Great Choice!Lots of functions. Super sturdy. It stands up to the use (abuse) of an 18 month old boy who is still learning how to respect books.It cleans easily with a barely damp cloth or an antibacterial handy wipe.I would recommend this to anyone with a small child. One of the best electronic books we've purchased for him. 5Pretty cool technologyMy son grabs this every day. It has taught him a number of new words. The pages are completely flat and all you have to do it touch the picture on the page for it to talk. Pretty cool technology. Lots of words/letters to learn. I love that words are categorized under different flaps depending on a specific category. Size is great. I have packed this in my hand bag tote when traveling with my little ones. Only negative is there are two volume levels, but they're both too loud (especially the higher one!). The softer one is still not quiet enough to be able to bring along to a restaurant. Or to use on an airplane. It would disturb those around them.. But because of how much my son loves this and how well it's independently taught him words, I didn't knock a star off for noise level. 5Great teaching book - lots of funMy son adores this book! I bought it for my 11 month old, but my 2 year old plays with it much more. He loves that he can switch between words and sounds and music. His favorite part is the Owl. He loves to turn the pages, and especially likes the section about the park. Very happy with this purchase. I will be getting more of these for the upcoming holidays! 5UnderwhelmingMy son has another V-Tech book, similar to this, that he's had since he was about 8 months old or so. He's now 17 months and he still plays with it, so I bought him this one as something new to help keep him occupied during a 5-hour car ride. I was excited about this toy because he absolutely loves books, and always points to the pictures (or points my finger at a picture) so I'll tell him what it is. I showed him how to use this book, but it was very underwhelming for both of us. I wish there were actual buttons, and not just pushing on a picture, because it doesn't always work and it frustrates both of us. I had thought the pages were hard, but they're not -- they're flexible, like really thick, plastic-coated paper? I'm wondering if they'll hold up to the rough handling of a toddler.He does play with this a little bit. Mostly, for now, he just likes to use the slider to change the modes a million times and flip through the pages. I'm hoping he'll get the hang of pressing the pictures. It's a pretty good toy for the price, and about as "techy" as I like to get with his toys. Plus, it's small enough to fit in his toy bag for the babysitter's house, so that gave him something new to play with while he's there. It's still not what I expected, and it isn't very user-friendly, in my opinion.And it's LOUD. Even on the lowest of the two volume settings, it's ridiculously loud. 3An Excellent Educational Touch and Teach Word Book By Vtech.Among the 4 Vtech toy books/laptop we have for our toddler, this is the best. He loves it and keeps playing with it since we gave it to him. This educational toy book features 12 incredibly detailed and touch sensitive pages that help teach children over 100 words in six categories: Your home, Food, Clothes, Toys, The Park and the Zoo. It has four models of play including: What's That Word, Letter Fun, Music Time and Find It. In the "what's that word" mode, three pressure on the button of the word produce three different descriptions. For example, press the button of the picture of sofa for the first time, it says "Sofa". Press it for the second time, it says "blue sofa". Press it for the third time, it says "cozy sofa". In the "Letter Fun" mode, it says "Food keeps me healthy" when you turn to the page of food; Press the picture of watermelon, it says watermelon begins with letter W; Press the picture of watermelon for the 2nd time, it says W is for watermelon. In the mode of "Find It", it will say "Let's find something that begins with letter B". Press the picture of broom, it says "Wow, Great Job!". If the picture of plate is pressed instead of the picture of broom, it will say :" Plate begins with letter P. Keep looking." The pages react to the toddlers touch with sounds, music, and words. It took a while for her to ...This book taught my 1 1/2 year old how to say "nuts", "tunnel", and "doll" within the first few weeks that she owned it. Pretty rad. It took a while for her to get the hang of pointing with one finger (since it's touch sensitive), but she finally figured it out. So far we're only using the first setting - words, as the kiddo isn't advanced enough to know how to spell anything, but I like that the different settings make this toy "new" for different ages. 5Frustrating for a two year old, boring for an older toddlerThe recommended age is 18 months/4 years.The choice of words is perfect for a two year old, but it would be too simplistic for an older toddler. However for a younger toddler it s too complicated to use...The user s manual says don t use more than one finger to touch a picture on the page. Avoid resting your hand on the page . It s shaped like a book, but the toddler is supposed to open it and let it rest on a flat surface, don t touch anything except for the picture he is interested in, and he should do it with enough but not too much energy and without resting the finger on the picture too long or it doesn t work properly. Very frustrating. 1Great ProductThis is gets five stars from me for several reasons: it got me my cell phone back, held his attention, he was he was learning something new, and he was enjoying learning something new and the cartridges are great. Also, if he gets use to it, take it away for awhile, buy a new cartridge and use it as a travel game. It keeps them busy during the hours of a long trip. 5A fun toyThis toy is really nice. My daughter still doesn't understand that she can press the pages to hear sounds. Right now she just likes to open and close it so that it says "See you next time" and she can say "Bye bye!" I have gone through the book though, and all the sounds match up to the pictures. I anticipate this being a great learning toy. Also, I purchased extra AAA batteries when I bought this because it only comes with "demo" batteries, but the demo batteries are still working perfectly even with daily use. 5this book was easy to use and great learning activity I got it ...this book was easy to use and great learning activity I got it for my 10 month old tho and she was still a little young for it and thought that the pages were hard plastic but they are soft plastic that can be bent and maybe ripped from the book If a young child is using it roughly 4
