Customer Reviews

This game surprised meSo I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I do...The game is fast-paced and easy to learn, and got my anti-gaming wife addicted, so that in itself is a huge plus. The artwork on the cards is extremely well done, and the theme is tongue-and-cheek "evil" with a lot of heavy metal references and general silliness in case you were worried about that aspect of it.This is a great party game, and I think it is too bad it kind of flew under the radar. 5Fantastic Dice/Card Hybrid GameFrom the makers of the very clever "Zombies!!!" game comes something completely different: a quick, light card game themed around dice manipulation: (1) roll your three dice, (2) play cards to manipulate the results of your (or others') dice, (3) attempt to match your dice results to the three-digit current Number of the Beast. Each card contains its own set of rules that affect game play, so each card contains (relatively simple) text. The game is moderately flexible in terms of the number of players it can accommodate, but somewhere between 3-5 is probably best. If you stick to those numbers, a game will usually take around 15-30 minutes.Overall, the play is very fun, portable, addicting, fast-paced -- and incredibly simple to learn. Explaining the rules takes less than 5 minutes.APPROPRIATE AUDIENCE: Hardcore gamers will enjoy this as a "warm-up" between their more complicated gaming sessions. It's a very useful tool for introducing newcomers to these kinds of games (one of the best I've ever found as a "gateway" game into more complicated fare). Finally, while the game has a "devil/underworld" theme, the mechanics are only nominally related to that theme -- in other words, even if the player has no interest in such supernatural settings, it shouldn't be of any real impact on his or her enjoyment of the game.OVERALL SCORE: A- If you're looking for a fun, quick game that is easy to learn and explain, you won't find much better than this. 4Having fun trying to be EVIL!!!!!This years entry from Twilight Creations players use dice and their card to alter the numbers to become the number of the Beast, but the game changes as you meet other members of the Beast's family - the child of the beast (333), or the stepchild of the beast (667) (no that is not a misprint that is its actual number and there is a way to get it- which is explained below). It takes a lot of luck and strategy to have your dice match the number of the beast, and you will go through the deck a few times before someone wins. The rules to play are easy, but the description on a few cards can be a little misleading unless you really read them (like for the stepchild of the beast you need a 7 - there are cards that move one die up or down one number - however a 1 can not become a 6 and vice versa - so if you use the card to move up one number up and you have a six - you now have a 7 then hope no one hits you or changes the beast card so you will win on your next turn). But it was fun, I played a demo at gen con and picked it up there before the offical release (gods I love going to conventions) and I am always looking for new games to try out. so give it a try. 4Extremely easy to pick up and teachA very simple filler game. Extremely easy to pick up and teach. What really sold me was the well done artwork and the song references. The only real issue I see is that it s very luck driven and can sometimes drag on way too long for what it is. 5Works best in smaller groupsIt's a fun game, and the art is FANTASTIC. The music references made our day when we played through the first time. It's got the benefit of being very easy to learn, set up, and put away. That said, this game has some serious flaws that prevent it from being in our regular board game rotation. It's so straightforward that it is, unfortunately a bit boring, especially in groups larger than three. Exceeding three people causes the time of the game to increase but the fun and challenge does not. It just makes it much, much longer. Some instructions are also really vague in regards to specific cards, particularly mentioning one card but not another that does the same action. It leads to a lot of confusion in play. It's not a bad game but it is primarily a game of chance, and due to the nature of the beast it works better in smaller groups where playing cards against one another is more damaging/beneficial and actually affects the direction of the game. 3Awesome.This game is simply amazing! I played it at work with my friends, they love it too.The reason why i dont give 5 stars is because of the dice quality, but is nothing that will annoy you all the way through. We love it. 4Five StarsVary fun to play with your buddies and see how bad you can screw them over for victory! 5Fun Game!Fun game! Easy to pick-up and play. Took this to my game group and we were playing this in minutes! The group enjoyed it. I've been asked to bring it back! The most evil or the youngest starts the game. This game is not simply chance there is strategy and keeping an eye on the long game here. Several times it looked like we had a winner only for someone to change things up. Fun times! I wouldn't suggest this for kids under 12 unless they are very precocious.Humor is all over the place with "The Daughter of The Beast" being 333, The Brother of The Beast and Neighbor of the Beast also having their numbers.Enjoy! 4
