    Great Chess Set at a Great Price!This chess set is everything I wanted! The pieces are weighted correctly, the vinyl board is easy to pack and unpack, the carrying case works good, and the price is definitely right. Don't waste your money on an expensive chess set (unless you want it for decoration or something). You can't beat the functionality of this set. Also, from what I can tell, the pieces are sturdy. I've taken this set back and forth between my college and home multiple times and used them multiple times. I've even thrown the set around a bit more than I should have, and they're still in good shape. So, if you're not abusing them like some type of out-of-control ape, they should last quite a while. 5A good portable starter chess set.This is a good chess set for kids learning the game and/or taking chess lessons. The big pieces are solid, easy to distinguish from one another, and easy to handle. This set includes an extra set of queens which is a nice little addition. The board has clean and clear row numbers and letters which is important when learning how to record your matches. The chess mat itself was a little thinner than I had expected, and when the board is rolled out the edges come up a bit. However, for the cost and portability of this set, I would recommend it to others. 4Good starter chess boardGood starter chess board. The pieces are "non weighted" but still feel very good quality. Carrying case is a nice added bonus for storage and easy transport. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the board had a funky synthetic smell and had to be aired out. Otherwise, great set and green color is classic! 4Smelly but otherwise decent chess setThis is a good quality chess set. The pieces are heavy enough, the board looks good, and it comes with a nice bag. The only problem, and it s a pretty big one, is that the mat has a strong chemical smell that has now permeated the entire house. I ve tried hanging it outdoors for a few days and it didn t help. I would ve happily paid more for a chess set that doesn t smell so bad. This wouldn t be good at all as a gift. 3Great set, great service.This is a great little set -- pleasant pieces with a good weight. They, the board, and the carrying case are all nice and sturdy. Also, the seller (House of Staunton) had great customer service. One of the pawns had a casting flaw (its head was dented on one side.), so I dropped them a line and they immediately said they'd send a replacement. It arrived a couple days later. 5A very nice set.A very nice set. It is identical to the sets I used in my high school's chess tournaments. The pieces are well made and the board is real durable and will last for a very long time if well cared for. The carrying case provides just enough space for the board and chess pieces and rounds out this combo nicely. 5Awful smell and potentially hazardousNo pieces missing, but the chemical smell (very similar to formaldehyde, probably it is ) is too strong. The box and archer bag stink to the point where I had to find the most remote corner in the house to put them in. I can't imagine anybody carrying that bag anywhere, even to a ventilated area such as a park. Other than that the set is fine, though the board itself is a bit smelly too. 2Perfectly portabale full size!I love this product. I haven't played chess in years and needed a board and pieces so I can get back in to it. The board is full size and lays flat with no problem at all despite being stored in a rolled up position. The pieces aren't very heavy, but they're heavy enough(no problems with accidental tipping). The bag is not too big or small, everything fits inside easily and he can throw it over his shoulder. Even his chess teacher was impressed with it. I will agree with the others that complained about the off-gassing of heavy plastic odors. I opened it all up and let it air out for several days before we needed to use it and this solved the problem. 5Very nice chess boardGreat chess board, especially for the price. Easy to travel with the included bag. Board rolls up easily and stays flat while playing. The pieces, while single-weighed, have a very nice feel and look good.The one downside, is that the board has a strong plastic/vinyl smell each time I take it out. Hopefully over time this will go away. 5
