Customer Reviews

We Like Our Slip-n-SlideWe looked to Amazon to replace our 5 year old Slip-n-Slide. I almost didn't buy it because all of the negative reviews. All I wanted was to replace the old one which finally gave up the ghost and blew out the end seam after one of the kids jumped up in the air and landed on the water filled end cushion like a cannonball. The magical duct tape worked for a bit as an emergency MacGyver fix. The other thing was the 2 slide boogies (their words, not mine) leaked persistently which duct tape couldnt even begin to slow because of the shape of the seams. We bought the first one at the local SuperChain store. Time for a new one... So I started the Amazon search and found lots of negative comments. The picture shown on the site looked different so I thought they must have redesigned it and cheaped out on materials based on the problems others experienced. Trusting Amazon and their return policies (heck they deliver our groceries for goodness sake) I decided to splurge the $18 or so dollars and see how it all turned out. We use Amazone Prime so we received it within 2 days and the kids anxiously awaited the brand spankin' new slide and boogies. Out of the box the vinyl feels slightly less robust than our old one and a bit thinner. I put it out in the yard, connected the hose, and turned on the water. So far, so good. The side sprays did not seem to spray up as high as the previous one - only about 2 feet as compared to 3 feet on the old one - presumably because their are more holes. My first thought was "Oh no, the other reviews are right, it needs more water pressure, we are dead in the uhhhh H2O." The thought of disappointing the kids by emptying it out, letting it dry, trying to fit it back into the box (yeah good luck with that), and returning it, went through my mind. I came to my senses and said to myself, "Myself, don't be a silly man. It was $18 bucks. For that significant layout of cash you must give it some time." Sorry to keep you on the edge of your seats but more details should be provided. We live in the Yuppy suburban outskirts of Seattle (so the slip-n-slide is only used for about 3 months a year), we have good water pressure (I actually considered for the sake of this review getting a 5 gallon bucket and giving you and exacting measurement of our water flow rate - but I just couldn't muster the energy. Maybe sometime when I am done with my macramey cat pillow. Just joking. It is for the dog), we have three kids 4,5, and 8 so small in size and consequent abuse of the slide. Ok back to how it all turned out... The water flow was good. The jets that shoot off the side required a little adjustment so that the water flowed onto the slide rather than half on the slide and half on the lawn. Easy cheesy - just lift up the water filled side tube while the water sprays you in the face and point the jets towards the slide. No batteries required. We use the slide on a flat lawn. Because of the increased flow of water through the side and end spray jets the latest model accumulates water much better than the old one. The entire slide is quickly covered with water so that when the kids slide on it, they move quite a bit of water around making it that much more fun. I surveyed the kids and it was unanimous, they love it. We have used it now for 6 or 8 weeks and it works perfectly. No leaks, good water flow, good slippity funtastic time had by all. 4Five Stars My kids like loooove it!!! Add a little dish detergent to make more slippery 5Great buy! Bought this for a bunch of 25+girls weekend trip and it was the highlight of the trip! Worked great! I was worried because the reviews said it ripped and wasn't slippery enough, those reviews couldn't have been further from the truth. It was so much fun! Made us feel like we were little kids again! 5Whiners and Critics Get A Grip!In response to all the critics... YES you have to put it on a slope! YES you might need another hose for extra water! YES you might want to add dish detergent to slide better and faster! YES kids might get a little brush burn on their chest or arms if they hit a dry spot! YES you might slide off into the grass! YES kids will collide! YES kids will will try and slide on their feet standing up! YES it will tear! YES people will bust their a** and get hurt and YES cries may be heard and tears may be shed! ...ALL these things are what makes it fun!!! If you are complaining about the "quality" of a slip and slide then evidently you didn't have one as a kid. Get a grip! 5Big letdown! We were super excited to use this when our grandsons visited earlier this month... Connor/5 & Jeremy/2. They had just come from a visit to their aunt and uncle's where they used a homemade slip & slide from a roll of plastic painter's drop cloth, and we were thinking they would love this given the additional "bells & whistles". But when they tried it after we set it up on a small hill in our backyard, it was a huge letdown! We even squirted a little dish soap onto the wet surface to make it slippery, but they still were unable to slide on it. Using the little inflatable "slide boogies" only made it worse!... just too much friction! The side sprayers worked well to get the whole thing wet. And, the pool at the bottom filled with a little water for some foot-stomping splashing fun. But, we were all hoping for so much more and, overall, it was a huge fail! Not only that, but it did not come with the stated repair patches or anchors. I'm sorry to say that this is going to be returned. And, next time, we'll just buy a DIY roll of painter's plastic:) 1You Get What You Pay For - This Things SucksThe instructions say to lay it on a flat grassy surface. That's untrue. You need a somewhat inclined surface for this to really work. It also says to wet the surface before having the kids slide to that they can glide across it. Water isn't nearly enough. You need to apply something to it to make it more slippery, like detergent. So, if you have a somewhat inclined surface that's smooth and grassy and you apply a little detergent then this can be fun. Otherwise, it's a waste of $20. I'm gonna donate ours to the local landfill. The kids hated it, and immediately went back to their blow up kiddie pool, which was a far better buy. 1Not Enough WaterThe water does not come out of the tube in significant enough amounts to actually wet the slide. Plenty of water accumulates at the bottom, but that is no help. We tried setting the slide up in different configurations in order to encourage the water to flow better, but no luck. Unhappy mom here. 1Fun times for big party of kidsWe used this for a large party of 12 kids, and it worked great. Having the wider slide kept the mud and grass off the slide although I don't recall ever seeing two kids go down at once. The water spray, once adjusted with the hose, was fine, and we had no problem with rips or tears.Over time, I can't say if the slide will hold up or not, but several hours of abuse by 12 kids aged 5-12 seemed to go OK. I would have preferred a splash pool at the end, but I wasn't able to find one online when I needed the slide. Kids used and went without the inflatable boards, and all seemed to do just fine. 4Great fun !Great product for the price! Seriously how can you beat it??? Was a huge hit at my daughters birthday party!!! Only drawback was the side opposite the water hardly got wet, easy fix though. We used a sprinkler for the other side , problem solved! 4Worked for partyI read a lot of negative reviews...the product i received worked perfectly for my child s 1st birthday. About 5-6 kids, ages 4-12 slid on it for 2 hours straight with no issue.. 5
