Fun and surprisingly accurateI bought this for my 3 year old granddaughter to enjoy, but I admit I like playing with it, too. The charge battery pack that is connected to the truck itself ran out relatively fast the first week, but we charged it up again and it works like a charm. I'm guessing while it sat in the box (waiting to be bought and delivered) the battery pack wore down, but we don't expect it to happen as much now that it's working from a full charge. The flashing lights are fun to watch and the road noise is constant. The back up beeping is entertaining, but neither has no option to make it quiet; other than that, it works well. The "signal" range on it seems to be about 45 feet, but that's plenty for a toddler. 5A nice toy for the money!I bought this for my grandson along with an R/C excavator.The Pros;The remote control is fairly intuitive and my 4 year old grandson was operating it within minutes.Construction is plastic but is sufficiently strong enough for the type of play this toy was designed for.The Cons:The only negative of real consequence is that the dump bed doesn't actually lift high enough to dump the load. With each load we lift the dump bed and then rake the sawdust out.Things to consider.This is a toy and the lift strength of the dump is very limited. Because I'm a woodworker and always have saw dust around the shop this isn't really an issue for us since dry saw dust is very light.The front wheels don't actually do the steering so when you want to turn right you wont see the wheels pivot to make the turn you'll just see the machine magically turn to the right 3Great truck for the money. Easy to Drive.Great truck for the money. Grandson is a bit young for it at 1 1/2, but still figured it out pretty well. Unfortunately, we (dad and granddad) managed to lose/never see the charger in the excitement of Christmas morning, so truck is idle after the battery discharged. Control operation is more like a tank than a truck, but is pretty easy to learn to use. (push both forward buttons to go straight ahead, one to turn, Push both back to go backward. Forward on one and backward on the other side, and the truck spins. On/Off switch on the bottom. Light where the driver would sit lights whenever truck is on. Seems to be pretty sturdy.The controller works with 3 AAA batteries, and it makes various noises when the buttons are pushed in addition to controlling the truck. Grandson is now using it as a fake cell phone, punching in "numbers" and happy with the various sounds each button makes when pressed.Truck works with a custom NiCad battery pack that is recharged with a small, plug-in charger. Fortunately the TopRace.com web site sells "parts" that include both spare batteries and also replacement chargers at a fair price, so our truck will soon be charged back up. 5Fun toy for my nephew!Gave this to my nephew for Christmas this year and he loved it! It's all plastic and I hope he doesn't break it, but it was fun to watch him try and work the remote. He might be a little young at 3.5 years old but I loved remote controls when I was younger and couldn't resist. The buttons in the center are for making dump truck noises and the steering is done with the two joysticks. The steering was a little confusing I thought because each side only controls 1 side of the truck. Most remotes have a forward/backward stick and then a right/left stick. This one you turn it by only pressing forward on 1 side and then press both forward to make it go straight. He will get it though, I could tell he was having a blast. You control the dump on the truck by pressing either of the 2 buttons on the top of the remote. They both do the same thing, so you can press either one. Overall, I think it's a great toy, we will just have to see how long it takes him to break it :)! 5Great little remote control truck--my 3 year old grandson got ...Great little remote control truck--my 3 year old grandson got the hang of it after a few days of practice--in the meantime his 6 year old brother could easily navigate with it. The right drive wheel would intermittently lock up--we contacted the seller and the send the replacement right out--it also arrived within the two days. Easy to work with. 5Ruined ChristmasWe got not just the dump truck but also the excavator and bull dozer too for our son. He was so incredibly excited to open them. ALL 3 DID NOT WORK. Horrible. Ruined Christmas. My husband and i charged the batteries the day before and load brand new batteries in all the remotes. We couldn't get amy of them to work. We tried again with charging and new batteries but still nothing. JUNK. They are made of cheap plastic too. These will not with stand the use of a 5 year old boy either. Even if they did work. Returning all 3 of them. If you are in the market for a toy like this, just spend the money to get better quality. We unscrewed it and looked inside and the plastic pieces were stripped which caused the screws to fall out and therefore the wheels wouldn't turn. Rechargeable batteries (4.8V 700mAH Battery) Even though the plastic seems a little flimsy it has survived numerous falls and crashes.Cons: Battery life gives about an hour of steady play.
