting too much. It is colorful but it's made of layers of pressed card board that are already separating and I just opened it, mostly corners and thin pieces. It fits together ok but there is nothing keeping the pieces you've already laid somewhat in place so they slide around as you try to lay the other pieces. Old school tray puzzles used to have depressed outlines of the pieces on the tray and each piece was slightly raised on the edges so they fit in those depressions, keeping them lightly in place. Again I think in expecting too much from a $6 product. 3It is more like cardboard than woodThis toy does not last. It is more like cardboard than wood. Not water resistant. Get chewed very easily. 1
