    Great buy for the priceI bought these to go with a wooden chess board that I had also purchased and the look like they were made for it. Great buy 5Good checkers setI ordered these checkers to accompany a chess set so that we could play either game on the board. The checkers are about an inch in diameter, which I was afraid would be too small for the board. While they are smaller than the plastic checkers I grew up with they work fine with the chess board we bought. The checkers themselves are well made. I had no chipped ones, nor were there any poor finishes. They are also stackable which was a feature I was searching for. They do not "lock" together like the ridged plastic ones from my youth but stack in such a way that they are serviceable for a typical game. You will have to pick up both checkers to perform jumps with stacked kings. Overall this set suits my purposes and I am happy to have matching wooden checkers to go with the wooden chess set. The Wood Checkers w/ Stackable Ridge - Dark Brown/Natural costs less than comparable products, have the right weight and feel for checkers, and above all, they stack neatly with a wooden ridge.The wooden checkers are made of quality material (cherry wood, perhaps?) that emit a nice smell when first opened from the well-packaged cloth bag that the checkers arrive in. Perhaps I was fortunate, but the smell of the wooden checkers was a nice indication that the people who packaged the checkers prior to shipping added a nice touch to their product, reminiscent of fresh cherry blossoms.Family played a game of checkers for the first time together in over 40 years last week. The game was both challenging and evoked memories of strategy games we played as kids. This is one game we actually enjoyed together, contrasted with the usual competitive spirit fostered with other games. The finish on these are marginal and when I used spray polyurethane to coat them better it took about 7 coats. The checkers just soaked the poly up like a sponge.If you just want some wood checkers, I would buy these in a heartbeat. 4Perfect for our rustic checkerboard table!We made a side table for our porch using a vintage penny nail keg and checkerboard. These wooden checkers are perfect for it. The checkers come with a convenient storage bag, so we can lift the board and store in the barrel. There is a groove on the back of each checker for crowning kings, and the stack can easily be picked up and sat back down to jump your opponent. The price is right, too. Very happy with our purchase. 5Great Checker PiecesI bought these to go with a wooden chess set and they are great. They have a great almost flawless if not so design in the center and the whole piece is smooth and coated with some type of wood sealant or what ever you call the junk, but it still looks fairly natural without being too shiny and still keeping the general color of wood. Great over all. Also comes with a pretty good pouch that could hold about 2-4 more sets of these pieces. I would probably order two the next time I order and keep all in one bag and maybe use the other bag for chess pieces to go along with the checkers.The only real issue seems to be that when stacking the checkers pieces the indent on the bottom on many occasions is not deep enough to hook onto the top or sit without falling off the other when pushed. Some do but not all pieces. This can be addressed by switching the two pieces you are trying to stack with one another because one is probably deeper than the other. It is just far too subtle to be useful. I like the pieces though so it does not bother me, but I wish this part was better, but it is not so bad as to ruin the product by no means. 5They are nicely made and a great addition to my game howeverThe checkers arrived fast. We own a wooden folding Civil War Gettysburg chess set. These checkers are just the right size to use on the board for a simpler game. The checkers stack for kings which is helpful. Though it could have been more simple to just stamp a gold leaf crown on one side of them for the same effect.Bottom line, these checkers are cheap and small which is what I wanted. 4Good set of checkersI'd been looking for a nice set of checkers without having to spend too much money on them. I've found these to be stackable and very good. I've been amazed that so many other sets don't actually stack. Like, how hard is it to manufacture something that works correctly when it's only a small, molded piece of plastic?
